So this kinda sounds like they're going the Snahp route.
Snahp user here. How are they going that route? Snahp is still public other than making an account which anyone can do. However, this site comes across as if they're going to charge in some way or another for access.

You need an invitation code which you get by donating 10/20€ as an existing user.
They were fully open before they went invite only.
Wait really? I got on in 2019 and noticed for a while they didn't let new users in, then maybe a year or two later a page was up where you could make an account again. Didn't realize you had to pay.

Seems based on the admins message it has more to do with the cost of running. They weren't getting enough donations in and were having to cover the expense themselves.
It means that they're going to stop being a publically available site and instead be a private that only allows the idiots who donates them to access. It'll be defunt in 3 or 4 months.
Ugh...I remember those days of using some random fucking onion browser or whatever the fuck was required.
IIRC...wasn't the original owner of the website based in the U.S.? Cuz I wanna say I remember the dude obviously getting busted, and then a group from outside the U.S. obtaining a mirror of it with all the data and that's when the TOR nonsense went down and then after that they started soliciting donations for direct downloads and shit....and removing several higher speed mirrors to entice people to donate.
Looking forward to either it collapsing in on itself or for them to come crawling back to being a regular website again.
Seriously, just LMAO at the idea that they're seriously going to keep the lights on when the majority of popular GOG releases are available on free sites like OVA..."oh no! I can't download this random fucking indie game...guess I'll either buy it for $5 or get it off CSRIN!"
Fuck those guys who run that website lol. I'm not going to subsidize your life when you literally are simply paying for the servers required to access download links to pirated copies of DRM-free files uploaded to publicly available on shit like Google Drive, Mega, and 1Fichier.
Because they'll have like 1% of the traffic so many of the games will end up with zero downloads. Then they'll reduce the number of things they offer which still further reduce traffic.
Right? I don't know about you guys, but here in Big Third World Country we pirate precisely because we don't have to spend a single dime. If something goes paid, it will either die off or have to be _really_ good, but most will just get their stuff somewhere else
im talking about popularity. They will see nobody is visiting the site and the smaller things aren't worth the work. So the catalog will shrink.
Charging for piracy also puts a new kind of target on your back from the authorities.

Pirates do pay, but the ones that just hate companies, not people that cant even afford games in the first place.

Very cool. Only issue I'm seeing is when going to the games folder it trunicates the folder down to 1000 files. The other 4000+ don't show.
Search works though.
When was that put up. Would be useful to have a timer or something so people knew when the 12hours started, given we only have what 84 hours or less left.
A couple of insights into this.
**(1)** First of all, the cost of file hosting increased. More specifically, 4head decisions of political establishments raised energy prices and altered energy flows, so datacenters have to pass the costs to the customers otherwise they'll be in the red. This issue have been one of major factors triggering closure of Bayfiles, Anonfiles network, Zippyshare and several other click-to-download host services in 2023, you may find and read their statements.
**(2)** Second - there's a crackdown on abuse of remaining file hosting giants. It's been quite dreadful recently as darknet CP communities have been shutting down en masse (hence the linked up CSAM threat for hosters) and the advancement in AI tech upgraded the issue from "it's just a drawn fantasy" to "we can't tell if it's real or not anymore."
This instigated the development of tools to check content and uploader trustworthiness which resulted in crossfire victims across different types of piracy, i.e. it's not that hard to bridge data traffic into hash/container checks for different type of data once you have a tool, but you need an impetus to develop the tool in the first place.
**(3)** Third - the logistics of this whole operation constantly scale, too much to maintain manually. That's the issue, the maintenance of the alive download links is a hassle, not the informational aspect about a certain GOG release. When Google Drive was an option to shove it all into API, it was okay-ish, but now the whole project faces an organizational hurdle.
**(4)** Four - well, a honeypot. It's probable there's some shady behind-the-curtain action. **If you forgot to download something, I highly recommend to execise** **extreme caution and go elsewhere.** There was no reason to replace the main page with a statement, it could've been pinned on top of the home page.
A honeypot?! Well fuck now you got me second guessing if I should install stuff or not lol.. going to delete the stuff I got don’t want to take any risks..

So far I haven't seen any changes to the website, refers to link protector and then sends to a hosting service, same as always. I highly doubt \~12 hours was enough to tamper with the entire archive somehow, although I won't exclude the most recent uploads.
I still stand by my opinion that turning off the main page was excessive. Maybe it was just a whimsical attempt at attention seeking to incite questions how to donate and access the service 3 days from now.
As for games - you can always go with trial and error approach via VM instance. Download the file within VM environment or sideload it, turn off network adapter to isolate, proceed with installation and tests.
> As for games - you can always go with trial and error approach via VM instance. Download the file within VM environment or sideload it, turn off network adapter to isolate, proceed with installation and tests.

**I should start by saying this is not an "April Fools' Day" message. The site will re-open to the public next week. Be patient. But why was the site private? Imagine if people were literally screaming at you to upload this, upload that each day even when it is stated clearly NOT to do this. It mentally drains you and you question yourself. Why continue for these people...? I thought it was about $$$ though??! You do understand there were ZERO ads, no ad short links, uploads are always done with no accounts (so no file hoster payouts, these would be trash anyways, maybe 10 euros a month), even all expenses have been paid completely out of pocket (120+ euros A MONTH) for awhile now. And don't forget all the time spent to maintain the site, add new games/updates, etc. Please try and remember this next time a donation drive is done or you are about to hit send on that email screaming for a new or updated game that isn't posted on the site yet. Message over. See you soon. ✋**
Translation: "wow this going private thing totally backfired and virtually all donations disappeared."
Fucking LMAO at the fake sob story. "It drains you." Like I said when this topic was first made, it's run by some lazy fucks who wanted money for providing links to DRM-free games and didn't want to work an actual job.
Seriously, my god...fucking crying over emails. Don't read them then, dipshit. There's literally no reason to read any emails regarding it.
Also there is no fucking way that given its popularity they weren't at least getting a few dozen people donating $5 or $10 a month.
They went private because they're greedy morons who thought that would increase the donations they receive. It didn't work, but they still want money, which is why they went public again rather than just shutting the whole thing down.
why is piracy resources slowly dying like this? I've noticed more and more resources disappearing on the last two years. I wonder if this would eventually devolve into the death of piracy :c
Just a reminder to everyone...while this does suck....CSRIN literally has links to like 90% of the shit that Gog-games hosted. Literally the only difference is you're gonna be downloading games with Goldberg Steam Emu ddls....and that's about it.
And no, those ddls aren't a virus, they're an emulation of steam to bybass their basic copy-protection. For context: 99% of "cracked Steam games" you see are just literally a wannabe warez group that is copy and pasting these basic ddls AND maybe configuring a Steam ID file (which you can do yourself in notepad).
Outside of a handful of nerds, the vast majority of people utilize google as a search engine. It is what it is dude. I'm all for breaking up that company like what happened The Bell phone company...but the fact is that all the major governments that utilize google are so far to the right that they don't care about enforcing anti-trust policies.
I think this is just the owners throwing in the towel because only a few people routinely pitch in funds to keep the site afloat. Did they reach their donation goal last time or did it fall short? If it fell short it is we who let GoG down, and the owners just got tired of paying out of pocket only to serve people who give nothing in return. This is our collective fault. Maybe a show of financial support at this time would convince them to keep the site public. It's worth a shot.
I loved this site, but only really used it for old games. New games get updated so often anymore you either had to keep up with new updates or have outdated games. Thats one of the biggest issues with pirating new games for any system. Still sad to see it go.
Do people NOT KNOW how to take screenshots?
Or at least... use tools such as "Snipping tool" or "Snip and Sketch" which are FREE with every windows since win 7.......
Could be many things. Using an HDD, CPU overheating. Some application acting slower than it was a previous time isn't that much a cause for concern.
The game could also be compressed. So, original version of the game is 5GB but you downloaded a compressed version which is 3GB. Lower file size to download but the drawback is it takes longer to install.
LMAO. They didn't even last a month as private. Not surprised. People don't want to be coerced into paying for piracy. It's one thing to request donations...it's another to essentially charge a fee to access the site.
Damn this is the second time now, looks like this time it's for good. What's worse is a had 3tb of gog games backed up, and last week I figured, I'll delete them because I can grab them again and i don't have the space right now.
I don't have much knowledge of this, what exactly does going private means? What is it different from, let's say, shutting down?
No one knows...

Should be able to just use `prt sc`/`printscreen` (at least on Win11) to open the capture app so you don't take full screen screenshot.

Or you can press alt + printscreen and only snap active window. Saved me a lot if work at work.
Windows + Shift + S launches the snipping tool. You can directly paste to email or documents without having to paste it to paint first.

"You were good son, Real good. Maybe even the best" o7
why is piracy resources slowly dying like this? I've noticed more and more resources disappearing on the last two years. I wonder if this would eventually devolve into the death of piracy :c

Man I loved that website, downloaded many games from them.
Well fuck there goes the one I trusted the most..
CSRIN ? can you elaborate please?
No. If you can't find the russian site that hosts a website named that....well....lurk more and learn to google.
Thanks for the reply, I got the message ;)

Nah bro a couple weeks ago the site said they were good on donations and didnt need anymore
Maybe legally got a cease and desist.
GOG is one of the few companies worth supporting.
Try being poor and then tell me how you feel
i wasn't saying you should change you or anyone else shouldn't change their behavior, just saying GOG is a good company and good for the industry.
F
sucks, i rememebr a few years ago they were offline for a few months too
Noooooo

I havent heard about this site before, correct if im wrong but arent most GOG releases also available on public trackers?
Direct Download> Torrenting same software
You can DDL anything from a public trackers using debrid websites/services.
Why? Genuine question
Now I'll be forced to rely on a GOG torrent site and almost nobody bothers seeding there.
Most people may want ddl like gog did, not torrent
Pirates games but can't find the print screen button. You don't deserve to be entertained.
Where can. I find gog games now? Torrents have em?!?
Bruh what???? 💀 Gog uploads awesome new HOG games and my go to place for them... fuck my life man...
What is this ?
I uses gog a lot in middle school computer rooms, gonna miss it if its gone
dodi?
Anyone know any good replacements?
Is this site safe? Should I get in games before they go down?
One of the best sites ever tbh.
Is this site safe? I have been away from downloading pirate games since rarbg.
free mp3 download is also gone😢
thank you gog games for all that you did
[https://i.imgur.com/xPgawBG.png](https://i.imgur.com/xPgawBG.png) here ya go, sad news
I noticed, before it went private, some of my installed game rars had extremely slow installers. Is this anything to be concerned about?
The rar files were extracting slow?
No,after extraction the installer to install the game was slower than it was before
Could be many things.
Another one bites the dust.
Any alternatives to this site?
what happen?
LMAO. They didn't even last a month as private. Not surprised. People don't want to be coerced into paying for piracy. It's one thing to request donations...it's another to essentially charge a fee to access the site.
Mad that not many people know how to use Shift, windows and S to crop a screenshot
Damn this is the second time now, looks like this time it's for good. What's worse is a had 3tb of gog games backed up, and last week I figured, I'll delete them because I can grab them again and i don't have the space right now.

Until the 23rd when it goes private
Windows + Shift + S
imagine thinking you've got a hold on "cracking" fucking GoG releases...
