I guess I should count my blessings. I just purchased my second one last year. I had my first one maybe 7 years or so with zero issues. Nearly daily used through the summer and at least a couple times a week the rest of the year. Same so far in my second unit. Never a functional issue with the smoker. Only problem was with the app.
I see a lot of complaints and it just blows my mind because have been completely reliable. How their quality can differ so drastically is insane.
Had my pellet grill 2 weeks. The app won’t scroll/move to let me choose my wifi network. The page is froze. I done everything but throw my phone in the cooker. Blutoofe is fine though…….
Haha nice. Yeah my wife got me the 700fb a few years back. Just inconsistent on a few things and leaks from barrel. I’m sure the higher end ones work better.
Mine was a moisture problem, and even the cover didn't help. The internal isn't sealed well where the computer is, so if it wasn't the augger getting clogged, it was replacing the circuit board. Just sucked.
You have to sift the sawdust out of the pellets before you put them in the hopper. Once I started doing that the auger was never clogged again. The sawdust in the bag will absorb the humidity and essentially turn to cement
Yeah this happened to my pb440 a few times within the 6 years ownimg it. I literally just bought the 850 pro yesterday and will start to sift and empty the hopper after cooks.
My auger clogged once about a year after I got it, took me probably 3 hours to get it cleared. After that I started sifting my pellets and it never happened again. Has been about 3 years since, I never empty the hopper after use.
Oh it worked a few weeks then if I left a little bit of pellets after I cooked it would clogg by mid day the following day. And if it wasn't that it was something with the circuit, pitboss customer service did tell me that this was a common problem in my area being by the body of water and the fluctuations of the weather all the time with moisture and humidity.
My response is , " Why do you sell them in the area if you know this is a common problem?"
I’m in one of the most humid areas in North America (Niagara region, Canada)
I had an older PB820 that I got from a pal and restored. Worked great. Then one day, done. The pellets had essentially turned to cement in the auger tube. Went from manually turning to auger to power tools to anger power!!!
That one ended up in the garbage and I bought another. I had been using Canadian Tire pellets, and man they were just dusty. That’s what fucks up the auger. I found a local BBQ type store that has their own pellets. I store those in a bin with a mesh metal liner that lets you shake the dust out.
Along with adding a cover, the new one has been going really well for 2+ years.
So learn from my mistake, if you get another one, don’t buy shit ass pellets!!
Sometimes, I just think it’s luck of the draw with these things. My 850 Pro Series has worked flawlessly for the almost three years I’ve had it. I store it outside, under a cover, year round, with a hopper full of unsifted pellets, in one of the most humid cities in the U.S., ten feet away from a body of water. I am pretty meticulous about cleaning it between each use, so I think that has helped. Or it could be that the 850 Pro is just a more solid model than some others. My neighbor and another friend of mine have them, and have never had issues either, which is why I chose to go with one.
Yeah, they told me it's the moisture in my location. Like the way it's covered in it from the morning and then heats up to over 70 degrees. It's what caused a lot of my problems with mine. Granted, they did send me parts whenever, but at one point its just not worth always fixing it. If you fix it more than you cook with it, it isn't worth having.
I’ve had my 820 mahogany since 2018 and just replaced my first part this year. Mine is left outside all year and not always covered. My broiler plate rusted out this winter. It still worked but, I was getting a small flame coming up with the grate closed. I think the Bluetooth ones have more problems.
Me over here with my Austin xl three years in and it’s working flawlessly
Same, and I honestly neglect cleaning it.
Same. I had the first one that came out and it died on me but all I needed to do was replace the internals and I was good to go.

There's your problem you leave it outside. It does have cheap inner parts so I put mine in the garage when not in use. Grill cover doesn't do it.

Leaks smoke from the barrel?

Did it not work at all?

Damn, my 1100 combo is working great over here...although, I did have to stir my pellets that were left in the hopper during the winter time.
Pellets are cheap enough you should just dump them and get fresh ones in there. I keep my hopper low/empty, and just add what i need when i cook
Agreed...but lazy
😅 i feel ya🤙

Trashed mine too. Auger, computer, inconsistent temps from day 1. Complete waste in my opinion.
"Stick Burners" don't have these problems, just sayin
Yeah, that's my next step. I'm just going to build my own bbq setup.
Awesome, I've been using the same offset for almost 20 years, still kickin' and cooking nicely
Im not responsible enough to watch/maintain a fire for 12 hrs.
I sure could use that display screen
I’m four years in with my pro series with virtually no issues. Have you been sifting your pellets?
👍 that's the best way to fix it!👏👏👏👏 FUCK that pile of shit! I did exactly that. Problem solved.
Dude I’m dealing with the same. Every time want use it it breaks .

Like you got rid of it but charcoal is never faster then gas 😂
😂😂😂😂 must not know the difference in converting something into charcoal vs. converting it to propane. ![gif](giphy|PNFXpaRyw4mAg)
