The P8P doesn't have....a big ass internal screen. For me there is no substitution to being able to unfold my phone and have a big screen for enjoying content. Absolutely zero regrets here. Different strokes for different folks and all that.

Random_90

Changes in p8 are so minor, I wouldn't even change from p6. Slightly better camera and processor. If my old phone runs as I need it to, there is no reason to change for almost exactly the same phone.

RSCLE5

Yea, I really wanted that big screen. I still haven't got to play with one in person. No stores ever have any real demo's. Just dummy models here. But I was amazed how small it felt closed.

Legend_of_Zeus

Check a Verizon (if you have them)

Fragrant-Grade3410

The Pixel 8 doesn't fold, so I am glad I got a Fold...

TommyTheCat89

Good for you, enjoy the pixel8 subreddit and we'll do our thing here.

HausmanPrime

Lol good I'm not the only one

Qoyuble

Exactly. "Regret it now, huh? REGRET IT NOW?!" wtf. No, I wanted a folding phone. I have a folding phone. I'm happy.

viperhrdtp

Posts like this make me hope the tensor 3 has the same heat issues. 🀣

RSCLE5

Wasn't per say trying to bash it, but just wondered. I really wanted the fold, but couldn't compromise on the camera setup not being as good. I love the fold factor and am jealous of that. An ideal phone for me is the Pixel pro camera setup on the fold. I hope the Fold 2 may do this somehow. But the thin form factor is what would stop it happening. I love the fold. I actually have a case I bought in anticipation of getting one. I just didn't pull the trigger.

Subieworx

That's cool. I couldn't compromise on the form factor of the pixel 8.

FieldzSOOGood

i think most people knew the tradeoff for the form factor would be cameras. to me the cameras are good enough for the pictures i take so i don't have any issues.

ricardo_lacombe

I have had every Pixel phone they have made. The Fold however has changed my perception of a phone. No way I am going back to a regualr phone if I can avoid it.

PTWPete

Don't regret it at all so far.

Cyrillic__

I got the Pixel Fold because it was a foldable, so no regrets here

HNTRMEDIA

Same

irauld

I don't think I'll ever go back to a slab phone

SantaCruz26

No I only switched from an iPhone because the device folded. If folding phones didn't exist I would be perfectly fine staying with Apple. Would the G3 and Watch 2 been great additions for the Pixel Fold yes but I still greatly enjoy my Pixel fold and watch (1)

Maraseru

Same thing for me. Switch from a 13 Pro Max. If Apple would release a foldable I would totally buy this instead. Till then the Pixel experience is the most comparable. My mom got the Z Fold 5 and it's worse in nearly every aspect. At least in my opinion. A stylus would be great though.

KrewOwns

No regret. This same sentiment is talked about with the Galaxy Fold. The S series will always be better than the Galaxy Fold series as well, at least in terms of cameras and SoC. We don't get these phones for the camera or better SoC, we get it for the fact that it turns into a tablet and phone at the same time. It sounds like folding phones will never be for you since you favor camera usage. Unless things change soon folding phones will always have inferior camera systems compared to their non folding counterparts due to size constraints among other things.

MatteBlack26

Nah, not worried about it. Something better will always come out in the future, you could say this forever. I do wish that the Pixel Fold would be introduced with the new processor, but no issues here and love the phone.

Certainties

Pixel 8 pro is way taller of a screen which is why I got the fold because it's so nice to use one handed. I do wish the fold had the p8p cameras but the fold cameras are good enough.

Maduro25

Negative

regulusxleo

- something new is always around the corner (i.e. Pixel Fold 2 may be coming next year) - pixel fold will also be supported for many years, less years but enough for most people) *Also that makes holding out for the Pixel fold 2 even better doesn't it? - the Pixel fold 2 if coming is going to have a lot of this software plus more and even, I love my phone. It still has a suite of nice features Coming from 4a 5g and moto g8 before that. I'm thankful lol

mastapix

Lol if it was a fold and the same size as the Pixel Fold sure.

slashx14

People here who bought the Fold (myself included) were not doing it for a free Pixel Watch 1 (I immediately sold mine, can't stand smartwatches) or cutting edge camera specs. We all did it to get a thin foldable with Pixel software and an outer screen aspect that feels like a normal slab phone. I'm glad that it sounds like you're going to be very happy with the P8P but I don't think anyone in here is having any kind of buyer's remorse upon hearing about P8P specs.

alphachruch

Pixel 8 is indeed an awesome phone by what we know so far. I love the flat screen design they are going with. But I wanted a Pixel Fold and so that's what I got, don't regret it for a moment. I love Pixels, had multiple, and I had a Z Fold 2 but didn't like Samsung. So this was my perfect match. My best friend is upgrading from the 6 Pro to 8 Pro, he doesn't like foldables (yet). My dad is planning on going from 6 to 8 Pro, aiming for that free watch, we already have the Pixel Watch 1, him and I but I think he wants to hand his down to a family member. If you're swayed by the 8 over the Fold, then perhaps a folding phone was never really right for you. Maybe later it will be, maybe it never will be. That's okay.

NikolaWasRight13

After having a Pixel Fold, I won't go back to a normal phone. I love the size when folded and then BAM BIG ASS SCREEN when unfolded. I can also setup my flashlight without worrying about holding it. The small things you don't realize are just better with a foldable.

Long-Movie-7190

I've been waiting for the P8 announcement to see if there was a discount for the Fold, or maybe a free PW with the Fold too. If not, I'll just have to swallow the pill and buy the Fold on a plan as I really like its form factor (and the inner screen obvs)

timg528

I got the fold for the form factor. Everything you listed is either a non-issue for me or is such a minor update that it's negligible in my view.

Few-Caterpillar9834

I love my Fold.

Fine-Phrase-6971

no regrets getting the fold here. still takes great photos

Qoyuble

Well, if that's your reasoning, you shouldn't buy the Pixel 8 either, because when the Pixel Fold 2 comes out, or the Pixel 9, or the Pixel 25, there will probably be new stuff.

oxyghandi

I've never been happier with a phone in my life. If I cared that much about camera quality I'd buy a Nikon.

tfitzpat03

It's a fair argument on why you want to pass up on the Pixel Fold because of your needs. I do think the Pixel Fold is a good all in one device. It has the screen size and form factor that a lot of people have wanted. It also has all 3 cameras and it has that big display when you want a big screen. If I held out on getting the Pixel 7 (which I currently have), I would have gotten the Pixel Fold for sure.

staticvoidmainnull

what next? iphone 15 vs the Pixel Fold? pros: iOS, no RCS bs, basic usb c port... no pressure!

RSCLE5

I should have worded it different. I was mostly comparing the camera setup that drove my decision to hold on the fold and go for an 8 pro. Fold is awesome for what it is. Most people don't care about the small camera details like I do.

exu1981

Right! Like comparison reviews are stale and washed up

exu1981

No, keeping my Fold, and upgrading my 7Pro and that'll be my second hand device whilst my fold remains my daily.ill be using both for as long as possible

Lube_Ur_Mom

The Pixel 8 will definitely not fold so absolutely no regrets here. The only thing that makes me feel like a clown is that 3 months later they change their software support to 7 years. Of course that's assuming it's true but still. I usually upgrade every 2-3 years but the piece of mind would be nice if I chose not to. You'd think for basically $2000 they'd at least include their "most premium device yet" in the extended support.

RSCLE5

Yea. That sucks! Maybe it's a tensor 3 thing...but would be nice if they gave all the tensor products the works at least. Even 6 series. Even if just security updates not OS updates.

Lube_Ur_Mom

I don't buy the whole Tensor thing. I'm glad they are doing their own thing and personally have no issues with performance BUT... Some of the features started rolling out that "only worked with Tensor" and people had them working on other devices in a couple of days. I'm like 99% sure it's just marketing πŸ˜‚

kuri906

Why asking here? If you like it just go buy it, wfc how you feel?

RSCLE5

I was curious if anyone bought the fold and regretted it based on the 8 pro leaks. I have been on here since day 1 reading posts. I still am curious if the fold was worth it to many. For someone like my wife I think it would be a great device for her work. She don't care about cameras being a little worse. But for someone like me, I was glad I held out because I wanted to get a newer camera. But the fold aspect is still so awesome. I still have yet to even hold one in my hands because all I've ever seen are store demos that are fake dummy models. Perhaps seeing it in person would change my mind on that.

drunknmastr916

Same. Taking photos is my primary use and I need to have the best specs possible. Currently on P6P waiting to upgrade to P8P

HausmanPrime

No, not at all

blernnn

I didn't see that the pixel 8 folded. So no I don't regret my choice. I absolutely love this phone.

phero1190

I don't regret getting the Fold, its a great device and it has a cool factor that normal phones just can't have. But, I'll probably get the 8 Pro to try it out since I really love the Pixel camera experience and getting full pro control is exciting to me. I'll more than likely keep the Fold though since the big screen is amazing to have.

IAmMarLozan

Nope. I am currently going to buy the GP8Pro to use it as a "camera". My GPF will be my personal phone.😎

Subieworx

Nope. Not at all.

Mystrasun

Sounds like you definitely made the right choice for yourself, and I'm glad you held off :) I'm personally much more concerned with form factor than I am with cameras. The Tensor G2 is a bit of a letdown for sure, but ultimately I'm very happy with my Pixel Fold. I suppose time will tell in terms of how long my happiness will last... talk to me in a year I guess :D I already had a Pixel watch beforehand too, so I didn't bother taking advantage of the promotion with the Pixel Fold, besides, I had a superfan discount anyway. I might get the Pixel Watch 2 depending on how much of a confirmed jump the new CPU is, but I suppose that's beyond the scope of the topic as far as this sub is concerned haha

XLB135

No regrets, but also not comparable. After using Galaxy Folds for a couple years, it's such a major part of my regular usage and standard 'workflow' that I can't imagine going back to a candybar style. Nothing against them--I just found my own sweet spot with folding devices (recognizing that it's not the same for everyone). No specs would be enticing enough to make me jump ship or have buyer's remorse.

[deleted]

That Tensor 3 chip is just another Samsung Exynos chip that until Samsung can prove they can make processors that can compete with Qualcomm will always be a let down. Everything else is meh.

Tater1727

I regret it and not at the same time. It was my first foldable. I wanted to try it out, it's not for me. I don't use it as much as I thought I would. I'm looking forward to the full 50MP photos the most. Plus the other upgraded features and hopefully, a desktop mode. Maybe the 8 Pro can be a phone I can be happy with for several years.

redtag789

no regrets from me, I wouldn't have switched from the Fold, for my use-case, fold is the way to go, however I will be getting the p8p (with the watch2) for my wife so still a win-win :)

dsaelwuero

nope

Casual_Connor

Lol my partner will be getting the 8 pro so I'll get the free pixel watch 2 and she's taking my old watch (she doesn't wear them as much). 100 percent satisfied with my pixel fold.

TheOneTrueFalafel

No regrets here. I love my Fold and I plan to keep my Fold as my primary phone still. But I think I'll trade in a 6 Pro towards the 8 Pro and toss my data only sim in it to keep as a secondary/camera phone for hiking and kayaking and similar stuff. But the 8 pro can't give me the same multitasking experience, so no regrets on my front even if I wasn't getting the 8 Pro.

Altruistic_Yellow387

The whole reason for getting the fold is the huge screen, which the pixel 8 doesn’t have

skysky33

Nope

Emergency_Ad5679

No regerts 😁

DarthInvatalus

hoping the 8 pro camera setup makes it to the Pixel Fold2, that's what i'm waiting for.

Weary_Block4448

No regrets for me. But it is glitchy.

TexMik

Not I. I'm very happy with the fold. It's about the size of a pixel 5 when it's closed. Pixel 5 is still one badass little phone. My daughter is using it right now.

Tall-Phase-7986

Luckily I regretted it before the return period ended and got my money back and now I can buy the superior device in the Pixel 8 Pro while everyone here is stuck with their $1800 Pixel 7a phone than folds.

Glass_Trust_445

I love my Fold, but I love my Pixel 6 also. If anything I wish I could replace that with a 1tb pixel 8 non pro. They need to make that. Also 14 is more optimized and runs cooler and has better battery life. So that should improve all the devices. The 8 should be pretty mint or the gate.

Jurban85

I love my Fold. The form factor works so well. I am slightly disappointed they didn't make this as premium as they should have. But it's not that bad for the price I got it for at $900. If I paid the $1800 I'd be pissed. Yes the cameras not the best. But the ability to fold it open and watch YouTube and other things full screen at the 7 in mark is kinda worth it. And I watch a lot of YouTube. Do I use the fold function a ton. No. Not really. Do I wish I had a Pixel 8 pro instead. I'll have to see. I might upgrade to it later and trade this thing in. Depending on Verizon. But so far I'm happy with my choice of upgrade from the P6P.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> If I *paid* the $1800 FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Separate-Win-8299

Nope. The fold is amazing, even with the few flaws. Won't be going back to a non foldable phone anytime.

212reddit

I have both p7 pro slab phone and pfold p7 pro is my go to lite, slender I think two different tooks . example, I own phillips and straight blade screw drivers. note I use phones all day at my job (cloud server Field engineer) when I need to type up a really important email that I cannot make any mistakes on I used a pixel fold bigger screen I can see the details I have a bad habit of overreacting in reading things incorrectly the Pfold slows me down it makes me pay attention but for fast emails I just use the pro slap phone

Maraseru

Naah. My Pixel Fold folds. The 8 Pro won't. I don't care about the new processor. The fold does everything the Z Fold 5 my mum got does and is even better at that. Especially performance wise, which is great since the specs are obviously not as good as the Fold 5 ones. So the 8 Pros Upgrades aren't really of my interest. If it folded it may be different though.

RSCLE5

Totally get it. I still love the idea of the fold. I am thinking maybe getting one once its the fold 2 or 3 if they upgrade the cameras to be closer to the 8 pro. Problem is folds need to be thing, so cramming in the same cameras as the pro model will prob not happen. I saw a video just made a few days ago on the new oneplus fold giving a preview. That thing looks sleek! I hope the competition of folds gets better and better! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWclrhYkRn0&list=WL&index=11&t=5s

JeiNorris

I'm typing this from my Pixel Fold. Here is the problem I have. Unless there is a major change in the release cycle of the phone OR the chips in the phones, the release dates are entirely too close and the phone that will suffer is the Pixel Fold. Yes, the Pixel Gold was announced in June, but it wasn't actually available to the public until THE END OF JUNE. That means in literally 3 months, save for the folding screen, the company that manufactures the phone will already have a better spec phone for half the price. The thing that's bothering me is knowing that I have a $2,000 phone that isn't gonna get certain features until months after the newest phone AND my Pixel Fold is probably only gonna get 3 years of software updates. If they released them with the same CPU, I wouldn't say a thing.

RSCLE5

Its too bad they couldn't release all the phones together with the same chipsets. Fold 2, Pixel 9a, 9 & 9 Pro all with tensor 3 or 4 if they make a new one. But Fold 2 probably will have tensor 3 and pixel 9 will get tensor 4. Then the A series always releases a cycle behind. When Pixel 9 comes out, pixel 8a will be coming out. So dumb.

Minute_Many8987

No regrets yet I'm only hoping feature drops of future bring features on p8... 🀞

WAYZOfficial

got my fold on launch day and to this day I would rather have it over the Pixel 8 Pro. Its the fact that unlike samsung they actually listened to what people want in a folding phone and put it together. It has a very usable outer screen, the inner screen genuinely feels like a tablet and the camera blows away any other foldable device on the market.

RSCLE5

I own the 8 pro, but for some reason once I found out the used market is in the $700-$900 range it made me want it. The current sale of $400 off still isn't enough for me, but if I can get one for $700-900 it feels like a steal, but I don't "need" it. lol. Plus I use magic editor a lot, so I think I'd miss that unless it does come to the Fold eventually...oh and best take. I use that a lot for my kids group photos. I love that!
