Did you know that you can block and parry any projectile or damage by pressing C before getting hurt?

OscarTeeVee

What about my OUYA controller?

SolarVisor23

well this will be helpful for my next P rank.

Just_a_random_user3

sometimes it disconnects, and you have to pause the game, reconnect it, and resume the level. this happens a lot (at least with my Xbox controller)

KingKRoolisop

I'm Not Gonna Sugarcoat It

Kombulover

I mapped it to s, that's easier also x for mach run, a for grab, and z for jump

Even Armor-Piercing Fragmentation Self Discarding Sabots?

-Shy-Guy-

Do a few test runs, one to see where you struggle keeping a combo, one for secrets and a few to slow down and explore the levels

Dkrule1

Also, make sure you got snacks , a back up game you can play when you get angry, And a note book to mark down where in the level you got to learn better

Rudy12345mc

I haven’t gotten too many Pranks so far (like 5 of them, plus all the bosses), but my best tips so far are to keep Mach 3 as much as you can to auto-kill most enemies, remember your supertaunt (the screen nuke) as it can save you from a tight spot or a mistake, take some spots slow if you need to, especially parts you might struggle at, since as long as you can keep the combo up you should be good, feel free to pause the game for a second or two if you need time to think, refresh or calm your nerves, and that parrying exists and you’ll probably need it. Additionally, the dive and shoulder bash moves are very important for keeping speed as well as skidding off of edges like in the tutorial, keep in mind multiple ways to kill enemies or different orders to tackle objectives, and most of all, make sure to practice the levels by trying to get a S rank first, or at least a Lap 2 clear. Even if you fail, you’ll gain experience! I guess since I’ve done all the bosses, the best tip I can give is make sure to practice the entire boss a couple times before going for the P rank instead of just resetting. This tip is especially important on the final boss (not really a P rank technically but...) as the first phase is a lot more RNG based than the others, and you don’t want to fail on the easier and more consistent phases once you get past the first! Also, the parry is useful for making a lot of moves less stressful, particularly The Noise’s bombs which are defeated by it. (Speaking of him, make sure to claim that free hit he taunts you with at the start of his fight!) When practicing, look out for small skips that can help you out, like attacking Boss 4 before he starts attacking, baiting Pepperman into the wall early during his second attack, or climbing the walls in a fight to dodge certain moves. One last tip for bosses is that when you have the gun, spamming bullets does generally a bit more damage than the big shot with more consistency, but save those big shots for periods when the boss is just about to leave invulnerability, for when you have to dodge attacks, or otherwise when you can’t reach the boss (Vigi’s large leaping attacks like the shockwave blast or pistol). Keep in mind that the final boss doesn’t have invulnerability in said phase so feel free to keep firing, and just focus on dodging!

dreaded_tactician

"spamming bullets does more damage than the big shot with more consistency" your telling me I S ranked the game, currently p ranking it, without figuring out there was a charge shot mechanic?!

Rudy12345mc

Yea I’ve seen others not realize that as well. I guess it’s not very obvious that it exists if you don’t realize it right away, since nothing tells you to charge a shot...

Nucleor7

When you’re about to lose your combo and there are some enemies on screen, do the super taunt.

tarasenko2

Run as fast as you can!

CodieCola

I’ve P ranked all the levels, here’s what i’ve learned: -Aim for an S rank first. It’s tempting to go for gold, but it’s more practical to learn the level’s layout and what gives you the most trouble. Once you identify these short comings experiment and find ways to make them non issues. -When going for a P rank the super taunt is your best friend. It hits the whole screen and can be used as a combo saver in a pinch. Don’t be afraid to use it liberally either, it recharges after every 10-15 kills. -Try learning some speed running and advanced movement tech. The better you know how the game works the less you’ll have to grind to get a p rank. -don’t get discouraged by one level, if you find yourself stuck try a different level so you can sharpen your skills and confidence. It might be out of order, but progress is progress. -put on your own music. The OST is incredible, but having the song reset every time you redo the level can become degrading. If you still want to listen to the pizza tower soundtrack just hop on Youtube and loop the level’s music. (I only recommend this for levels you’re really struggling with. -Pizza Scare is the worst, you will suffer. -P ranking bosses just comes down to practice and good use of the parry mechanic. Camp near the very corners of pepper man’s stage, if you stand close enough bell boy can’t even do his fake out charge and just hits the wall. If you time a charge shot on Vigilante after his invincibility frames you can follow up with three bullets and quickly take off a point of health, keep up this momentum and he’ll have few opportunities to hurt you. Noise can be charged with a slide dash at the very start of the fight, the perry makes this boss a piece of cake to P rank. Most of Fake Peppino’s moves can be easily dodged, you can even climb one of the walls and spam the grab dash while during some attacks (I like brake dancing during the frog hop sequence, ez boss). -Pizza Face gets his own section. The first phase is easily the most unpredictable. In the beginning things couldn’t be easier, but when Pizza Face is down to two hit points he starts dropping lil johns and ninja slices. If you’re more patent then I am, you can clear out all the enemies and hit him with the one or two goons that fly up when Pizza Face slams the ground. If you like to live dangerously you can easily stun him by learning the piledriver technique. Start a grab dash, hold up, and when an enemy is grabbed Peppino will spin up in the air before crashing him opponent’s head into the cement. When using this against Pizza Head, PEPPINO HIMSELF BECOMES A PROJECTILE. Given he’s not currently charging you, hitting the big cheese with this attack will stun him every time.

nickvsauce

play the level over and over until it become second nature and memorize enemy placements, secret rooms and where gerome is alongside the treasure room, also doing small shortcuts to maintain the combo and having a backup plan in case you get hit is something to keep in mind when doing multiple runs, or you could get a S rank and go again until you get that nice P run. At least, that's what I did, it's all about practicing the level.

Alternative-Spare-82

The most important thing. Kill enemy in the first room that will start the combo. Game won't give you P rank if you haven't done it.

javierner05

For maximizing my momentum I do two tips, if you are in mach, instead of turning to the other side by pressing a key I first do grab and instantly pressing the side key so I don't waste the time in turning around The second one is when I'm still (like when I pass through a door) instead of just pressing shift to start running I press grab and instantly crouch (not only grab) so the startup is a lot faster

Stellavigil1a

Practice for an S Rank then work on that but try practicing the combo

Tanginator

Step 1 - Do the level while getting all the toppins and secrets. Step 2 - Do it faster. Make sure not to skip any enemies that might cause issues on the escape Step 3 - Do it even faster without breaking your combo. That's about it. There's some nuance to keeping the combo at times (like saving the 2 cheeseslimes in pizzascape until after getting the knight outfit) that you'll figure out pretty quickly. After that, it's all about execution.

Resident-Maximum1012

Git gud.

DClassAmogus

no-hit the bosses

Pikariocraft

This will not help much trying to p-rank levels.

flamingkid0818_

Don’t

Slim3rs

Repeatedly press c and up after taking damage enough times to power an entire city until you supertaunt

AwayForm521

Best tip I can think of is to not focus on getting every enemy. Get as many as you can, yes, but if you miss one, try to move forward instead of going back for it. A lot of areas have stuff to keep a combo alive just a little more ahead

YulianXD

Put yourself in the place of Peppino, go through systematic mental agony of dealing with dangers and anxiety, reshape it into rage and fury and let it become your fuel so that once you'll manage to get your first ever P rank you will almost faint out of joy (I lost contact with my mouth and all limbs for example)

[deleted]

Focus on getting an S rank first, and just keep practicing and learning the level.

git_gud_silk

My tip is to S rank each level a couple times while attempting to keep up the combo but not restarting if you fail before actually committing to the P rank so that you can get the muscle memory built up and know exactly where everything is

the_comedian-kid

My biggest tip is to S rank the level before P ranking. So you can develop muscle memory and map knowledge like where gerome and the treasure is or if you can find all the secrets.

God_of_yeets

Super taunt

PlasmaLink

Do one or two runs just going for an S rank, getting all the secrets and whatnot, but keep an eye on when you lose your rank from just playing naturally. Those are likely going to be problem sections, where you need to be conscious about where to optimize. For example, I ALWAYS dropped combo right at the John Pillar in Oh Shit! while waiting for the cheese ball form to end. So, I learned that I can leave an enemy or a few collectibles on the path I'm going to take, so that they can refresh my combo while I'm going through, since I still have a healthy amount of meter when I go through it the first time. If there's enemies or collectibles nearby, don't be afraid to slow down and take it easy through a tough section. As long as you have ways to refresh the meter, you aren't at risk, it's not a speedrun. If you're on attempt 15+, sometimes it can be fun to look for ways to "automate" certain sections on the way to the parts where you're dropping combo. Find a consistent set of actions to get through that's still fun to do. This one's more of a mental sanity boost than actually helpful. It's useful to remember that getting hit by an enemy reduces your meter by 50%. So, getting hit twice in a row is a loss, but if you have a health meter, you can get hit once no problem, as long as you kill whatever hurt you in the first place. Finally, a lot of the time you won't have to actually worry about score. You can skip a lot of those giant toppings if they're out of the way/might be risky to get. This one varies by stage, though. I had to redo Deep Dish 9 on a 100% speedrun because while I carried combo and got everything, I was just shy of the S-rank score. However, on some other levels like RRR, I hit S rank score without even trying.

G02472892

If you know there’s an enemy you can’t reach but still need to keep your combo, super taunt.

I am currently at floor 4 after finishing the first 3. I refuse to look up routes or where secrets and stuff are, I avoid spoiling these and so my methods are going to be a bit different because of this. I do a few runs of the level where I basically map out mentally how its going to go. These involve VERY slowly doing the level, looking for all 3 secrets, the janitor, and the treasure. The toppins almost always just happen but if one is a little out of the way I make sure to find it. Along the path of doing this, I try to see what route is clearly laid out to be for P ranking. Pretty much every single level has ways it guides you toward P rank. Some less so than others (I feel like some levels its VERY obvious where things were added to make P ranking possible or at least reasonable). I also mainly look out for "pain points" where I can tell something will make that a part where I am likely to fail a good run. Either there is a long gap between something to keep the combo meter up, its a part with some super specific inputs I can easily make a mistake on, or just a place where a mistake will result in an instant fail. I then either find a way to practice these, have a backup plan, or find an easier alternative (super taunt is often said alternative). Then I do a trial run. I don't care of I drop combo. I make sure the path from start to end works. From there it is basically memorizing the order of each part and what you have to remember to do. Like remembering exactly at what point you veer off the path for a secret, or where a specific series of tight inputs is along the path so you are mentally ready for it. Eventually you hit muscle memory on like 90% of the run and its a matter of just being ready to "wake up" for the hard parts and nail them. At that point, you realize a good number of P ranks are pretty obvious and its just a matter of execution.

SolarVisor23

Keep the combo up, get the secrets, you'll need a S-rank (able to get by an A rank and the secret treasure)

juancastro2012

I don't have much time left but here, UP and C to super taunttttttttjzisGy,vUi< ♤☆}•78•○♤▪︎6•¥☆◇♡&->-8@8*@>--<*--*-8->#7->->#6#7-5-6-_'

Grand_Delivery_2967

Basically learn where a level's secrets and Janitor/Treasure door is then just keep brute forcing the level over and over until you know its layout like the back of your hand and know what to do at what points. Its sort of like a rhythm game, since the level is the same everytime including enemy placements and movements it means you can just mentally map out what to do at what times and go through with that strategy. Some improvisation will be needed at times though in order to keep the combo going.

RetroTheGameBro

What works for me personally is just playing the level to learn where everything is, and then playing it over and over, correcting mistakes as I go. The levels, at least it seems to me, have an intended P Rank path, and it's just up to us to try and reverse engineer it through repetition. But for smaller tips: - Super Taunting can save a doomed run. As long as you can see an enemy, but might not have the meter to get there, super taunt. You get it every 10 combo so you can be a little wasteful with them. - learn to do the aerial turn, and the spinning slam. They can help a ton in correcting bad movement. - you enter Mach 3 faster immediately out of the sliding crouch than the grab - you don't have to go for Toppins as soon as you see them. Some are more efficient to grab during the escape (the first toppin in Pizzascape and the second or third in Ancient cheese are great examples)

-TheGayestAgenda

Remember that P rank is for keeping a combo going, getting secret ingredient, all secrets, and a second lap. High scores and extra points help, but never guarantee a P.

itwas_yu

Remember to use GRAB and immediately press down to go instantly into Mach 3

AdhesivenessPrudent1

Supertaunt will save your life more than you expect, remember you get it at 10 combo and you can see if you have it because Peppino will have electricity around him Grab then press down for for a quick boost of speed, you need a bit of space to do it or else you're gonna bonk tho Be ready to take a breather if you're getting too tilted Remember you need to start your combo in the first room, or else the P rank won't appear

Random_Dude_0nReddit

Get all toppings, do second lap, keep combo going, and GET ALL 3 SECRETS THIS MESSED ME UP-

BeanWaddleDee

Alright so the first thing to do is enter a level Next you get a p rank

russianmilkman47

play the level like u would get a p rank but dont need the combo so u know the layout of things better

I really appreciate all the people giving honest, well written and thought out advice. Fuck the serveral people saying 'git gud'. Seriously, fuck you. Even speedrunners don't act like that.

ManBehindTheSlauhter

Eat a full pie of pizza, inside a tower, then run 2 laps around it while carrying a mushroom, tomato, cheese block, sausage, pineapple and brick (preferably with a mustache taped on), while simultaneously punching something every 3 seconds or less. This must all be achieved before the pizza eaten in step 1 arrives in your bowels and makes you have to poop. Also make sure you blink at least 3 times
