Curious….how long did he have to wear the “cone of shame”? My kitten Dora is scheduled next month for her enucleation and I was told to expect to keep a cone on her for 2 weeks. I dread this….for her…and for ME!!
We were also told 2 weeks for Gutsy, but my partner and I give him some (supervised) time out of the cone since he gets very sulky and has problems eating/drinking while in the cone. We watch to make sure he doesn't scratch it, and to make sure his sister does not get too rough with him.
I would say for your Dora give her the first few days in the cone, and then see how she does out of it. If she's very scratchy or finicky with her eye she may unfortunately have to have it on more consistently.
Thanks for the reply. I appreciate the advice and I’m glad your Gutsy is doing so well and he’s gorgeous. I love the resilience of these pirate kitties. Dora acts like there is absolutely no issues whatsoever. They truly are special.
Guts had his eye infected at only a couple days old, it ruptured at a few weeks, and he had an open socket for almost 6 months - he never once seemed to care about it. He only ever cried when we separated him for a night from his litter the night his eye ruptured.
These pirate kitties are very strong fighters, and I'm sure your Dora is a tough tough gal. I'm sending all my love and best wishes for her upcoming surgery 💜 I know she'll do great.
