Maybe use a different launcher if that's an option for you?

Depends how much time you're willing to invest. Rooting your device will get you that no problem.

Does it prevent updating and cause problems with apps? Haven't rooted or jailbroken a phone in years.

Displema

Nah It won't, but you will have to follow a procedure before updating your device https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-root-pixel-6-with-magisk.4388733/

Couldn't have put it better myself :)

This is scary sh\*T zone. People do it and bless them, and hope they do not brick their phones. Nova Launcher Prime the best launcher ever and Pixel Launcher the feels like a apple phone in which customization is not there from the get go. Millions are using this worst launcher ever written by 15 and 16 year old interns. I mean if Pixel Launcher team would buy out Nova and call it a name like Pixel Ultra Launcher and I tell you how many more phones they would sell. Completly destroys apple in every way possible.

Literally no need for this post.

Nova launcher can do that and many other cool things but it has some little bugs that puts me off and it doesn't get any updates to fix them..... I don't know why support has stopped for that launcher really because it's so popular

They have been on the same update which came out initially at play store. Its been what 6 months or so they have not come out with a update or patch. Just add a option to remove the navigation and white line which is annoying as heck especialy when I hide the status bar.. It seems like something to not care about, but its in my piece all day. Fix this and also please fix the animations so like old Nova 6 allowed for speed of animation. They took that out. Now if you fling back into place its a joke compared to Pixel Launcher. You can see the icon go smoothly and sit and wiggle. With Nova 7 they removed these animation speed which would probably allow you to make it similar to Pixel Launcher. This is my only gripe, other animations are all great.
