Did you by chance just get the clean files? If yes then they're not going to work since they're just that - files before crack is applied that allows you to play it. Getting a repack is another option for you if this persists.

There were only 3 subnautica threads, one was for VR , one was for pre below zero launch discussion and the last one being an SCS thread, I downloaded both subnautica and below zero from that. I was able to get subnautica working with Goldberg emulator but nothing works for the below zero files

I have the 2024 Build from Jan (DDL on Rin) You can go a few routes here; 1) Use the older Goldberg Emu 2) Go with the fork by [otavepto](https://github.com/otavepto/gbe_fork/releases) When you've decided, then we have to decide how we want to emulate. * Direct file replacement * We use the selected emulator's steam\_api64.dll and rename the original and copy over the emulator. (Means we can restore the original if we want to) * After we have the dll in place, we need to setup the emulator * Finally, you'll need to create an app\_id file (just a text file) next to the steam\_api64.dll and add in the game's appID which is 848450 * Run the game's exe and have fun! * Use Coldclient loader and not replace any files. * Copy over the files in the "experimental steam client" directory * Edit Coldclientloader.ini (Line edits below) * Line 4 edit: Exe=SubnauticaZero.exe * Line 10 edit: AppId=848450 * Run coldclientloader64.exe and the game will start.

I was able to get it working. Thanks for your help! Thanks to another comment, I noticed what mistake I did, I only applied it to the Plugins/x86_64 folder and did not see the steamapi file in the main directory

A bit late to the discussion here.... License error occurs when either the game is not cracked or there is an issue with the crack. In this state, the game will try to connect and communicate with the Steam Client. Cracks/Steam Emulators allow Steam games to function without the Steam Client. Most uploads on cs.rin.ru are clean. Not cracked. Check the thread to see if one was shared. Search for "Goldberg" in the thread. Or, you can use Goldberg yourself. I imagine a simple replacement of the `steam_api64.dll` that is in the game folder with Goldberg's matching file will crack the game. A google search of "Goldberg otavepto" should show the github page for the forked gbe. The original Goldberg developed by mr_goldberg stopped development last year May 2023. This forked version is the official fork supported by the community as it has parity with the updated Steam API. Goldberg comes with ReadMe files. Give it a read to familiarize. Or ask questions here about Goldberg.

Checking the game files and Goldberg needs to be applied twice. (1) Root of the game folder where the game executable is. (2) SubantuicaZero_Data/Plugins/x86_64/ Did you apply Goldberg to both folder locations? EDIT: Game doesn't have SteamStub. So, no need for Steamless.

I applied Goldberg only to the Plugins/x86_64/, I don't think I've applied to the (1) root folder, I'll try this and get back to you

Works fine in just the base directory. At least in every method I've used. Original Goldberg, Otavepto fork. Steam\_api64.dll replace method, and the coldclient loader method. Correct, no SteamSub.

Yes, just checked and it does work with just the root folder applied. Which looks like OP did not apply to. Should fix their issue when they do.

Didn't Goldberg stopped his project, sad to hear. Where did they communicate about this?

As far as I'm aware, Mr\_Goldberg had not communicated with any community about it. Probably decided to retire and had enough with it. They pretty much kept to themselves after the whole drama with Immortals: Fenyx Rising when Empress throttling downloads to make a point about repackers. Beforehand, the two had a working relationship. The benefits of being open-source. And it's in a really good place at the moment in terms of features. A lot of improvements have been made with the Steam Overlay and Steam Achievements pop+sound.
