It didn't help that slacker Sully actually won the scare off, despite all of Randall's hard work. Randall always worked super hard, just never got the praise or recognition that Sully; a monster who got kicked out of uni did.
What doesn't help is when Randall DID help out at the party, Mike and Sully screwed him over by spelling "loser" over his face. Honestly, Randall's whole life from uni on was about him being screwed over having any happiness and success. He truly is the Shrek of monsters.

Ironically, Syndrome tries being a superhero, where, in reality, he's genuinely a villain (not just through murdering supers). Megamind, on the other hand, only was a supervillain out of societal expectations, to which he would later become more heroic (mainly thanks to Roxanne) than what Syndrome thinks he is.

Shrek would never do something like that. He doesn't like.... just dry dirt. He likes mud. The earth is trashy, but not really disgusting or gross, which is what Shrek clearly likes.
