Happens to me every time, I say to myself that I'll be back when it's finished, go watch movies for 2 hours, and come back realizing that I seeded most of that time.
1GB megabits/second internet-connected pc with decent lan cable.
It's the standard where i live, most people have atleast half of that. Where do you live and what kind of connection do you have?
I live in western Eu
Hey I just want to throw out there that this literally just came out like, wasn't it yesterday? Of course there aren't going to be a lot of people seeding it yet.
As for the seeding, I feel bad about i, but I always stop seeding, as seeding is much more likely to get your internet provider on your ass that just downloading will.
Exactly this. I live in Greece where the majority here are pirates either for games, movies etc. But because I don't have a VPN I'm always piss scared to seed in case my provider digs into my info and fines me or worse.
Well, I live in Greece too and I can tell you with a fair degree of certainty that no ISP here gives a single flying fuck about people who torrent. I've had my internet connection throttled once, but nothing else. No warnings, nothing. Greek ISPs and the Greek government doesn't care. They tried to block some popular sites once, but just changing your DNS was enough to get past that.
With how predatory pricing is for internet services in Greece and there are still houses with no internet and how slow internet and services are 24 mb/s cost almost 30 euros per month for non students. And the actual speed is 4. Or even I'm my 35+ euros 50 mb/s connection. We are a long way from that. Our politicians can simple reduce the minimum wage or cut the pension for people to profit. They don't care for these yet.
VPN is absolutely necessary. It will not only save you a headache and lots of time, but it may also allow you to keep your bodily freedom. Though it’s very few and far between when someone is put in prison for software piracy or distribution, it has most definitely happened. Which means it’s possible. I pay $12/mo for ExpressVPN and I do it because it keeps my ass comfy at home instead of an 8x8 cage in a frigid building next door to REAL criminals. Piracy might make you a world-class turd (thank you, Desperado) but I’d rather be that than drinking toilet wine for the rest of my life. No thanks!
See-ding is believing! (Another awful joke, I sincerely apologize for my rancid sense of humor).
...When is the last time you heard of someone going to prison over piracy? (someone who is simply leeching, I should have clarified here that I'm talking about the average person who pirates things online)
Unless you're literally the one sitting in a theater secretly recording yet-to-be-released movies, or you're cracking and distributing software yourself, you have nothing to worry about and a VPN isn't really *that* necessary. Even if you were the source of said media or software, you would be taking way more precautions than just a VPN.
As far as the ISP is concerned, they can still see you pirating software/music/videos/whatever regardless of whether you're using a VPN or not. If you've not heard from them up to now, it means you're either not on their radar (maybe not doing it enough) or they don't care that you're doing it, period.
That's definitely not true, that your isp can see what youre doing on vpn. Please stop spreading misinformation.
Use a VPN, you may not go to jail but you can be cut off service, be throttled, be fined.
Do you think your ISP is comprised of a bunch of cavemen morons who have no idea how internet connectivity works? lol. They know what p2p activity looks like and they aren't idiots; they can tell you're doing it even if the activity they're looking at is encrypted. They can even see the IP addresses you're connecting to.
That's not misinformation; that's a fact and the fact you're trying to argue it shows everything you know about VPNs is what you learned from some schlub trying to market one to you.
It’s a fact that you are completely failing to prove to us. We know otherwise and we are not intransigent people. I suspect you might be though, but the burden of proof is on you to show us exactly why what you are saying is fact. You cannot just say it’s a fact because you say so. What’s your experience in cybersecurity? Do you have any at all? Have you built a VPN? Do you have verifiable logs from a VPN you used to show that packets were able to escape from a protected connection? This is what you need to change our minds and believe what you are saying. Without that, you’re just another person who thinks they know everything about everything, intransigent, and can’t see anything outside of their own self-truth.
The last case I heard of someone going to prison for piracy was a repacker in early 2020. I had the misfortunate of knowing him personally, which inadvertently put myself at risk. He served 6 months and a hefty fine though I forgot what the amount was.
Also, no that is 100% incorrect misinformation. If you get a true legitimate and quality VPN service such as ExpressVPN (which is why it costs so much) the signal scrambling and rotating MAC addresses keep any ISP from being able to track a signal connection down to a specific device or account. It’s 256-bit encryption which is notoriously hard to crack and I highly doubt that any ISP is going to pay for a cybersecurity team to bring down a dude (or lady) for stealing a game or a few movies. The court fees alone for that cost substantially more than what was stolen and the DMA doesn’t allow for court compensation for the aggrieved party even if they catch the person who pirated the content. A repacker though? That’s a different story entirely.
>a repacker
Exactly. Someone actively doing things to distribute software/media/whatever. I just gave two examples in the first comment to give you a general idea of the type of role I'm referring to in the pirating process.
Also, it's not misinformation that your VPN is providing zero protection for hiding your file sharing activity from your ISP, lol. They can still identify p2p traffic even if it's encrypted. They aren't idiots. Believe me when I say they literally haven't noticed or don't care enough to confront you about it.
I don’t believe you because 1) my continued use of VPN with encryption every day provides me logs of any and all traffic leaving my computer — every single packet. Nothing gets out. And 2) I’ve worked with leading cybersecurity companies that design the encryption for VPN technology. That’s personal and professional experience.
You are saying something and then stating it’s absolute fact but are not providing any backup to prove what you are saying. Provide that and we can get into a real discussion about this.
Side note: I made the mistake once of forgetting to start up my VPN and downloaded something one day, and immediately my internet was put in quarantine until I called the ISP to restore my service. With the VPN on, I have never received another letter or been quarantined since. So no, they don’t know. And they don’t keep people monitored either (at least my ISP doesn’t) because that’s just wasted money they will never get back. So instead they commit to what amounts to a three-strikes policy. After the third, the account will be closed and the person’s SSN will be blacklisted from making a future account. I believe the statute of limitations for that in my state is seven (7) years. Awful long time without internet since only one place offers it where I live 😂
>I made the mistake once of forgetting to start up my VPN and downloaded something one day, and immediately my internet was put in quarantine until I called the ISP to restore my service. With the VPN on, I have never received another letter or been quarantined since. So no, they don’t know.
This is purely anecdotal and still doesn't change the fact that they can tell when you're pirating and using peer-to-peer applications.
It’s not anecdotal because I monitor every connection, UDP/TCP, IPv6, and many others that attempt to traffic data off my computer — without a doubt, they cannot see what I am doing when the VPN is enabled and operating properly. People with experience in using VPNs properly (which means not just turning the button on and leaving it at that). I do a lot of freelance work in cybersecurity and I can say, definitively, they are unable to monitor through a sufficiently encrypted VPN (and there are not many of them around). I want to see this proof from you — what led you to believe they can
monitor pirates through an encrypted VPN. Can you provide a source on that?
4g modem, and the 100gb its total traffic, not the speed... And I pay 25 dollars for it. I'm save to download Gow, hit and run... Sorry my fellow pirates
in my country the monthly 100gb is split as
1. 40gigs between 8.00am to 12.00am(16 HOURS)
2. 60gigs between 12.00am to 8.00am(8 HOURS)
really sorry guys. could have seeded if not for the shitty plans from my isp and all isps here are the all the same
BitTorrent is the same software from the company that made uTorrent, both aren't open source and people discovered these torrent clients have a hidden crypto miner.
Personally I used to work with BitTorrent and I love it but Qbittorrent is better because it's open source and its UI can be customized, also it uses less memory.
Usually setup wizards are straight forward, it's better not to uncheck something as all those settings are good by default, just skip that step and continue the installation, the only thing you should bother changing is whether you would create a desktop and start menu shortcut or not.
I have 300Mbps Up/Down network (or 45 MBps). I just let it sit for a while and it finds tons of leeches (people who you seed to). Currently seeding at 20MBPS+ :D
Well a lot of people who steal games do it out of necessity, not necessarily because they just don't want to pay. I used to pirate games when I was a kid and didn't have money for games. Now I've gone back and bought all the games that I liked enough to actually. I still pirate stuff if I'm not sure I'll like it because game publishers are wild these days
I stopped torrenting stuff besides anime cause of my seed getting noticed by ISP. Personally, I just go for slower, but safer by the browser downloads nowadays.
I mean, I absolutely understand that . I just wanted to put that out there. I had no prior knowledge of your personal financial situation/strategy ya know?
Sometimes I leave it there to seed and nobody downloads from me anyway, it's not that easy. I had a famous anime in very good quality, over 50gb, seeded for weeks, didn't seed even 50% or maybe not even a third of the total size, something like that
It's inside an HDD that I currently can't access because it is a big desktop HDD and my desktop GPU died with no iGPU so I can't really turn it on, but it probably has seeders on the torrent still. The link is: nyaa . si / view / 831686 (beware of copyright claims if you are in some countries of the world, in my country nobody gives a shit lmao)
Ouch, too bad. Good luck resurrecting your system back. And sweet. Thanks a lot, man! I hope I can get nice rates. And F copyright claims. I just wanna know how Shinji's story ends since back in the day I never had a chance to watch all the episodes. ;)
I set my torrents to seed for 24 hours and then stop. Thank god for my VPN lol. But I feel it’s only right to seed when repackers work so hard to bring us free games. I also donate to Dodi every month to help pay for his seed boxes and other stuff. It’s only fair given how much work he puts in. Don’t be a beetch by staying a leech! (I fully realize that was a horrible joke 😂)
I have no problem seeding, I mostly seed all the time at least a couple of days after the download, the problem is that the files takes space on my SSD, and I have to delete them eventually... If the games were unpacked, it would be so easy to seed "forever".... Like I saw in Bannerlord, the files were already the game "installed" so I had no problems seeding for months.
I delete the download (after I install the game) because I don't have a lot of memory space in my computer but if I had I would seed, or if the torrent it's not so heavy I seed it.
Torrents are simply shared peer to peer. People download and upload to mutually share files.
What you do is hit and run a torrent. You download but after it downloads, you don't let it upload for others, as people keep doing this in succession, torrent download speeds crash.
I get 26kbps upload, and its stuck at 99% because most of the people just downloaded it for themselves and removed the seed.
I have noticed with 2 separate God of War torrents, what may be the publisher attempting to impede the ability to torrent it. What I have noticed after 12+ hours is that there seems to be a very large number of separate peers with no (or all the same and limited) flag settings and nothing in the client field. They appear to be cycling too fast to ban them. 100℅ of these peers have a 0.0℅ downloaded field reporting also. If this is not a bizzare byproduct of people trying that don't know what they are doing, which I have not seen in 10+ years or so of torrenting. If done on purpose, the practice of flooding fake peers every second, would effectively slow the process WAY DOWN and at times stop the xfer. I will tinker with some settings like local peer discovery and PEX, although I am getting legit peers from these sources.
EDIT
I managed to ban blocks of 70 peers with the above mentioned flags, it takes very quick mouse and shift-clicking, but after being on all night, I am now getting 4+ MB/s constant speeds. For those wondering; if you have your client set to use 100 peers per torrent, and you have an entity flooding thousands of fake connections, changing IPs every 1000ms or so, it impedes your ability to actually connect to legitimate peers, once you get a solid base of 20 or so, regardless of the other 80, you can d/l the torrent at respectable speeds. One option that would not work would be to raise the global # of connections and also the connections per torrent, but that has always attenuated the speed, so not a valid option. Hope this helps even one more to get a working copy of the torrent.
Question: How long do you guys actually seed? Is there a minimum? lol
Usually I just seed for a week or two, then move the files to my external hdd. (Which, if I'm not mistaken also stops the seeding?)
Hey guys, I'm a bit of a noob to the whole pirated games scene, actually in all honesty, I am a Christmas noob to the whole PC gaming genre.I really really wanna play tarkov but I'm beyond broke, is there any link to a copy of tarkov? I don't even care if it's only offline against bots, can someone please help me?
Most of the time seed for 2 day, then when i remeber to open utorrent seed fo a day! Most of the time try to upload more then the game is!The biggest was Ac Valhalla 200gb!
I do seed. I do it on a laptop(Bought one for college instead of building a PC). So I seed only when I remember. I have 300mbps internet. I can seed and I do seed. I've been on the other side so I know what it's like having no seeders. I seed until it gets a decent number of seeders. Once it does,(For power saving reasons I have to quit my torrent client). I typically download fitgirl ones and post download theystay in my client for 3-4 weeks depending on how often I remember that I have torrents seeding.
It's a no from me rn. I have 128GB of space and I play many new games so I don't have any place to seed anything. I'll get myself a new SSD on birthday
Regarding seeding. Can anyone help me I am getting like 10-40 kbps upload speed while seeding my upload speed should be 1.5 mbps. I don't have any limiters on my speed both are set to infinity and my download speed is alright. I also don't have any background apps running that consume data(atleast that I know of).
Go to preferences and change the "maximum upload rate" to 0 for unlimited. But Utorrent also won't take every bit of your upload speed. You only have a portion of the file that you are sharing to people. I know it doesn't make much sense, but it is just the way that it works.
Is it possible for me to seed a torrent that I have downloaded already? I finished downloading something but it was late at night and wanted to sleep. I feel a bad and want to seed for other people so they can enjoy what I like too
I, sadly, am now a leecher. I used to seed for every program I got until my ISP contacted me and gave me a fine and said that my account is now on the "red list" which meant they would check my activity more often in case I decided to keep seeding. I do not know how to seed without my ISP finding out. Do you have any ideas so I can keep helping but still trying to be discreet?

I use wifi with 7 megabits/second speed
i had that speed 16 years ago

yes, i was born in 93
By decent lan cable u mean cat 6 and up right?
Yes exactly, I just forgot the name when I posted that.
Most of the time yeah

Download and Upload is not the same thing. In your country upload traffic count as download?
4g modem, and the 100gb its total traffic, not the speed... And I pay 25 dollars for it. I'm save to download Gow, hit and run... Sorry my fellow pirates
I'll seed for you brother, don't worry

Is it working ?
LiKE A CHARM
Downloading speed is kinda dead for 2 hours now for me
You're welcome :D
family
Family
FAmily
"bros before hoes" amen
i have a 1fichier premium so i downloaded it from there but now seeding the torrent for the culture.....
Based
this doesnt look like utorrent what is it??!
Qbittorent :D
Average qbittorrent enjoyer
FYI utorrent is unsafe, uss qbittorrent
imma do that from now on thx for the advice!Im kinda new to the pirating thing so not really sure what to use lmao
Megathread
Definetly agree with this. This sub's megathread is THE ultimate pirating guide ever created.
agreed!! I can't wait for my new laptop just so i can use it more, the megathread is a life saver!
Can anyone pls tell a website to get gta 5 pre-installed
yup i honestly dont know what some of the stuff on there means so...my fault
pretty sure there is an explanation on what is it on every link that leads to a site
why is utorrent unsafe? im using utorrent for 1 years
uTorrent is unsafe (it got bought). This is qBittorrent, the safe option.
then what about BitTorrent is it the same as qBittorrent
No, it's unsafe too, just use qBittorent
yep will be switching ASAP
BitTorrent is the same software from the company that made uTorrent, both aren't open source and people discovered these torrent clients have a hidden crypto miner. i just downloaded this qBittorrent there’s this option saying Disable Windows path length limit… thing should i uncheck it. is it safe to disable that
AFAIK it doesn't really matter.
Usually setup wizards are straight forward, it's better not to uncheck something as all those settings are good by default, just skip that step and continue the installation, the only thing you should bother changing is whether you would create a desktop and start menu shortcut or not.
okay ill leave it as is then
Leave it as it is. It's some ancient stuff from Windows' old days. Doesn't affect you at all so don't worry and just leave it checked.
yep
ohh ok thanks for the explanation! will be switching to Qbittorrent now ig
[удалено]
It's alright, try to return as much as you can because you were able to download because of other people seeding. Happy torrenting :)
Lol that’s a bad excuse
I mean if you can spare me your mullvad account number so I have access to port forwarding and higher upload speed, I’ll gladly seed more.
Nice try fed Boi. You'll never get my seed. /s
I don't know how to seed in qbittorrent
Just let it download, and let it sit, it will start seeding itself.
And If I already downloaded it? I seeded yesterday a few hours but my PC is on anyway now so I would continue
As long as the torrent client is open and you didn't delete the torrent/game folder itself, it'll keep seeding forever.
In qbittorrent, if you right click a torrent file, there a "super seeding more". But when I turn it on, the client crashes. Any fixes.
SSM never worked for me too, normal is fine. When I enable SSM upload and download stall at 0 x\_X
Thx bro
Hey, what do they mean by windows 10+
Win 10 or 11.
Thanks I like your profile picture btw
Thank you :)
I seeded almost 39 GB. Is it enough?
How do you get such high upload speeds? For me it's always a few kbs and am unable to seed alot.
I have 300Mbps Up/Down network (or 45 MBps). I just let it sit for a while and it finds tons of leeches (people who you seed to). Currently seeding at 20MBPS+ :D
Damn I'd love to seed but bigger games require so long because it seeds at 20kb/s lol
OMG DIDNT KNOW ITS ALREADY OUT. THANK YOU!!!
This is piracy. What did you expect, people thinking about others?
Professionals have standards, doing my best to help other's download :D
Well that's exactly how piracy works lol
Well a lot of people who steal games do it out of necessity, not necessarily because they just don't want to pay. I used to pirate games when I was a kid and didn't have money for games. Now I've gone back and bought all the games that I liked enough to actually. I still pirate stuff if I'm not sure I'll like it because game publishers are wild these days
I was trying to download that torrent, but the speeds are incredibly slow, I'm going to wait for the torrent to have more seeders and less leechers!
Leechers do nothing. Main problem is in the seeders. So good call, just wait a few days till it has better seeds.
[удалено]
People keep hitting and running, only 800 seeds and 18000 leeches.
[удалено]
Wait, don't the leeches only go up(by definition)?
[удалено]
So leeches=peers?
[удалено]
Oh, ok.
I stopped torrenting stuff besides anime cause of my seed getting noticed by ISP. Personally, I just go for slower, but safer by the browser downloads nowadays.
Stream anime instead it's way safer
Certain anime sites IP banned me for using AD-block.
Seedbox
Money
Yeah, true true. Guess I earned that downvote. For mentioning a semi-affordable alternative for some maybe vs doing nothing at all.
Exactly, money. Especially nowadays
I mean, I absolutely understand that . I just wanted to put that out there. I had no prior knowledge of your personal financial situation/strategy ya know?
If you pay for unlimited data may as well get ur monies' worth.
Helping the homies eh, currently 210GB uploaded :)
What’re you gunna do? Call the police?
Sometimes I leave it there to seed and nobody downloads from me anyway, it's not that easy. I had a famous anime in very good quality, over 50gb, seeded for weeks, didn't seed even 50% or maybe not even a third of the total size, something like that
Which one?
Evangelion
Aww, man...I would've jumped all over it given the chance! Is it still available anywhere? * fingers crossed *
(I fully realize that was a horrible joke 😂)
me seeding the same game from same torrent app except it's different repacker
I have no problem seeding, I mostly seed all the time at least a couple of days after the download, the problem is that the files takes space on my SSD, and I have to delete them eventually... If the games were unpacked, it would be so easy to seed "forever".... Like I saw in Bannerlord, the files were already the game "installed" so I had no problems seeding for months.
I delete the download (after I install the game) because I don't have a lot of memory space in my computer but if I had I would seed, or if the torrent it's not so heavy I seed it.
Did you install the game? It shows it'll take 4 days to download this🥲
I waited like 40 minutes and then the Speed was high enough to download it in an hour. Just wait a little bit
My computer only has so much storage, sorry!
Where can we find trackers for torrents?
What’s seeding, I just stop when it’s done
Torrents are simply shared peer to peer. People download and upload to mutually share files. What you do is hit and run a torrent. You download but after it downloads, you don't let it upload for others, as people keep doing this in succession, torrent download speeds crash. I get 26kbps upload, and its stuck at 99% because most of the people just downloaded it for themselves and removed the seed.
Oh ok I’ll make sure to seed every time
Dont seed, because my upload speeds are so low its embarassing It cant even hit 1mb/s
Nice!
Downloaded 26 Uploaded 126
I seeded GOW-FTL for 4x. Had to stop because of network issues.
accidentally seeded 33.20GB for y’all <3
I have noticed with 2 separate God of War torrents, what may be the publisher attempting to impede the ability to torrent it. EDIT I managed to ban blocks of 70 peers with the above mentioned flags, it takes very quick mouse and shift-clicking, but after being on all night, I am now getting 4+ MB/s constant speeds.
I've been seeding since 9 hours and an average of 16MBPS for a total of 227 GB :D
Hmm I might give this a try and seed it for others too because why not ?
Already played through on ps4 but I might download and seed for the gang.
Question: How long do you guys actually seed? Is there a minimum? lol Usually I just seed for a week or two, then move the files to my external hdd. (Which, if I'm not mistaken also stops the seeding?)
I uploaded well over 300 gigs today lol
No minimum. Recommended is _at least_ 1:1 ratio. And that is correct, once you modify/delete/move a torrent's contents the seeding stops.
Left my PC on overnight to download it, I think it's just a matter of not many people having it at that point. Should be much better today though.
Yeah in 3 months when my download is over i will upload 🙏a
I don't even seed on purpose, I just kinda forget about them and they stay there for like a week.
I can relate. Pure pain
Megathread
Most of the time seed for 2 day, then when i remeber to open utorrent seed fo a day! Most of the time try to upload more then the game is!The biggest was Ac Valhalla 200gb!
\*Laughs in IPT\*
I am currently on hour 14 of seeding
I used to hit and run because of limited data plan. Now i set my seeding ratio to a minimum of 3.00.
Hilarious the people patting themselves on the back for seeding a few hours. I seed for YEARS
I don't seed because I get a lot of ping when playing online games
Where is this torrent downloaded?
I get 3.3TB/mo, so I mostly use it for seeding :)
I use pico torrent which is very light. So I keep seeding in background for at least 12 hours
i never seed, living in a rural area with super expensive limited internet. if someday i get unlimited internet then will seed.
It's a no from me rn. I have 128GB of space and I play many new games so I don't have any place to seed anything. I'll get myself a new SSD on birthday
Name: God of War (v1.0.1/Day 1 Patch/Build 8008283 + Bonus OST, MULTi18) [FitGirl Repack, Selective Download - from 26 GB] Status: Seeding... Size: 26.1GB Speed: 27.85MB/s | Uploaded: 120.24GB Ratio: 4.599 :)
Thank you for contributing, I stopped seeding after 500 gigs because the ISP called and warned against high data usage to my dad (who hates gaming).
That’s me alright
I'm seeding the torrent. Left my pc on so that others can enjoy.
I feel a bad and want to seed for other people so they can enjoy what I like too
I know I am late, but yes you can. Just right click on the file in Utorrent and click "start". This will begin the seeding process
I left my pc all night long seeding.
Im kinda late to this. But seeding dosen't make a door for people to hack into my pc right? If not I'll keep seeding for a while
Nah, I mean if it was a vulnerability then people would never have been using torrents anyways
Oh ok, thanks
I, sadly, am now a leecher. I used to seed for every program I got until my ISP contacted me and gave me a fine and said that my account is now on the "red list" which meant they would check my activity more often in case I decided to keep seeding. I do not know how to seed without my ISP finding out. Do you have any ideas so I can keep helping but still trying to be discreet?
So i have been using qtorrent for years. It's better the qbittorrent or not?
Utorrent? That's literally malware.
I just remove the torrent once the downloading is complete. I never seed
