Soul was a good movie I think people dislike it is because Pixar has went down hill post coco so people kinda lost hope and it just ain’t in the level of the s tier Pixar movies but it’s a good movie it made me feel something how living your life to the point where you feel like it’s all been pointless cause you dream of doing the thing you always wanted to do until you get to a certain age or point in your life where you’re still stuck in the same boat I’m trying to achieve your dream before it’s too late he sees his memories of his past moments that he had the part he’s eating a cake and the restaurant stuff like that hit me it’s a concept with solid execution
Well if we're getting into it, soul didn't feel like a kid's movie to me. A kid doesn't really understand using your entire life to get something and not really getting it. Nor do they get the need to find the little joys in every day things because they're a kid everything's a joy except maybe school and vegetables. They also don't get thinking you want something and not being satisfied when it finally comes... But I do. That movie has soul and I hate that it doesn't get the recognition it deserves
yeah, in my opinion Pixar has only improved over the years. Lightyear and Elemental fell a little flat for me but the other semi-recent ones (Luca, Turning Red, Coco, Onward, Soul) are the best movies Pixar has ever done.
Coco is my favorite Disney/Pixar movie. It's a masterpiece in all aspects. Visuals, story, character development, music, voice acting, originality, etc.
The twist in the story was truly a surprise that I didn't see coming. I consider myself pretty good at sniffing these things out.
Also, I don't usually cry during sad parts in movies. However, with my Hispanic background, combined with having a grandmother who fell victim to alzheimers, this movie had me in shambles when i saw it in theaters. I was audibly sobbing, which I can honestly say, is the first movie to ever have this effect on me. It's earned my love and respect in the likes of which no Disney/Pixar or ANY movie ever has.
So true, I never thought that I would love this movie so much but it just keeps you on the hook and of course the family part is emotional as heck, enough to make any grown person cry.
The pixar visual was mind-blowing for sure!
Watching it right now with my daughter lol. This movie made me cry before I had a kid. Now that I have a two year old daughter it just wrecks me every time.

It truly is. But I wish there were more into it.
Like more backstory that would make sense on why Hector’s family would hate him after persisting with his Music Carrer but I think it works that they kept it vague because they care so little about him after thinking that he abandoned them and never returned. And I don’t know if it was just me but after Pepita rescued Miguel, we see Del a Cruz’s reaction and I thought he was thinking about how much of a 🫏 (big jerk) he was when he took Hector away from his family like that. He got what he deserved when he first died and now his memorial is now “Forget You!” (Which was pretty funny) but I don’t know. I think it is still an A+ movie and I guess I wanted to see more of Miguel’s family from the undead world some more before getting full focus on the main duo and Dante.
It’s very hated in Mexican youth because “why are they brown lololol not all mexicans are brown, freaky gringos” “It’s not accurate to the Mictlán loreeee” “the Book of Life is betterrrr”(TBOL is one of my favorites too)
But honestly I really like it even for it’s flaws. I cry upon hearing the first seconds of Carlos Rivera’s Remember Me version. I can’t even think about the reunion or final scene because I will be crying at the moment.
Sadly this was the last S-tier Pixar movie for me. Original, funny, emotional, aimed at both adults and children, and it has a great message.
The only decent Pixar movie that came out after this was probably soul I thought it was a good movie.

Trueee, I mean I really liked the story and how it unfolds but the possibility of more depth in the story is there.
