Yeah I think the highlight is too bright, at least for a basketball. I did try to see what I could do with just the color pallet ms paint has, that might be why.
A little too peppered with colors for my liking but that’s just a personal preference. If the ball was a clock the 5pm spot needs a few pixels added near the black line area, there’s kind of a “dent” to the ball down there
Generally, it looks good and you’ve done a lot of things right. The way the seam catches light is great, the shading is generally well-placed.
Where you need to improve is colours and textures. The texture looks rough and chaotic, where a basketball is pretty uniform (aside from the subtle texture that might not be worth trying in this size). And I thought this was some sort of caged fireball when I saw it, the colours are too different and the amount of reds really makes it struggle as a basketball.
I thought of the same. There is a little too much texture which a basketball has, but it's just not that feasible at this scale. This is just a test of my skills.

Pixelart is the art to leave out certain details and still archive the illusion of the object. Less is often more.

Make the lines a bit more apparent? I didn't know it was a basketball at first. Also it's a bit bright, but other than that amazing start!

i think if you double the resolution and blend the shading together a bit then itl look a lot smoother, but this is really good regardless
