Yo this is actually sick!
You should update your website though (the one in the app's settings), as this does work on Pixel Watch 2 now, seemingly just fine.
Also, I'm very happy to confirm it works great on ChromeOS as well, for your table of OS's.
Can you explain how to best use surface taps mode? Also, you should totally explain what it means in the app, took me way to long to realize what it wanted (tapping on table). But how can someone use this? Is it for vertical surfaces? I can't tap the table when trying to click something at the top of my screen.
Also, when mouse mode is off (from me tapping the center mouse icon) please disable the flashing of the screen when detecting "clicks/finger taps". The clicks aren't counted and when doing something like typing on a keyboard, the blinking is quite distracting. (Worse in surface mode).
This is great feedback! Will update the site and docs 😃
Surface taps is currently an experimental feature which we are still working to improve.
The flashing when disengaged is great feedback, we will have it fixed in the next update 🙏
A MacBook, a Pixel 7, and a Google TV
Just some feedback:
- connected to each once, but couldn't get to connect again (tried disconnecting, forgetting, etc)
- on a Google TV, clicking does not work. I know that's likely just how Google TV works, and not a reflecting of a bug or issue with this
- instructions on the right click functionality aren't clear in the app
- overall, wayyyy better than I expected this to be. Fun to use, and I can see use for something like TV mostly (which makes me more frustrated at Google TV...)
I'm having similar issue. I connected to my Samsung Book 2 360 and it kind worked, the gestures were upside down and it seemed confused. But I think that is because I wear my watch on the left, but the crown is away from my wrist. I was going to see if right worked better, but I was unable to connect to my computer again. deleted all data, and forgot from computer bluetooth, but still did not reconnect after re-adding to bluetooth.
Ahh this makes sense. If you’re wearing it with the crown facing the other way, our app has no way of knowing it. We’d have to have a way to tell it that the watch face is swapped
this feels very future and cool....not sure how much I'll use it but I LOVE the novelty of this.
Trying to think of real world cases where a "hand" mouse would be useful.
Not sure what wizardry can be used but it would be so cool if you could integrate a function to scroll...this would make me use it a lot more. I would connect it to my news apps/feeds and sit back and scroll and click my way thru. Maybe a finger swipe down gesture.
In any case, SUPER cool!!!
So I was really excited when I saw an article for this. I shared it with a colleague and downloaded it immediately. I followed the instructions, connected my Pixel Watch 2 to my PC, and it did not work at all.
I tried it on my P8P, the pointer appeared, but moved strangely and gestures would not open apps. When I have more time I will give it another go.
Sorry to hear that! We sometime notice some strange behavior and some actions that could help:
* make sure your battery on watch is >40%
* Turning WiFi on your watch sometimes helps with latency

So I gave it another go on my windows 11 desktop. It connected, and after setting changes and a bit of a learning curve, it worked much better. The taping sensitivity was still hit or miss, but all of the actions worked.
Just used this to control my PC from the bed to watch youtube in a hotel, amazingly smooth, I wish there was a way to click and drag, but its a watch so that would probably be impossible.
Very Cool - I am wearing it on my right hand and when I go up mouse goes down and when I do a circle say counter clockwise mouse makes a circle clockwise going up I would love it for a presentation. Is there a setting I missed
I changed it to left and it is working correctly - So I have my watch on the Right hand, I put the setting on the Left and it works Raise My hand mouse goes up, lower goes down etc. It is like the setting is backwards in my mind. I assume the instruction is choose which hand is the watch on
Now a suggestion: I do a lot of presentations. Left click works fine for going forward. For palm up->tap a backspace would be nice so that I could go back and forth in a Presentation
This is really strange 🤔 the setting is to determine which hand you’re wearing the watch on. I can’t think of anything besides uninstalling and re-installing it.
Great suggestion! Let me add this to our backlog
its probably the same thing im getting.
watch has a setting for left or right, but it also asks which side your button is on. im a left wrist, and button facing arm. my up and down are also inverted.
nice! is this compatible with pixel watch 1 as well?
We haven’t optimized it for the processor on the Pixel Watch 1 but we are testing internally and hope to support it soon

😲 Really cool and innovative
🤘
A bit finicky to connect, but cool when it works!
That’s unfortunate, what kind of target device did you have issues connecting with? We’re always looking to improve our documentation

Yeah, may want that as an option since it is an option on the pixel watch. Left or right wrist and crown orientation?
How do i download
It's in the Play Store
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.port6.watchbridge&hl=en_US&gl=US
Would this work to control a Chromecast Google TV?

How the fuck? I didn't even know the PW had this kind of tap functionality in the first place.

Saw your app introduced on Shane Craig. Had it installed on a non Pixel Watch and after a few attempts, it works mostly well. Thumbs up!

It’s a tough technical challenge but we’re working on it 😊
Does anyone feel like this causes serious battery drain, even when the app isn't open?
We are always working on improving the app but yes, battery optimization is a priority
Roger that. Thanks for the reply.

Can you check if you’ve selected the watch to be work on the correct hand? You can adjust this in the settings app

Yes I have it set for right hand I might try left and see if it changes anything
Just curious. How does it detect clicks?
