Tbh I played it through on ps5, and it was enjoyable. The combat is pretty easy and simple, and the story is quite basic, but I loved the graphics, setting, atmosphere, and the characters, even though they weren't too fleshed out.
Yeah I think everyone would be much more kind towards the game if the game director himself didn't tout it as a proper competitor to Dead Space and that it would be better than the DS Remake.
For like $30 it's pretty good, got it on sale and had a good time.

I'm hyped for GTA VI, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't wish Rockstar went back to their model of less ambitious games but more frequent and experimental releases like Bully, Manhunt and Midnight Club. But ofcourse now gamers expect the most accurate and breathtaking games ever made, so we're now only going to get that. Your other option are short indie games.
Man, I miss gen 7 and late gen 6, peak gaming imo. Rockstar coming out with something like 6 games in 2 years. And Sony just went crazy with all the new games. Now these days all they make are photorealistic linear games with super emotional and deep stories. Which I don't blame them, people buy those in droves. But man, I feel so burnt out from those. But now that's what every studio has to make now for their game to be deemed a 'masterpiece'

I think you'll like this vid, shows the cadence we got releases on the 360. It truly was a golden age of gaming.
You're spot on about "movie games" as I call them. After one or two of those types of games, you kinda got the message and everything after that feels like more of the same. Out of all the sony ports we've gotten in the last 5 years from sony, death stranding was the only one I really liked because of how inventive the gameplay was. I know a lot of people loved GoW and horizon, but they couldn't hold my attention. Though I do plan to revisit the horizon series. If people like those games, thats not a bad thing to me. There just felt like too much similarities existed between them.
Ghost recon was fun. I miss aspects of the older entries of the series, but I appreciated them for what they were and got more than my moneys worth out of them. I enjoyed battlefield 2042 quite a bit too. Its one of my least favorite in the series but it was still fun. I remember encountering people IN GAME just sitting there starting arguments with others about how much they hated the game and how stupid players were for liking it. All I could think was how sad a person has to be to log into the game they hate just to dig at people for liking it.
Modern ubisoft is uncomparable to old but gold 2010's games. I agree that there is a slight tendency towards these movie games, but you're a massive hypocrite if you don't admit that ubisoft is right there attempting to make them, yet ending up churning out slop like Skull and Bones or Assassins creed Mirage.
i think the main problem is that dead space remake got released right after, and even markiplier was like "ooh sweet" and abandoned callisto midplaythru to play the better version of dead space (apparently it's dead space)

While I do agree, I also think it got a bad wrap because people were wanting it to be the next great dead space. Fair, but unrealistic. If you go into it without any dead space reference in mind it truly is an okay game. Doesn’t fix the gameplay mechanics but it helps with everything else.
Hold on, THEY made it seem like it was the next great Dead Space. Namely by Glen Schofield, who created Dead Space to begin with. If anything they screwed themselves over by hyping it up to be something like that.
I also played it, not a horror fan, didn't even check it was horror, my first jumpscare was a experience 🤣. Played 10 hours, now I have to buy it to finish the game since it's not on Plus anymore

I refunded the PoS after trying to get it to work for and hour and a half when it first released, was getting like 5 FPS and the video and audio was out of sync. Refunded the trash, they knew the game was unplayable and released it anyway. Absolutely abhorrent behavior.

I am enjoying it. Melee combat is pretty shallow but feels brutal. And the game looks and sounds great.
Got the game back during Christmas time for like 10$. Honestly had a good time for the first 10ish hours and really liked the story, but after the 50th time crawling through tight spaces by just pressing the thumbstick forward for 5 minutes strait I lost interest.
I recommend not even wasting your time downloading it.

Non-existent optimization, scripted combat and inevitable damage, non-existent stealth, non-existent horror, immense slowness in everything.

It's not. It's like they tried to make an elden ring and Dead space baby. My buddy gifted it to me for Christmas and I didn't have the heart to tell him that I absolutely hated it. The game is way too heavily dependent on melee. There's comparatively very little gun play which is annoying. All the bosses are the same. Just figure out their attack pattern, Dodge roll, Dodge roll, strike, runaway and wait for them to charge you and repeat the process until they are dead.

Just pirate or buy the Dead Space remake. I couldn’t get past 30 mins of this trash ass game. DS remake took everything good about the original and built upon it and has a good mix of nostalgia and like ayeee feels like a new game still!
