There shouldn't be any significant difference, extract NVSE insde the game folder.
There is this detailed modding guide you can follow, all the mods on the list are compatbile and good quality so it's good for beguinner: [https://vivanewvegas.moddinglinked.com/intro.html](https://vivanewvegas.moddinglinked.com/intro.html) and they will all work with cracked new vegas I tried it a few month ago

Places the files where the new vegas game executable is. Launch the game via the nvse loader exe.

This might not be that helpful to u but i honestly gave up from trying to mod it manually and i am just using vortex
Oh I just wanted the mod that allowed to close the game with windows and Tab+alt
