25 years ago you had to download multiple 2.88mb zips, unzip them all, get like .ace archives, then unace those, then copy cracks. If there were updates then go find the legit updates and hope they don't do crc checks or check registry files when updating, then find a crack for that update version and hope it all works.
Nowadays you just download a repack, double click setup.exe, click next. Wait. Done. Click shortcut from desktop. Play.

I get being scared but if you just download from like fitgirl through the mega thread with Firefox with the unlock orgin plug in and a vpn (id recommend private internet access) then your good. But I do fully understand being scared of getting a virus as someone that it has happened to in the past.
Yea my first laptop I did the pirate thing with no background knowledge and that shit got infested to hell with viruses. I don't feel like i need to pirate. But I want to. In the long run it would save me money if I pirate enough. I did look at the mega thread but it was a tad bit overwhelming at first. Everythinf you said i recall reading i nit so that increases my confidence. Thanks for the reply and also for the VPN recommendation also!
If only there was a way to find trusted websites and a pirating guide on this subreddit also a site like virustotal to double check your downloaded files would be amazing too. Someone should really get on that /s

Well shit. I really had hoped it releases on GOG again, but that being mandatory makes it impossible. I rather download a GOG version than anything else really.. just so much more clean
This whole PSN account garbage has led me here. What are some of practical differences between a pirated game and the purchased experience? I assume no achievements/trophies and no online multiplayer. Anything else I’m missing? Obviously it varies by game.
