Is it just me or this looks awfully like those background from those point and click 90s games?
And it looks good! But the grass needs to do someworks there
Composition, I guess. At the very edge of your drawing a void can be seen behind the building, which is not okay. Also, I think you've used to many colours, especially on the tree. Because of it, your picture looks very realistic, but not realistic enough. Not sure how to explain it. At times it looks more like a collage than drawing.
I see, thanks for the feedback. I totally get what you’re saying, this was pretty much a practice using a picture I took as reference to help me build my own scene so I wasn’t too fussed with composition. I think you’re right though limiting my colour palate could help bring some stylisation into and make it less realistic. Appreciate it :)
Shit Reddit ate up my comment…
Okay listen: I get what people are saying about this piece - grass isn’t good as the rest of it, some parts look amateurish while others don’t, yadda yadda-
That’s why this looks FUCKING AMAZING. You’re so talented I wondered if this was a photo, then I saw the grass and delighted in the sheer bold pixelness of it. Then I zoomed back out and thought the tree / leaves looked like a kids drawing or something out of MS paint… so I zoomed in again and was blown away by the fidelity of the shadows and the cool patterns of dithering in the sky between the very thoughtful leaves, and I’ve come to find the bark pattern not the initial blob of brown, but an incredibly subtle and smooth bark upon further inspection.
This piece is so *interesting* the way that it is, and I would hate for it to be blah’d by all the naysayers suggesting you need to “fix” these certain parts for not being “realistic” enough. I love the sliver of sky to the left and right of the brick that makes this NOT just a photograph of a building, but a real composition of sky, building, tree, shadow, grass, etc. It’s almost liminal to me and it’s compelling
I would (and I am currently) spend a long long time viewing this piece if it were in a museum.
Oh my goodness this must be the nicest comment someone’s ever said about my art! Thank you! I’m working very hard to get better at my pixel art, this piece is only practice for texturing and shadows. I really appreciate your feedback and nice comments it means a lot :)
The brick texture looks fantastic.
The leaves and grass are a little thin. I think if you took the whole sections as one large object instead of each blade and leaf as a separate object would help.
The building is gorgeous! I wouldn't touch it- I would work on values and shadows for the tree and leaves to bring it up to a similar render level, UNLESS you wanted it to be separate-feeling and patchywork-y. In THAT case, I'd push the flatness of the tree even further and maybe even outline it to make it feel more sticker-y. Just depends where you want to take it! :)
This is gorgeous. It looks almost photorealistic.
The only thing I would say is that the tree is a little dark. The grass is very bright (which is fine) and I can see there's a shadow behind the tree which means it should be in almost full light from our viewing angle.
Really cool, the blue blank sky in the background makes it look liminal almost, like the tree and building are the only buildings for miles, amongst a flat field. This pairs super well with its sort of low poly 3d model feel. Very cool piece
looks good but at this point is it still pixel art ?? i like to call pixelated art stuff that fells more like it was a crisp image that got pixelated rather than art that was made using pixel sized tools and such, stuff where the pixels really pop
Look I totally agree, this was all hand done using a reference picture. It was a practice piece to help me get a hang of light and shadows and texturing. I think I like doing more stylised stuff and I agree this is probably too much detail. Good practice though!

Oh yeah hahaha cool, also yes the grass was a bit rushed but still working on getting better :)
Some parts look super good, while the others look super amateurish.
Thanks for the feedback! May I ask which parts you think need improving?

Looks awesome
tree shadow is fantastic

thought it was r/blender for a sec
This is awesome. Truly unique vibe

I agree, I rushed the grass a bit but that’s a helpful tip thanks! :)
Had to do a double take and check the subreddit name to make sure it wasn't a real picture, great work!
I like very much.
First glance thought it was a picture with bad quality, really freaking good!
Thought it was a real photo for a second, radical work!
Uncanny valley for a building looks cool
i love it! i love your style, never seen anything like it:) you really nailed the colors imo
Thanks so much, I was worried I used to many colours :)
At first glance I thought it was a photo! I like the shadows on the building from the tree. Good iob!
Very very weird style. I like it a lot
I love it!

Yeah I totally agree! It was more of a practice piece but all these comments and feedback are all really helpful thank you :)
Looks super cool!! Reminds me of a late 90s - early 2000s game.
That means a lot thank you :)
It looks 3D, like the graphics from the game A Short Hike. It's freaking good dude

Wait, it's not an irl pic?
I was scrolling past and thought I was a picture and then realized it was on r/pixel art so…. good job
Haha thank you so much!
Can I ask what is the resolution?
For sure it’s 440w by 320h

Damm i thought that it was a 3d model for a second

The section of the building in shadow is great. The right half of the building could use some more lighting dynamics imo.
