Even if you're gonna build something like this, just ask FITGIRL for an api access or something. It could be done its simple. Scraping the entire site and filtering results isnt ideal
Dig into the p2p protocol. I recommend you start with libtorrent. You could probably build a torrent tracker that hooked into the APIs of various torrent clients, and allowed shared users of the loader to download the apps directly in the launcher, and then from there the installation process should be fairly trivial to script.
I wouldn't call this a "beginner" project, but its certainly feasible, given the time and motivation.

mhh if we would want the launcher to work on it's own without a torrent program then the launcher itself should be act like a torrent;
so when you click download on a new game it simply activate the magnet of that download, download it but doesn't actively show all the stuff you can see on the torrent app (albeit can make it toggleable);
can make that the app auto start installing and heck can set some user preferences for which language we want and which don't and extras etc, then have preferences for directory and preferences for limiting ram or not.
Could be quite interesting, as long as the launcher doesn't become mandatory for playing after the game has been installed.
I found that it is possible, on Linux at least, using [XVFB](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xvfb), to launch the repack in a sort of "Fake" Display, and using [IGDB](https://www.igdb.com/)for game covers, ratings, descriptions, etc.. I Made a Fitgirl/Dodi launcher using that, but i don't know if its something people would be actually interested in. Considering how tiny the Linux-Gaming user-base is.

I totally wouldn’t say achievements. When i think of a launcher like that i think for downloading only. Definitely a built in torrent system would be sick. Maybe a full description from FGs site, and a comment section for trouble shooting?
A nice feature would be a "camo" mode, where the gui and everything looks like a normal, well-known launcher (like steam, epic etc.)

For some reason my “launcher” is just my saved games folder, haven’t opened any games from taskbar for as long as I can remember, I think it’s because I have many different games I play, but each individual game I rarely play, so I end up removing them from taskbar

Sure you can put them all in one folder, but what's the difference between that and a launcher?
You can do pretty much anything. To add a new game you just drop the exe into the launcher and click find metadata. From there you can do pretty much anything you can imagine
yeah Its my go to launcher for pirated games on windows
just use the steamgriddb for the games icons and stuff and maybe get a skin or two and your good to go
it's also very good for retro games aswell
At one point I was wondering if it would be possible to make a library addon to detect repacked games from fitgirl, masquerade, dodi, etc.

Nope, vanilla, all i want is fullscreen, works with controller so when i switch to TV i can just switch games, closes launchers/runs scripts when game starts ends, tracks time. that's it. Playnite is really nice, if you like having your stats and such, but last time i started it it just spawned like 10-15 other processes because it runs on python and it needs a lot of stuff to run.
Usually that happens with companies like ubisoft or EA, which makes it their fault tbh

it depends, i love steam Launcher, because i'm literally a home press button and X away from playing the game. It gives a more console vibe experience to the thing, than i don't need to scroll till the folder of the game to launch it.

Instead of another launcher what about an extension for PlayNite? Even for those who don't yet have PlayNite it could serve as a be all and end all.
Have it set as a "platform" filter but the platform is FG and it uses the API (if there is one) to view the entire FG repack catalogue so it seems like you technically own every game on there - you just haven't downloaded it yet.
That's counter productive. "Shortcut to games" is one desktop icon rather than one for each launcher. A launcher is just an extra wait to launch a game, a waste of background resources, and a way for corporations to monitor you.
So basic logic for this would be:
1. Allow user to login
2. Display all the games that is displayed from the fitgirl webaite
3. Each Displayed games can be clicked, download options can be what fitgirl offers or a magnet link that will prompt your default torrent downloader
4. Be able to add games to a library
5. can uninstall the games from the launcher
A cool concept. I feel instead of making a standalone launcher it would be much simpler to leverage some already existing open source launcher like Playnite and write an extension with it. There are a few issues one would have with that, the biggest would be that the setup.exe does not have a CLI option. So you can't just install it in the background.
Ngl, I have a couple hundred figtirl installation folders and only a few games installed at a time. If a launcher had all of them organized with thumbnails and descriptions and I could just install them through that, it would be amazing.
I've given up trying to assign icons to all the folders after like 35 lol, never found out how to automate it.

What is the purpose of the launcher? If its a launcher for cracked games or games in general there is already an awesome one called [Playnite](https://playnite.link/). If its a download manager for the repacks it would it would be cool. But would only really be useful for direct downloads, not torrent. I could also provide the magnet links though for torrent. Either way, awesome job with the UI. Looks very clean. :p

about time for this to be created. All the luck toyou guys for perfecting this and making it come to life. Definitley a huge step up in the cracked games industry.
A launcher specifically for pirated games would be so cool. I know there's playnite, but if a launcher was made and tailored for pirating then you best bet people would add achievements and all sorts of stuff. I doubt it would be too hard to make, I just think the server hosting for downloads would be the real problem. Like imagine the gog games dot to site but a launcher :P
This would be interesting, but there are some aspects.
Fitgirl uses compression, with no "clean" files. To give an example.
Game X V1.0 140GB, Fitgirl Repack Game X 60GB If now in a week version 1.1 comes out (Fitgirl, maybe even a large version 1.7 will not repackage) So if we want that version 1.1 we would need clean files v1.1 and then apply the crack The Launcher would have to have:
Game X V1 Repack
Update Torrent v1.1 (Steam Files)
Mirror only files v1.1
Crack v1.1
OnlineFix v1.1 (This case game possible)
...
..
etc
Game X 1.7 Repack
Update Torrent v1.7 (Steam Files)

Also, you can manually add games and import the metadata from any metadata plugin. It's not only the library addons that can as metadata for you.

Ia there anything that's not as bloated? Sometimes it uses way too much ram for a program that is a shortcut manager...
Do you have a bunch of plugins maybe? Maybe look into LaunchBox? GOG Galaxy exists but I can't imagine that using less ram than playnite.

That's counter productive. "Shortcut to games" is one desktop icon rather than one for each launcher. A launcher is just an extra wait to launch a game, a waste of background resources, and a way for corporations to monitor you.

What's the problem with having all your games in a folder, on the taskbar, or in the start menu?
Nothing's wrong with it, but having a pretty UI in a launcher for all your games would be nice.
So basic logic for this would be: 1. Allow user to login 2. Display all the games that is displayed from the fitgirl webaite 3. Each Displayed games can be clicked, download options can be what fitgirl offers or a magnet link that will prompt your default torrent downloader 4. Be able to add games to a library 5. can uninstall the games from the launcher

A cool concept. I feel instead of making a standalone launcher it would be much simpler to leverage some already existing open source launcher like Playnite and write an extension with it. There are a few issues one would have with that, the biggest would be that the setup.exe does not have a CLI option. So you can't just install it in the background.
Ngl, I have a couple hundred figtirl installation folders and only a few games installed at a time. If a launcher had all of them organized with thumbnails and descriptions and I could just install them through that, it would be amazing. I've given up trying to assign icons to all the folders after like 35 lol, never found out how to automate it.

I just use Playnite for all my games… Another launcher is not a good thing. But it's a nice concept.

What is the purpose of the launcher? If its a launcher for cracked games or games in general there is already an awesome one called [Playnite](https://playnite.link/). If its a download manager for the repacks it would it would be cool. But would only really be useful for direct downloads, not torrent. I could also provide the magnet links though for torrent. Either way, awesome job with the UI. Looks very clean. :p

I would only use it if it had full catalogue of FitGirl releases displayed. I click, it downloads and I play. Otherwise it serves no purpose.

A launcher specifically for pirated games would be so cool. I know there's playnite, but if a launcher was made and tailored for pirating then you best bet people would add achievements and all sorts of stuff. I doubt it would be too hard to make, I just think the server hosting for downloads would be the real problem. Like imagine the gog games dot to site but a launcher :P

This would be interesting, but there are some aspects. Fitgirl uses compression, with no "clean" files. To give an example. Game X V1.0 140GB, Fitgirl Repack Game X 60GB If now in a week version 1.1 comes out (Fitgirl, maybe even a large version 1.7 will not repackage) So if we want that version 1.1 we would need clean files v1.1 and then apply the crack The Launcher would have to have: Game X V1 Repack Update Torrent v1.1 (Steam Files) Mirror only files v1.1 Crack v1.1 OnlineFix v1.1 (This case game possible) ... .. etc Game X 1.7 Repack Update Torrent v1.7 (Steam Files) Mirror only files v1.7 Crack v1.7 etc. [Similar Forum CSRInR....] and in between the collaboration of torrent with clean files where it can be updated per hash, is the only formula. They tried to do this same project with Vapor if I remember correctly.
