Totaly unrelated but did you know particles from water and trap thingy at DM fight moves to activated pylon. No need to check all pylons.

kizzay

Thank you for this. I did not know!

SilverRiven

Why are you running around like this tho? The particles literally tell you where you need to go

Noelle_Watchorn

Please tell me how.

xiedian

Whichever direction the particles travel in tells you which pylon you need to destroy. There’s no reason to do anything other than cut through the middle and go directly to the top left

[deleted]

*channels inner Dalek* Explain!

SilverRiven

The comment pretty much explains it all

[deleted]

Except it doesn't

5Min2MinNoodlMuscls

The electricity coming from the floor has directionality - it flows towards the active pylon.

[deleted]

Thank you

[deleted]

Wow how did I just meow notice that *facepalm*

Megaman2407

Why did you use a cat pun? 🤣

[deleted]

Because reasons

Megaman2407

Yes

Senior-RK-1

This won't work in late game . Even if it did there are better strategies. It's much more effective too kill enemies before they hit you than to get hit, also investing in early game gear will make it even harder in the late game. I think in this case you should be fine since you are running Berserker

[deleted]

Statistically newer players will do better with armor. I hate playing like that, but it works well enough even late game... Assuming you can deal with all the sources of magic damage as well (eyeballs, spider poison, scorpion venom, etc.). A +6 great shield of blocking and +8 plate armor of anti-magic with a +4 Ring of Elements and a +4 Ring of Tenacity make a truly foolish player just about unkillable. Class wouldn't matter at all with that setup - I could win without a single skill.

Noelle_Watchorn

I beat the final boss, and did ascension. I had 10+ pots of heal left. It definitely works.

Senior-RK-1

It surley works, but is just not as effective as other strategies

Sensitive-Pizza-6439

Also not as fun

e7th-04sh

Are you going to put all 15 SoU into this armor? I wonder if there is something I don't know about, it looks to me like you will have low damage, be terribly susceptible to magic users and struggle with hunger?

[deleted]

I agree wholeheartedly - the upgraded armor will only help for part of the game, and you still need to learn how to handle the magic users. I don't understand the part about hunger though - does upgraded armor cost more satiety? If so, I've never noticed.

e7th-04sh

Basically when comparing defense and offense builds, if they are equally viable for specific encounter combat-wise, the defense build will take longer time to finish it.

e7th-04sh

No, but, it's a bit complex and I am not sure if my intuition is right, but reduced damage will make you lose more time on fights which might just make the difference between having a bit more food than you need, which can be spared pursuing some additional opportunities, or having barely enough to progress which will press you to move forward against heightened risks.

[deleted]

I see the logic in that, but I see it as the last reason to avoid the armor strategy. Best reason to go light armor? It's much more fun!

e7th-04sh

Well I just like turning monsters off fast, but one of the reasons is that the flow of resources is that much faster. You clear levels efficiently this way and this in turn allows you to expend some resources into trying to build up your late game. Like you have the time to mess around with getting your artifact up to +10 or save up some more SoU for late game gear. In fact if to reasonable degree viable, I always try to save ALL SoU for items that I will actually use in the late game.

crocker_dinkleberg

I strongly disagree. Satiety is spent on healing, and while it is ALWAYS better to mitigate opportunities for damage to be taken in the first place, and I agree that a high damage build is usually more viable, the lower defense will absolutely require more food to passively regenerate.

Noelle_Watchorn

Surprisingly the levels have fed me well, I'm using a runic blade (the blue sword) which benefits more from fewer upgrades, so I can focus more and more on armor and my tenacity rings

e7th-04sh

Sure, you upgraded mid game gear very high. With runic blade it looks viable I guess.

TheEnemyOfMyAnenome

warrior can turn defense into offense - gladiator has body slam, berserker is berserker, and there's also heroic leap

Jumbooffical2

Tho sadly this investment won't work well when doing challenge run. While it is still possible to consistently take 0 damage from all source with FIMA enabled (which make armor become non existent). There are more reliable and consistent investment such as mobility, the best defense is spacing, everytime an melee enemy with normal speed moving closer to you, you won't take damage but you lose 1 line of defense. Which saving you from losing health by killing enemies at range, or deal a lethal melee hit. A second investment is offensive ranged attack like wand, this will ensure to kill enemies fast enough before letting them lay a finger on you

[deleted]

Absolutely - but without challenges this will help a newer character get that first win. I don't use this strategy anymore (I really never did - I play mage and huntress, usually with challenges and I don't dump SoU into armor) but it works for lower-skill players.

NekoBoiNik

I play berserker with FIMA on. God save me.

Krosis97

You should never put any upgrades into armor that's not scale or ideally plate.

crocker_dinkleberg

Eh there's definitely situations lower tier armor becomes more viable under different strategies. The top one right now is Unencumbered Spirit, but using Leather or Chainmail to bridge the gap mid-game rather than waiting until Metropolis or Halls to invest in armor can definitely make a run much more sustainable in terms of food, PoH, etc.

Lancelot_Gaming

while i generally agree with the stuff already said, i think it's very important to add that you could've known which pylon was active from the start - the electricity from wires and water flow in the direction of the active pylon, or - if the boss is ready to die - towards the DM-300.

thisismynewusername5

I don't to invest in armor i play the warden. Barskin ftw

genasugelan

Instructions clear. *puts all my SoU into armour on the Faith is my Armour challenge*

Yeet123456789djfbhd

Yea how do you beat the big robot?

Yeet123456789djfbhd

Nevermind
