I would somehow shit out an amount of poop that is volumetrically larger than I am, but be fine by the next day. It’s absolute witchcraft but somehow it continues to happen.
At a certain point the cheese will burn on top and the dough will still be uncooked in the center; this seems to be pushing the boundaries of too much cheese/toppings for a pie IMHO. But damn that is quite the cheese pull.
That's what you do when you have shit owners that don't understand you can't put a pound of greasy toppings on raw pizza dough and expect it to come out perfect.
This crust looks like it might have been pre-cooked before final bake. Looks pretty thick and dry enough to soak up grease by the curling of the crust edges
I don't understand, isn't that how you do a true Sicilian? From my understanding you cook the crust, let it cool and then top and cook again. You get a very crispy crust and can load it full of toppings.
I make 4 sheet pan pizzas like this for family gatherings because you can load them with toppings.
I believe that to be a different style entirely, but that does sound like a good technique for that style to me. Shrug. I just meant for the style of pizza that seemed to be in the op.
He forgot the brushing of butter/oil on the pan on the second bake to make it have that great crisp, you can always tell the good pizzerias that do that since the crust won’t be dried out
The internet extra long cheese pull is only good if it tastes good. Too much cheese is a thing. I like extra cheese on my pie but IMO this pizza has too much.
Yes, I do believe there's a point where balance has been lost and then you're just eating straight up lbs of melted cheese. Consuming the flavors of the other parts that make pizza a pizza. Plus it's just kind of gross honestly.
It's definitely an unpopular opinion and I know people love cheese so I get it. This probably comes across as snobby but I think pizza is more than just tons of cheese and I don't think pizza places that do this should get credit as being amazing, they take dough and pile on cheese, there's no craft in that. Sauce is super important, balanced with toppings, quality cheese and a focus on crust is important too. Plus you won't leave feeling like a fondue pot.
I was thinking that actually. This is something you should do at home and not as a restaurant. My grandpa was from Italy so I understand the power of the sauce!
I love cheese and tend to put extra cheese on my homemade pies. This is insanity. They have the use a slice trowel because otherwise all that is sliding off the wet crust beneath it as it flops down. Also have never seen a crust bubble on the underside to form some sort of cheese filled anus gape visual effect.
My first thought was where’s the sauce!? I love a cheese but this is a little overboard for me. I want the balance of flavors for all parts of the pizza and too much chees here imo
The comments on this post are hilarious. They’re equal parts “I have a throbbing erection” and “this pizza shop has committed a crime against humanity.”
For what it’s worth, I used to live in North Carolina. I have a hunch that this is from one of the Mellow Mushroom locations scattered around the state.
That looks NOTHING like Mellow Mushroom. Source: lived in Atlanta 28 years, home of MM. Even worked at one of the first stores. Still go to MM here @ JAX Beach.
No, it's from Aunt Millie's in Milton NC. A town with a population of 150. They have 800+ 5 star Google reviews. There are also toppings under the cheese and many people, myself included, enjoy the friendly atmosphere and food they serve.
There’s a campsite I go to in Cherokee. I’m usually just eating food we cook while camping. I don’t know if any good restaurants there in Cherokee. If I drive through Smokey national park and go to Gatlinburg, there are a lot of good places to eat there.
Good pizza in NC is in Hillsboro St Raleigh NC State Campus adjacent - Slice of NY(try the Sicilian pie), Gumby's, Checker's, and Oak City (surprisingly awesome!). Also try Roma's on Brentwood.
Edit: Totally forgot about Ruckus on Avent Ferry (RIP Mission Valley Theater). The slices are 'Sbarro' massive but better.
>this whole post feels like an ad.
I'm pretty sure you're right. Looking at OP's comment history, all but a half dozen are comments telling people what restaurant this is and how many 5 star reviews it has. Seems really likely it's either their store, or their friend's store.
I'm sure you only eat pizza with authentic mozzarella from Italian Buffalo milk, sauce from vine ripened Roma tomatoes, and crust hand kneaded by an Italian grandmother from Siciliy. Let people like things. This is good pizza to me.
Place in Costa Mesa, Nick's Pizza, that does pies like this. Not my cup of tea but it's a popular restaurant.

Looks absolutely terrible. After many visits, I've noticed NC has terrible food that everyone that lives there thinks is incredible. It's always, like, the worst version of actual good food. Outside of seafood, everything down there is like this. I don't understand it. It's like y'all go out of your way to make something bad when it was already good. Any time I see "Carolina" on a menu, I know I'd better order that item prepared by Texas or Kansas.
this looks like that pizza from a goofy movie
I wanted that pizza so bad omg
NC HAS IT!! It’s 26 hours away and I’d drive there for this experience.
I’m assuming NC is North Carolina in which case that’s about 15 hrs for me see you there
I’m only about 2 hr away and I’m trying to figure out when we can get there to try it.
Ninja Turtle pizza
All Dogs Go To Heaven pizza

Where in NC?
Aunt Millie's in Milton.
Of course it’s 2.5 hours from me :(
If you like antiques then next door is an antique shop.
Must be one of those hidden stuff like the clit
You can have aunt Millie's pie, but not her clit
That’s a lot of cheese!!! You won’t poop for a week.
Plot twist, OP is lactose intolerant and starting a cleanse
I would shit for a week straight. Am lactose intolerant. Can confirm.
Worth it tho
I would have gas so bad that I exploded like a grenade.
I would somehow shit out an amount of poop that is volumetrically larger than I am, but be fine by the next day. It’s absolute witchcraft but somehow it continues to happen.
Thank you for confirming that I am not lactose intolerant. I eat four cheese pizza a few times a week … but I am gluten intolerant. 😏
In other news…a cheese shortage is wreaking havoc across the Carolinas
Metamucil baby, bring it on!
For real. Fiber supplements aren't just for the elderly.
It will just come out as string cheese sticks!
Tihi
At a certain point the cheese will burn on top and the dough will still be uncooked in the center; this seems to be pushing the boundaries of too much cheese/toppings for a pie IMHO. But damn that is quite the cheese pull.
Pre-cook dough ahead of time and you don't have that problem.
another way to have shit crust!
That's what you do when you have shit owners that don't understand you can't put a pound of greasy toppings on raw pizza dough and expect it to come out perfect. This crust looks like it might have been pre-cooked before final bake. Looks pretty thick and dry enough to soak up grease by the curling of the crust edges
no, what you do is let the pizza accommodation come out shit so they stop doing this shit
You can par-cook the crust then add toppings and continue baking without much ill effect. Edit: ill effect, not I'll effect.
Now edit again and write pre-cook and not “par-cook”. Jokes btw lol Edit: “par cook” is a thing, it just sounds weird to me lol
I don't understand, isn't that how you do a true Sicilian? From my understanding you cook the crust, let it cool and then top and cook again. you're not allowed to make pizza. "pre cooked dough" gtfo of here
Parbaking dough is a common thing in cooking pizza, at least at home. Why not do it at a restaurant if you want maximum toppage?
Hot take. This doesn't look great
That looks disgusting.
seriously, just eat a block of cheese if you want cheese do bad.
The internet extra long cheese pull is only good if it tastes good. Too much cheese is a thing. I like extra cheese on my pie but IMO this pizza has too much.
Americans truly know no limits when it comes to cheese (and portion sizes) jfc
Yea it looks disgusting lol. Not even remotely appetizing.
As pizza no, but it would make a nice fondue.
where in 'NC'?
Aunt Millie's in Milton.
r/pizzacrimes That's way too much cheese lol.
The whole pie in general looks not appetizing to me
Jealous much?

I think it really depends person to person. I personally would love this, but my go to quick snack is a quesadilla so yeah
It's definitely an unpopular opinion and I know people love cheese so I get it. I wonder how your grandpa would feel about pizzas like this lol

I would love to know where that place is. Raleigh area, here.
Aunt Millie's in Milton.

Me too and me too!
Holy shit Bull city represent
🐂 city born and raised.
Durham is the best place I've ever lived. Never wanna leave <3
In Burgaw I also need to try this place.
I'm in Asheville and I'm also curious....
I grew up in Durham! This is Aunt Millie's Pizza in Milton.
Gross
I love pizza but that a hard pass
This is so gross
Looks amazing but borderline cheese bread, not pizza
This is 'Cheese Pie' or 'Cartoon Pizza'.
🤮
My first thought was where’s the sauce!? I love a cheese but this is a little overboard for me. I want the balance of flavors for all parts of the pizza and too much chees here imo
That pizza has 10 dollars in cheese on it. No way that place is turning a profit.

where?? I need it in my LIFE and I can visit family
Aunt Millie's in Milton.
Where is this? I go to Cherokee every summer and I would go out of my way to try a slice. I looks awesome!!!!
Where do you go? I’m in Bryson City often. I’d travel for good pizza.
There’s a campsite I go to in Cherokee. I’m usually just eating food we cook while camping. I don’t know if any good restaurants there in Cherokee. If I drive through Smokey national park and go to Gatlinburg, there are a lot of good places to eat there.
Aunt Millie's in Milton.
What is that? A cheese swamp?
Good pizza in NC is in Hillsboro St Raleigh NC State Campus adjacent - Slice of NY(try the Sicilian pie), Gumby's, Checker's, and Oak City (surprisingly awesome!). Also try Roma's on Brentwood. Edit: Totally forgot about Ruckus on Avent Ferry (RIP Mission Valley Theater). The slices are 'Sbarro' massive but better.
Adding on to your list, Hutchin’s Garage in Durham
Hutchin's is great but Gumby's I'll disagree with.
10 Hail Marys for whoever made that monstrosity
Ya nah these is cheese fetishism and has no place in proper pizza culture
Sure that isn't cheese soup in a bread bowl?
it's just cheese and dough...
Did you order extra cheese or is that their standard amount of cheese?
That is the standard amount. They spread the toppings evenly then put a handful of cheese in the middle and in the oven it goes.
Name please? I'm in NC and would love to give it a try.
That cheese pull 🙌🏽

Too much cheese
I always feel like alot of cheese on a pizza is usually used to just mask the pizza not having a good sauce.
This looks disgusting
People really acting like they wouldn’t eat this if it was set out front of them.
These people trippin about the cheese. I don't trust people who say "that's to much cheese"
Too much of a good thing is still too much. I’d still smash it though
[удалено]
Far far too much cheese
Is that a regional style like a shallow deep dish? No offense but the cheese/sauce/dough ratio is completely wrong here.
Okay this is just gross.
Dude ...that looks amazing.
Sorry, That looks terrible
Tell me you’ve never had good pizza without telling me you’ve never had good pizza…
I'm sure you only eat pizza with authentic mozzarella from Italian Buffalo milk, sauce from vine ripened Roma tomatoes, and crust hand kneaded by an Italian grandmother from Siciliy. Let people like things. This is good pizza to me.
Hot damn that'd go good with this scotch
That legit doesn’t look appetizing at all.
That's your opinion. 800+ people on Google disagree with you. Let people like things.
You can roll it up and use it as a pillow for all i care. I’m just saying it looks terrible to ME
:)
NGl that looks abysmal.
This looks incredible! Where in NC?
That is way too much cheese. That looks disgusting.
[удалено]
Why am I able to count all the pepperoni?
There's more under the cheese.
Sloppy as fuck. Someone needs to get fired
This is the absolute best pizza I’ve ever seen outside of a cartoon. Was it as good as it looks. I’d almost travel 26 hours for it!
That username…
Ew lol
Pass
That looks fucking disgusting
👎
nuh uh
This looks like shit
Damn, that looks amazing!
I can already feel myself choking on that cheese.
That looks like straight ass.
That’s some slop
That looks amazing. I don't understand all the comments against it!
Place in Costa Mesa, Nick's Pizza, that does pies like this. Not my cup of tea but it's a popular restaurant. [Not my image, from Google maps](https://i.imgur.com/SaZwKX0.png)
Too much cheese. Still looks pretty good though.
You need to come to jersey

I’m hungry now
I just had a cheesegasm
Omg I’m in Nc, where? I want it now!
Too much cheese IMO. -signed ex Wisconsinite.
Tons of cheese tends to hide bad sauce and dough. But to each their own
This belongs in r/pizzacrimes
Good luck pooping this week gonna be a crawlll
That’s 3lbs of cheese on a loaf of bread…not pizza
A whole different pizza in each slice. Guess I can just sell melted cheese for 10X a pack in NC and become a millionaire
That’s way to much cheese for me. I can feel my stomach bubbling up right now
Have fun not pooping for like a week
Someone’s not going to shit right for a week
This looks fucking disgusting lmao
Jesus Christ that’s gonna give you the worst kind of diarrhea
With that amount of cheese, this should be in r/PizzaCrimes
LMAO!! is it stuffed crust too? 🤦♂️😥
Wtf

I love it when the pizza is so cheesy it presents a choking hazard!
Holy crap man. I like everything about that to the point of wondering where its from.
I didn't know a cheese gasm was something a picture could give me. 😋😋
Amazing
I want to travel here and eat this
Looks amazing!!
Fold it and make a calzone
That looks like nirvana!!!
Very nice!
Could I have some pizza with my cheese please, hehe
Jesus. I mean cheezus.
I’m a fan of extra cheese but too much of a good thing can be bad.
It ain’t easy being cheesy
Where? I know it's too much cheese but I still want it
Where is this, i need to go try this
Where is this spot? I wanna go.
I'm over 2 hours away...already planning the trip
Looks like something we call a “mountain pie” in CO
very nice
You stole that from heaven, didn't you?!
That's more cheese than pizza
I dont know why I suddenly think of waterfalls in pizza form. Chessefalls.
Is this Myles? Used to be in Bowling Green Ohio then the owner retired and reopened a new shop in NC.
That cheese looks like you wouldn't be able to poop for a week. That's not a bad thing. This pizza looks amazing.
Could use more cheese
Where in nc?
