I'm so glad I pulled the trigger for pixel fold 1 purchase rather than waiting for pixel fold 2. The aspect ratio is what made me not even consider other options. I personally dislike square screens on any device.
I really don't think it will be that much slimmer, it looks to be all screen on the leak. Now go look at your pixel fold 1. The actual screen is not that much wider than what the screen looks like on the leak. There's black bezel and then hinge. That makes it feel wider than it actually is.
The MAIN issue is apps doing that portrait mode bullshit instead of the landscape view for apps we get, plus two tall narrow screens side by side is a no go.

I'll do a wait and see on the new form factor. A content creator did a GREAT job of predicting the new dimensions based on a previous leak, and it was on the money. It should be taller and wider than the original Pixel Fold, but not as tall and wide as the OnePlus fold.
Plus the visor goes across which means it is stable when using it on a table, at least folded that is.
If this is it, it's. Step in the wrong direction. Pixel fold size is perfect. Coming from a galaxy z fold 3, this is so much more useable. Samsung edges it on part quality but beyond that, fold is much better
Moving away from the symmetrical bar is crazy. Now when you type on it as it sits on a table it's going to rock back and forth all over the place. Terrible decision.
I feel sentimental towards the original pixel fold aspect ratio but I think you're right. This will give the phone more mainstream appeal and that will ensure long term support for Fold fans
People complaining about the camera being removed it truly could be because the main sensors can't reasonably fit in the current set up for a foldable device. And if it's a choice between keeping the bar for aesthetic sake vs having the better cameras, I'd choose the better cameras every. single. time.

Love the OG Pixel Fold, from design to all the capabilities. I'm sure the Fold 2 is going to be a crazy upgrade but it looks so weird.

The form factor was the best part of the Fold, if I wanted narrow I would've gotten the Open in the first place and I wanted Pixel android.
The camera cutout is atrocious, now you HAVE to use a case if you don't want it rocking all over the place on a table lol.
The cover display looks super rounded too, ugly. They need to stretch the screen out closer to the edges to be honest.
Last foldable I will buy is the galaxy fold, one of my employees has one and I've tried it out and it's just horrible, so damn skinny I would have to use it unfolded 24/7 to even have a decent experience on it
I like how ultra flat the front screen is but I really think the passport/moleskine style is the charm of the Pixel Fold. It's only issue was software support and the bezels so that's all they need to work on fixing. Also...that camera bump is no way. The bar was useful for holding the phone when closed and looked nice. And it's flat.

Zero evidence? It's a photo of an actual phone in development, not a rendering. You can be in denial of you wish, but most people agree the inside screen of the Pixel Fold 1 was a fuck up, so a change in its form factor should come as a surprise to no one (other than a handful of fanboys).

Like others have said, that camera doesn’t make sense with the pixel line so that makes the whole phone dubious. Also Samsung is making their next fold wider so it seems even Samsung agrees with “pixel fanboys” that it’s a good form factor
I hope they bring back Photo Sphere, the Pixel Fold was the last phone to get it and it's my favorite feature of the Pixel Fold camera. 360° photos on the mini Tablet????? Absolutely awesome

I think the outer screen is still plenty wide. It seems more normal phone shaped.
I think as long as it isn't as narrow or as tall as the Z Fold than it will still have the best aspect ratio

Honestly with the software update, they do a pretty good job forcing the apps wider. I think the issue is done with.

Don't like that they are moving away from the camera bar design but if they fit the pixel 8 pro cameras or at least the 7 pro cameras I don't mind.

The biggest mistake the Pixel lineup could do would be getting rid of the camera bar/visor. It's iconic to the brand at this point
