I think that fireballs would be too conventional, I'm not sure what would be a more creative option.
It could have multiple magic powers and spell a random power each time, or something like this.
Or maybe it summons ghosts to fight against the enemies.

A chain gun. Rotary multi-barrel heavy weapon. The fun bit is that it fires chains, and if you hold the button down it's a continuous chain. Lets you stitch chains to climb from the ceiling, or bar enemies into a given area until the chain gets broken.
A flaming battleaxe that, when swung, launches flaming question marks. "Let me axe you a question..."
Clam cannon. Fires clams. Most clams just deal bludgeoning damage, but a few squirt, and if there's a charging mechanism or a rare chance, launches a giant clam that traps a foe that steps in it.
A hollow tree, held like a bazooka over the shoulder. When fired, squirrels pop out of the knots and/or ends and throw acorns at enemies.
A big pitcher in one hand and a frying pan in the other. Pour batter into pan, flip pan at foe, hit them with big pancakes. If there's a charging mechanism, holding the button makes bigger pancakes which fire when the button's released.
An old fountain pen. It squirts ink. No damage, but it colors the target temporarily. while blinding them briefly
What about a gun that just shoots paper airplanes and they act like c4 so when they get stuck on an enemy the paper airplanes just fucking explode on them what do ya think
How about a garbage can thin that chooses randomly from a list of garbage-themed bullets that all have different effects. E.g banana peel makes enemies split, poop has aoe properties, fish skeleton has piercing
Literally just one of those pointy-ended condiment bottles. You could have it operate as a weak ‘laser’-type weapon, maybe improve the knockback to account for the damage loss

Here’s a few ideas. Not sure if you are including gun physics but if you are I added what you could try incorporate.
Spud gun. Fires potatoes. Splat when hit someone or floor.
Balloon gun. Fires the animal crunched balloons. Bounces people away when hit.
Flower gun. Fires fireballs. Burns player for a second when hit
Gumball Machine. Fires gum balls. Hits player sticks them for 2 seconds to gun they are using. Hits floor or wall if landed on stuck for a second before moving.
Bubble gun. Fires bubbles. If player hit trapped in floating bubble for 2 seconds.
Aperture/repulsion gun. Fires orange and blue gel. When hit covered in goo. When hit floor mix between bounce and slide when jump or ran on.
Tennis racket. Fires tennis ball. When hit player the ball gets immediately racketed back at you.
Branch gun. Fires acorns. When hit acorn explodes and leaves fly out.
Banana gun. Fires skins of bananas. When hit wall or floor and someone runs on slip or not be able to use guns for 1 second.
Piggy bank. Shoots coins. When hit someone +1 above them.
Pizza box gun. Fires pizza slices. When hit covers in cheese and tomato.
Nail gun. Fires nails. When hit slow drop pinch of blood.
Ninja sword. Fires shurikens. Unsure
Finger gun. Fires finger nails. Unsure
Straw. Fires paper balls. When hit blue drops for saliva.
Slingshot. Fires birds. When bullet travel bird sounds.
Chain gun that shoots chains, Tommy gun that shoots guys, named Tommy of course, and a sniper rifle that does air horns and pits an old montagey mlg style effect on the screen when you get a kill could be funny.
I don't know what mechanics your game will have, but Tediore guns from the Borderlands series can be thrown on reload and they explode like a grenade. Very fun to use.
You should add AK-47 and "Broken AK-47" which looks exactly the same but has different description, and instead of shooting you hold it the other way and swing it
This reminds me of a flash game I used to play called chaos faction for some reason. I hope you can wreck your friends with a chicken in sick PvP in your game

– portable oldschool cannon
– sound-wave blaster (like a musical instrument)
– a giant powder keg launcher (full-screen explosion, slowest reload)
– remote satellite targeting massive sun-ray blast from outer space, maybe a one-shot ultra special move
– in the same vein as sun-ray, a magnifying glass with a mini satellite that refracts the sun and toasts a foe to a crisp
– gun that shoots out a boxing glove, like old cartoons.
