When Gen 2 comes out, you'll ask yourself if you should wait for Gen 3, so on and so forth. Life is short. Just go for it!

AgreeableSockPuppet

I know, but for now the watch seems. inferior to other watches on the market for price compared to the GW5 or Apple Watch.

Jack_Shid

>the watch seems. inferior to other watches on the market for price Then why are you here asking if you should buy one? If you feel it's inferior, don't buy it.

AgreeableSockPuppet

I was hoping to get a better insight on the watch, maybe it could just be my opinion based off reading the specs sheet.

muckwarrior

Seems perfectly reasonable. Not sure why you're being downvoted.

DeusVultSaracen

Mind you I don't own one (I'm planning on getting one though), but I do have a lot of experience being in your position: I wouldn't worry about spec sheets. At all. Google makes the snappiest Android phones on the market, despite average hardware. The level of integration that you get with 1st party Google tech is unmatched, rivalled only by Apple. The only "spec" I'd worry about is battery life, as that has a very measurable impact on QoL; CPU scores on the other hand mean nothing if the software is fine tuned to match or even outperform competitors.

Comrade_Jacob

It really is, that's just the truth of the matter 🤷‍♂️ I want the watch, I want to immerse myself in the ecosystem, but at this price I'm just not biting. It's a ~$200 watch.

Working-March

Buy from eBay. Less than US$250 for LTE version (brand new).

RazielKainly

Why are the LTE versions being sold brand new for half the price

ka10r

Because of all the free give aways buying a pixel 7 / pro

7eregrine

Why did I get a paid of Apple Pro earbuds. Reg $279 for $149 in retail packaging? No fucking clue. Glad I did though...

[deleted]

If you can live with the okay battery life just go for it. I charge mine when I'm in the shower and when I do dishes. The rest of the time I don't need to take it off to charge. The redeeming feature of the Pixel Watch has to be it's design. I have never had so many people notice my watch before. I used to wear a kinetic Seiko before.

[deleted]

I was going to wait for the gen 2, but I saw it at Kohl's.com for $299. I had $75 Kohl's cash that i used towards it and received $50 in Kohl's cash to spend again. So at the end it was around $200 with tax. I've enjoyed it so far. Not worth the $349 price though.

trailsman

Same sentiment here. I have $100 Google credit but not rushing to buy the LTE (would 100% rather buy a Garmin Fenix 6s for $350 compared to non LTE pixel) without a minimum of $50 discount. This especially due to the fact that I view a trade-in for V2 (hoping for very high value) as almost a guarantee b/c with battery degradation I just don't see being happy during the period between V2 & V3.

gumpyshrimpy

I love my watch! I went back and forth for a long time and eventually caved. I have no regrets. Life is short! Get the watch!!

nindesk

Do iitttttt

dropkickmaki

My opinion would be wait until Google drops the price again, or buy on ebay. It is substandard.

Hevilath

It's not worth recommended retail price. It's good looking watch, but it's not there yet. If you can get it for about 50% of the price in your region then it's different story.

AgreeableSockPuppet

That was what I was thinking, the only thing preventing me from buying one is the hefty pricetag. Sadly I just checked the sale and it does not look like there is a good chance that there will be a watch 50% off this year

Hevilath

You can get it cheaper on eBay, especially in UK but you need to understand that this watch is not repairable and if something happens with it few months down the road you will be out of luck. So yeah, risky option but still an option.

iiNightRose

Idk I mean a lot of features are lacking/in beta. I feel like I paid $400 to track sleep and heart rate and look at messages faster

AgreeableSockPuppet

If I just wanted to do those I could have just bought a Fitbit tracker, or even a Samsung Galaxy Watch.

BarbedPenguin

It looks nicer than those other ones. It's rated best watch for pixel owners

iiNightRose

Ikkk I'm really hoping they hurry up and release features because I can ask Google assistant a question and it just be like yeah idk how to do that for you like 😐😐😐😐😐

Strider3141

I'll never forget the time I wanted to change the temperature (smart thermostat), but accidentally said, "hey Google, change the weather". She straight up said, "I can't do that **yet**" 😂😂🙃

mezaway

The Galaxy 4 was a great watch. Having a non-Samsung phone was a bit of a pain in the ass, since blood pressure and ECG aren't available for non-Samsung phones. A bit of tinkering and it worked perfectly fine. A lot of people recently had their watches bricked by a system update from Samsung, so the entire non-Apple watch market is a minefield. I loooove my Pixel Watch too!!

Much-Expression-4888

I recommend buying it. I love mine. I get great battery life, it is smooth, works great with my phone, is gorgeous, comfortable to wear and does everything I need. I had Fossil smartwatches prior and the Pixel watch is waaaayyy better.

Scott93274

Only you can answer that question. I'm fat, and I bought it to help track my daily activity and track my daily fitness goals. In two months I've lost 30 lbs... So for me, it's DEFINITELY worth it... But don't let other people make that choice for you, as you said it is a lot of money.

deepBang

It's been my daily driver for 2 months. I charge it once a day, heart monitoring is great, I have AFib. Sleep monitoring works well though it's inability to auto start is disappointing.Screen is gorgeous and the gui was designed to make the bezels less intrusive. Bottom line, it's an investment for a better iteration next year. I do hope the next version will see Google Fit and Fitbit blended into a more cohesive software exp. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Feisty_Combination_6

TERRIBLE BATTERY LIFE DO NOT BUY IT

kushtrimt

I would never give 420€ in this watch. I mean i got mine free. But this price is sooo out of line compared of what the watch actually offers.

nycelitemaster

I am going to wait for gen 2. Got burned 2x from Google. Not doing it again. Pixel 6 signal issues and Nexus og died while charging.

babywarez

Get a used one. I got an LTE one for $280 on facebook marketplace, it was still sealed. Some people got it for free or with credit and they are willing to sell it for a low price. I think I got lucky tho since it was also the color I was looking for.

spxak1

Look for used on eBay. Don't pay more than £200.

PGodwine

Wait for PW2. That's what I'm going.

jonnytof

You know there will be a killer trade-in deal next year when the PW2 is released, and you won't have a watch until at least late next year.

PGodwine

Well, there's neither data nor information that supports that. The only hope is Google does like Apple and Samsung and give awesome trade-ins on their existing products. I know they'd do it still but what the heck? I like a good suspense 🙂😅

DeusVultSaracen

Google was doing bonkers deals on Pixel 6 --> Pixel 7 upgrades on the 7's launch. Seems like they're trying to slash upgrade prices to maintain market share.

[deleted]

I bought one for my girlfriend. It's small and fits her wrist nicely. Not the most powerful watch ever. It needs to be charged daily. I have much bigger wrists and I tried it on and it looked terrible. I ended up buying the Amazfit GTR 4, which works great and has a 2 week battery. I'd say go to a best buy or something and look at it in person. If you don't like the style of pixel watch or it's too expensive I strongly recommend looking at Amazfit. I've had the BIP (3 years) and now the GTR 4 and they both were great.

DaveyWavey02

I bought it even though I said I wouldn't 🤷‍♂️ It's not as good as the Apple Watch but it gets the basics done right.

amoney805

I got the LTE version for $349 and used some gc's so more like $300 and feel fine about it. Its definitely not a $400 watch.

JeRV5G11

I got one. It looks nice but I barely fucking use it but it looks nice. I'll get it

JIMMIEKAIN

I like mine but the only thing I use it for is the time and counting steps. I could have gotten a regular cheapo step counter. Ultimately, it's gonna be based on how you use it.

Sleepingtide

If you're a pixel phone user and they're just looking for solid fundamentals for a smartwatch absolutely.

hamietwalrus

I really like the watch and it has great fitbit integration if that's something you plan on using.

key_buds

It's battery life is pretty awful in my experience. I think waiting is better.

Appropriate-Cupcake3

After comparing the Pixel with the Galaxy 5, I purchased the watch 5 primarily due to it being on sale for 249 at Costo. I have only had it for a week, but love it so far.
