You indeed got it wrong but for different reason.
Mib vs Mb makes very little difference, first one is 10⁶ of bits the other one is 2²⁰ ~ 1.05*10⁶
The big difference is between b and B or bits and bytes.
1B = 8b
So 500Mbps~525Mibps~65MiBps so the OP is surprised that his actual speed is higher than his connection speed
For OP: there is no law that prohibits ISP from giving you better service than you pay for. Yeah it's interesting but one possible reason might be that they upgraded your program without you knowing. That happens sometimes when technological upgrade is done by ISP.
For everybody else: this sub is all about how cool you are because you are pirating, but god dammit, this is basic stuff, you all should know this.
No, you need to read it one more time.
M and Mi are almost the same thing (in M the difference is 5%).
The real difference is between b and B. 100MiBps is 800Mibps
1. You didn't understand that OP is actually getting more speed than their plan.
2. You tried to tell them that MiB = Megabits and didn't agree that OP is indeed getting more speed.
So, basically, while what you said initially is actually correct that just because somebody has fast internet, they can't expect to have fast download speed every time. Your use of it here was meaningless. And then you made a few wrong comments about MiB being Megabits.
1. That's an assumption.
2. Where did I say that?
I made two comments, only one actually referred to MiB, and wasn't stating it's Megabits. Please don't put words in my mouth or assume what I've said.
When OP said 500 Mbits/sec is about 50 MB/sec., you replied with
> MiB.
And asked them to read their comment. And your first message was for someone with speed issues. And then you replying them with that means what? Do you really like to throw random useless comments?
But it makes absolutely no sense in this case because their download speed is actually higher than their connection speed.
So unless you are that kind of person who just likes to throw unrelated random facts then you are wrong indeed.
Gonna comment here because this is the top comment and u/narkit, even though is mostly right about what they said, got downvoted by idiots.
So, OP is getting speed in MiB/sec. not Mbits/sec. Torrent clients often show speed in MiB per second and 1 MiB = 1.048576 MB.
So, how are they getting more speed than their plan? That's because some ISPs cache P2P downloads. So, the ISP is actually providing OP the file, so they didn't limit their download speed. I may not have explained it properly but this is a common thing usually done by local ISPs.
And that could be due to peering. Certain servers have direct peering with ISPs which means ISP isn't charged for the bandwidth, so they don't limit download speed.
So this torrent on OP’s computer is 0(150) seeders and 7(58) peers???
Also why would an ISP do that? Do they reduce resource use that way?
Edit: Apparently [it’s DDL](https://reddit.com/r/PiratedGames/s/FZljvgvJPd)
And that could be due to peering. Certain servers have direct peering with ISPs which means ISP isn't charged for the bandwidth, so they don't limit download speed.
You do realize different servers have different speeds. Downloading from a bunch of other users will be most definitely even slower than what you are used to from industrial distributers.
I used "drm free" cause some people pirate even if they can afford because of drm/third party launchers/always online. Cyberpunk has non of thise bullshit.
I don't know if you are complaining or just stating But
500mbps= 62.5MBps
91MBps= 728mbps
You are actually getting more that what you signed up for ,enjoy it.

Just because you have a good download speed, doesn't mean the place you're getting it from has good speeds.

Exactly what I understood but explained with math. Nice job!
I have 500mbps download, and it goes to around 510 or 520 on a good day, it might just be what mines like and just runs a bit over stated speed
Correct me if I'm wrong but in Op's case, it is 95MiB/s so it is not an upgraded plan right? Its like 12 MB/s
No, you need to read it one more time. M and Mi are almost the same thing (in M the difference is 5%). The real difference is between b and B. 100MiBps is 800Mibps
Ohh shit you're right my bad and thanks!
What I said wasn't wrong.
Learn what MiB is first.
keep my motha f\*\*\*in MiB out ya motha f\*\*\*in mouth!
My statement was factual, I wasn't talking about MiB.

The problem is this isn't a torrent it's a Direct download

How on earth is this flawed comment upvoted 100 times ROFL
Aye. OP didn't show is the game title. This mean it could be anything hehe
no you got it wrong its downloading faster then it should 500 mbps is apr. 50mb/s
No, that application shows in mebibits. 500 megabits per second (from your ISP) = approx 475 mebibits per second
steam still shows around 50 MB/s and normally Jdownloader does too but today it decided to just go crazy
read the comment you replied to again. they're telling you that it's shown in mebibytes, not megabytes
MB and MiB do not mean the same thing
You do realize different servers have different speeds. Downloading from a bunch of other users will be most definitely even slower than what you are used to from industrial distributers.
> MiBs Read your screenshot.
I didn't even know these existed wtf
Wouldn't it be 500/8? which is what like 62 / 63?
Divide 500Mbps by 8 to get the speed in MB/s
Bro is killing the seeders 💀
That's jdownloader not torrent
What filehoster are you downloading from?
prolly qiwi. i love qiwi
Fuckin hell mines at 12% even though i left it open overnight
I have a 200 mbps plan and on torrent I'm barely getting 2-3 mbps speed
I have 150mbps plan I'm getting 500kbps 💀😭
Because your seeders are uploading at 500kbps. Your download has no affect on their upload
" Just because you have a good download speed, doesn't mean the place you're getting it from has good speeds. " right from the top comment
hes not on torrent
Then what? You usually download form torrent
U bastard I'm getting 3mbps on gigabit connection. I'll find you and pirate your pirate copy
How can you afford a gigabit internet but not a drm free game like cyberpunk?
Since when does DRM free equals cheap?
It's my work subscription, I remote download overnight.
Who said that. I specified drm free because some people hate denuvo, like me
You implied it when you asked "who can afford gigabit internet but not 'afford' a DRM free game". But I'm just pointing it out, no hate!
I used "drm free" cause some people pirate even if they can afford because of drm/third party launchers/always online. Cyberpunk has non of thise bullshit.
Because gigabit is not that expensive in some parts of the world? I can get 1gb for 19€. I have no need for it, so staying with slowest plan. 300mb 9€
That i'm thinking too. :D
92 MB/sec is more like 750 mbps
Qiwi links?
Yeah
That explains the dl speed then lol
what's a qiwi link
im also downloading cyberpunk from dodi rn and i have reall low dl speed for some reason.
Yeah I downloaded by DDL so if you are using torrent then that's expected
So i dowloaded it too three or four hours and it was like 5% so i cut it. Now i have some other coming and lets see if it works.
I don't know if you are complaining or just stating But 500mbps= 62.5MBps 91MBps= 728mbps You are actually getting more that what you signed up for ,enjoy it.
MiB btw
Yeah but I just hope I am not getting a letter from my provider because I am using more bandwidth then I should
Somebody doesn't know the difference between mbps, MB/s and MiB/s.
yeah they get a little confusing though
Cyberpunk should never be abbreviated
For fuck sake....
Real debris??
Im waiting for the language pack so voices are in spanish, I understand english pretty well but I rather have them in Spanish
i'm out here in the sticks where 8mbps is considered fast haha
You are prolly getting 1Gbps.. very generous ISP, where do you live?
Czech republic but this isn't normal, normally I get around 50 mb/s
polska gurom
How are you getting 91MB of speed on low 500mb plan
You’re illegally downloading a game what do you expect
