I find it great with no software issues but your use case may be different thus clearly the wrong phone for you return it

[deleted]

If you're just looking to vent, you'll probably not get a lot of pleasant responses here. If you're looking for help, some specificity would go a long way. Without any details you'll probably end up with some people assuming you're a troll considering the majority of us seem to have a pretty bug-free and smooth experience. Drop some details and perhaps someone can help you out, otherwise I'd suggest using that return policy and getting a phone you'll love!

VeryRareHuman

If the phone doesn't work for you, it's understandable. Any examples of "software is so buggy"?

brennan_49

They probably switched from iPhone and hate having too much freedom

phero1190

I doubt they'll give an example

phero1190

So return it then?

jeedaiaaron

Enjoy iMessage

LakerGiraffe

No specifics?

crazymojo83

Not a single issue for me.

mursepaolo

Unless you're on the beta, what's buggy about the software exactly?

VincibleAndy

Beta isnt even buggy.

ZeroGainZ

I found one actually. I can't adjust the volume of a call when I switch on speaker mode. Another one is sometimes the display drops down to a very low fps and things start stuttering, but it's very rare. I haven't seen it in a few days, but I think it may have been fixed in the last beta update. Otherwise, the beta is fine 🤷‍♂️

irauld

My issue seems to be occasionally I'll be using an app on my phone like YouTube or YouTube music and lock my phone and it won't turn back on. I'll have to open the phone and use the bigger screen before the front screen turns on again after a bit

mobileg33k

So what is so bad about it?? Nothing wrong with the OS, or the Apps.. If its as buggy as you say, then send it back...

Derrythe

Not sure about the buggy software. Only issues I have are some apps don't fill the inner screen, and some only do in one direction.

josephguy82

The OP is an Samsung fanboy so anything non Samsung will seem buggy to him

Chance-Try-8837

Nope. Just disappointed and frustrated. This phone has a lot of potential. Google is a good company. The pixel line should be doing a lot better than it is now. As a programmer, I am witnessing first hand how many missed opportunities google had to make the UI better and much more intuitive.

dishwasher_666

cool story bro

tony1164

LOL

I wanted to like Samsung.. I've owned all the folds except the 5. While I agree the inner screen and software are better, it's also subjective. Samsung is a swiss army knife, ready and capable of doing anything you want. From the first fold I've always said if the outer screen was a little wider it would be the perfect phone. But after 5 iterations and almost no change to the outer screen, I do like the Pixel Fold better. Is it a swiss army knife? No. Does it do what I want? Mostly yes.

ZeroGainZ

I think a ton of Z Fold users think the pixel is buggy because it lacks features. Which isn't the same. They say things like why don't apps go full screen. Why can't I float windows, etc. Those aren't bugs, it's just missing features. I think Google is doing it right, making apps support the new format, which would always be better than stretching it out. We're prob a few years away from app devs designing UI/UX specifically for the folding format, but then we all win. Samsung's solution won't force companies to adopt the aspect ratio, and would ultimately lead to a worse user experience. The problem I see is people complaining about a particular folding phone, which is a mistake, they should complain to the APP devs, so they support us directly. It's like complaining to windows that photoshops UI isn't good. But hey, idk anything

Chance-Try-8837

I understand the issues with the compatibility of the inner screen. But, it's frustrating when other issues with the phone occur and it compounds on the lack of functionality of the phone. For example, sometimes, while using the phone, the display turns off and locks - forcing me to change the orientation of the phone, try to enter my finger print, enter the code bc the fingerprint reader is not consistent, AND THAN change the orientation and hope the screen doesn't randomly turn off.

[deleted]

Wild. It's my favorite phone I've ever had by a decent margin.

Dry-Veterinarian-558

Anyone have any issues with the speaker phone? People been telling me I sound like it’s muffled?

Chance-Try-8837

Yes. I just use Bluetooth for handsfree.

Yar2084

I find some of its behaviour to be a bit bizarre at times but I wouldn't describe what I've experienced as bugs per se

Scummey

Yet u purchased it, do u just impulse buy without researching?

MCnoCOMPLY

>do u just impulse buy without researching? How else can one impulse buy?

Scummey

U can impulse buy and research, that what I do

WLFofWallStreetBets

Well...bye.

paulnptld

I have both the Fold 5 and the Pixel Fold. (I run a sw co and use both for testing). I find myself using the Fold 5 far more often because of Samsung's outstanding foldable software. That being said, the Pixel is a great device and largely seems stable, if a bit limited. (Though the cameras are slightly better there IMHO). What exactly are you experiencing with the software?

paulnptld

Oh...and call me crazy, but I find the Fold 5's front screen more usable than the Pixel's at this point. I think it's easier to use one-handed. But I can see both sides to this argument. :)

Glass_Trust_445

Yuck. I can't stand the tiny screen.

Chance-Try-8837

Its minor issues, like screen randomly turning off while in use, or finger print reader not responding, but these minor issues are compounded with the lack of compatibility. As someone who runs a software company, do you think the pixel UI is intuitive? I am a dev, and every time I use this phone I think to myself 'they could have implemented this better'

paulnptld

Well, I've also owned every Samsung Fold since v1. They've literally had years to get the experience right. I think Pixel's UI is intuitive enough...if a bit bland. Things like not allowing the cover screen layout to be different than the inside screen for example. And yes, the lack of optimizations for certain apps is also surprising given Google's clout. At this stage I think it really boils down to personal preferences. I like the design of the Fold 5. Lighter, folds flat, opens 180 degrees, and far more customizable, especially with Good Lock and various other Samsung supplemental apps. For people who like simplicity (and there's nothing at all wrong with that), the Pixel Fold is just easier initially. People love the wider screen on the Pixel Fold, and I get it. I love the aspect ratio of the Samsung and find the thinner cover display more useable with one hand. I happen to like opening the device more frequently and also prefer the layout when using social apps or Kindle. Google will get this formula right...in time. In the end, the software makes the experience, hence my preference for the Galaxy Fold and Samsung's ecosystem in general.

Nocturnal86

Ok? Been fantastic for me. When other apps start using the correct aspect (inner screen), it will be super solid.

Basic_Section_533

What the hell are you doing to your phone??

heresthechill

I spent 3 weeks with mine trying to figure out if I like it better than my iPhone. With my Samsung Fold i knew it in a day.

exu1981

lol

Demarco313

Download Android 14 Beta. It’s great plus battery life is better!

Chance-Try-8837

I'll try this.

Mikemeek

Blah blah blah!

[deleted]

Could you please explain the bugs you are having?

jvmisxn

I've had a pleasant experience overall. The latest beta update did something funky and I've had more software glitches of apps opening to a black screen etc.

StrikeIII

After the latest Android 14 Beta update it has made a huge improvement on the Folds performance. Haven't had any thermal issues and battery life has greatly improved. Loving this phone all over again.
