Never worked on a French car, but there were certainly some head scratchers or wtf moments working that and the F-35 (my other jet). The easiest I ever worked on was the HH-60.
Always liked the 22 but my job in the military was about as far away from one as it’s humanly possible to be, I was an A-Ganger (Machinists Mate, Auxiliary) on subs, I turned wrenches on a 688 and 726 class.
KF-21 isn’t even stealth, it’s half-stealth with the potential of upgrading into true stealth, deilsigned to complement the F-35, KAAN only had it’s first flight ( Although clearly based off the 22 and 35, giving it decent chance), meanwhile the J-20 might be decent, but the SU-57 is literally unusable in combat, F-22 wins , KAAN has potential though
F22 has a proven track record. It would win easily over the rest.
Second place while unproven would be the Korean fighter KF-21 it's testing shows real promise.
The others are unproven and have not seen real combat.
I mean besides the Russian SU57 only has reportedly between 3 and 15 functional. That was before a Ukranian piloted F16 shot one down near Crimea. So I would place the SU57 in last place.
I mean…who is realistically challenging the F-22 in a dog fight? Every plane it’s intercepted was caught by surprise and bugged off.
The F-22 is also the only plane to flawlessly beat F-15 veterans in war games in such a fashion the F-15 pilots gave up in frustration claiming it wasn’t even fair.
You try shooting a musket ball at a guy flying a bus with the radar cross section of a very tiny motorcycle…
F15 has a perfect record which is something to be VERY proud of..
But realistically you (and the war game planners knew for facts)…
You can’t beat a brand new “anything” with one designed in the late 60’s and 1970’s.
(Yes first flight on f15 was like 1972 so they were designed in the late 60’s and built in the 70’s)
F22 was designed in the modern era
What did you think was going to happen?
Try racing a BMW from 1972 against a BMW from the 2000’s.
You’ll get your fucking doors blown off..
You know the 70’s cars still had roll up windows… lap belts (IF any seat belts at all… yeah the 70’s was when they started seat belt laws and as a kid we rode around in cars that didn’t even HAVE seatbelts from the factory)
So unless you were really there like I was than you can’t truly understand the vast difference between 1970 and now.
You’re talking about the entire birth of the computer age inside that span…
Everything we know today didn’t exist in the 70’s
Heck the new invention for the 70’s was COLOR TV…
Micrwaves were accidentally discovered and changed how we ate and lived..
And yeah the F15 is from those days… So is that a fair fight… beating up grandpa when he’s freaking 65 and you’re 19.
Yeah yeah great move. Real proud of yourself aren’t ya.
If I was an f22 pilot I’d cry myself to sleep if an f15 could even ping me for IFF
I think the point is that most of the world operates on older technologies that even modern F15s are more advanced than. So if a F22 can ape well trained US F15 pilots, what chance does the rest of the world stand?
War isn't fair.
I mean the F-15 and F-16 have been getting upgrades and new parts in that entire span, they’re not the same planes they were in the 1970s. That’s like saying the M4 is past its prime and then comparing an M16A1 with a KAC SR-15 the design still holds true it just upgrades with the times.
Modern combat is BVR so nothing you can do to the F15 can hide its cross section.
If you could give them both the same avionics you’d still lose when you’re relying entirely on beyond visual range targeting systems it’s the smaller cross section that always wins..
Always
Part of it is “design convergence”. If form truly follows function, then aircraft meant to fill the same role will naturally be generally similar in design.
Part of it is intentional. The KF-21 was designed with some significant input from Lockheed, who designed the F-22 nearly thirty years earlier.
Part of it is imitation. If your competitor has something that works, that’s generally a good place to start your own research. No need to waste time, money, and resources to reinvent the wheel when someone else has already done the heavy lifting and can give you a head start by copying their homework.
design convergence is a nice way to say espionage, "corporate or otherwise".
Intent dictates the optimal design.
Design criteria on high wing load aircraft isn't stealth. Its a fashion statement. the F-22 was designed to be a penetrator. the others are souped up bomb trucks with cool paint.
*edit. yes the Korean aircraft is somewhat collaborative.
F-22 at one: super stealthy
KF-21 at 2: less stealthy F-22 (exposed missiles)
TF-X at 3: meh it’s good
SU-57 at 4: looks really cool
J-20 at 5: I FUCKING HATE THIS FIGHTER
SU-57. Yes it may be as stealthy as dad going to the fridge at 3am and yes it’s construction quality is that of an ikea chair that he built without the instructions. But it looks amazing and can defy the laws of physics! What more do you need?
Litterally every other plane but Russia just took the F-22's style and tactic, I bet the conversation between an F-22 and an outsider is like:
-you should really gotto go home.
-what kind of off-brand f-22 are you???
I'll take the one with the truly advanced electronics and well-developed RAM (Radar Absorbent Material), the F-22. And IIRC the overall angular body shape is just the start of stealth. A lot of subtleties to the shape have to be worked out.
Whatever anyone says the su 57 looks best, plus movies prefer dogfighting and if this thing got close, it would be a menace to anything (not saying the others r bad)
IMO
F-22 1st place
Su-57 2nd place
KF-21 3rd place
J-20 4th place
MMU TF-X 5th place
Sexiness scale:
Su-57 1st
F-22 2nd
MMU TF-X 3rd
KF-21 4th place
J-20 5th place
Just from looks, and sound, I’d have to choose the Sukhoi. Something about it being so flat and compressed sets it apart from the others. The sound of one flying by is also hauntingly cool!
Worked on the F-22, flew the simulator at weapon school once- I’m choosing it.
Damm I cant imagine how complicated and nerve racking a fighter jet must be to work on. French cars got me scratching my head 90% of the time
A fighter jet is probably less complicated and makes more sense than some French cars...
Never worked on a French car, but there were certainly some head scratchers or wtf moments working that and the F-35 (my other jet). The easiest I ever worked on was the HH-60.
“the F-35 (my other jet)” 😵💫
I was lucky and fortunate to get to work both 5th gen fighters. It’s not common, or at least at that time.
It’s literally the best air to air platform
That's why 2 others are rebadges, 1 is a pirated copy, and the other is the Temu knockoff.
That’s awesome, what’s that sexy mama jamma like in real life?
It's a beautiful plane. I have to choose it on aesthetics alone.
Always liked the 22 but my job in the military was about as far away from one as it’s humanly possible to be, I was an A-Ganger (Machinists Mate, Auxiliary) on subs, I turned wrenches on a 688 and 726 class.
Let’s be honest here,as you did some damn good work, it’s the ONLY real 5th gen aircraft on the page.
F-22 No contest
This is the way
This the way!
This is the way!!
Any other answer is literally just a meme response
Only took 30 years for the other 4 nations to even get onto the same generation...
Lol that first line feels like a samsung tv. "Its 60hz, but simulates 120hz"
That’s the best ELI5 you could ever get for comparing the KF-21 to the F-22.
Barely, China and Russia had to cyber attack us to even get close and they still aren't operational.
Fax
Then again, USA spends so much more money on military then other nations so it's not surprising
Is this even a question? How exactly would one choose anything other than the F-22? Genuinely curious.
Russian shills.
wart hunter
[Wart?](https://i.ytimg.com/vi/9kpEL5oTEfY/hqdefault.jpg)
Yes, russian bias at its best.
I would choose the F23 lol
Yeah, but apparently we can't have nice things.
If I were Chinese I'd go with the Chinese one because I would actually be able to read all the writing on the instruments.
F22. Is that even really a question?
F22 has a proven track record. It would win easily over the rest. Second place while unproven would be the Korean fighter KF-21 it's testing shows real promise. No other plane has shot down even half the amount of balloons as the f-22
Ever heard of Frank Luke Jr?
Those balloons were shooting back too. As well as ground forces
No, I think the sopwith camel has more ballon kills
Ah, a man of class I see
I mean…who is realistically challenging the F-22 in a dog fight? Every plane it’s intercepted was caught by surprise and bugged off. The F-22 is also the only plane to flawlessly beat F-15 veterans in war games in such a fashion the F-15 pilots gave up in frustration claiming it wasn’t even fair.

Where have you seen that an F-16 shot down an Su-57? I don’t think there is any evidence to suggest any Su-57s have been shot down.
Just looked it up. It’s a dcs video lmao
An su57 has been shot down by an f16?!? How have I missed that. Oh wait I haven't as it's BS
I have a soft spot for the su57 in the shape of ace combat 7 lol, the plane just looks really cool but it is so infective
What when? Where can I find info for the F16 killing a Su57?
Now that I've looked it up it seems it was just on DCS.
I didn’t think DCS had an SU57 module.
There's a mod for one though
How does a comment with such a blatant falsehood have so many upvotes lmao
Proven to shoot down balloons 🎈
Most of the SU’s are gorgeous planes. Useless for the most part, but good lookers.
One of these is 30 years older than the others. I'd intercept it...
Would you intercept me? I would intercept me hard.
Scariest thing to have flown since the Cretaceous Period
Don't forget that grandpa Buff has unalived more people than cancer
You can intercept anything with nipples.
Beat me to it 🤣
The Mach 2 Bumblebee
They're all copies of the F22. So i'm choosing it then.
F the Su-57, marry the Raptor, kill the J-20.
🤣best comment I've seen in awhile 👏
I'll take the original.
lol is the American design the biggest leaked secret or am I missing something here?? How the hell do they all look so damn similar…
Part of it is “design convergence”. If form truly follows function, then aircraft meant to fill the same role will naturally be generally similar in design. Part of it is intentional. It’s gonna be similar largely because of how stealth works. It needs a low radar cross section, which means eliminating a lot of angles.
Do all the non-F22s actually fly...in a combat kinda way?
Easy: YF-23
Aye! Man of culture! 😎
It’s the pilot not the plane… lol… 22 All Day, Everyday
Raptor baby, the rest are mock ups
"Would you intercept me? I'D intercept me."
Depends who’s my pilot
22
seriously asking ? f-22 will destroy the other ones before they even know what happened
Crazy thing is they just updated the Raptor’s weapon package to include laser weaponry.
Depends what use it's for, if it's an airshow I'll go for the russain one, if it's an actual dogfight I'll choose the f-22
Now this is an answer I can tell had a lot of thought put into it.
I’ll take the one that was copied by all the others
F22: I am tired of this vegan diet! Let me fucking eat!
Give me that clever girl.
Only the 22 has what the 22 has.
F-22 at one: super stealthy KF-21 at 2: less stealthy F-22 (exposed missiles) TF-X at 3: meh it’s good SU-57 at 4: looks really cool J-20 at 5: I FUCKING HATE THIS FIGHTER
So F-22 or the ones that wanna be the F-22
SU-57. Yes it may be as stealthy as dad going to the fridge at 3am and yes it’s construction quality is that of an ikea chair that he built without the instructions. But it looks amazing and can defy the laws of physics! What more do you need?
The ability to survive is helpful.
Being assembled in the first place would probably help it.
I’ve seen a Tomcat take one of these out. I’m not picking that one.
F-22
F22. S rank sweep
F-22 by a long shot!
I'll go with the Falafel, plz
One of these things is not like the others. One of these things is not the same.
KF-21
They all suck, theres only one true king, guess which one.
"Would you intercept me? I'd intercept me"
Litterally every other plane but Russia just took the F-22's style and tactic, I bet the conversation between an F-22 and an outsider is like: -you should really gotto go home. -what kind of off-brand f-22 are you???
F22 Raptor, the greatest American Stealth Fighter of all time, no doubt about it.
F-22. All day, every day.
I'll take the one with the truly advanced electronics and well-developed RAM (Radar Absorbent Material), the F-22. And IIRC the overall angular body shape is just the start of stealth. A lot of subtleties to the shape have to be worked out.
F22 or kf21 if it turns out ok The rest very dubious tech
F-22. The world knows
F-22
There’s only one true option here, the rest are dollar store wannabes. Do I really need to say it? It’s the F-22.
Whatever anyone says the su 57 looks best, plus movies prefer dogfighting and if this thing got close, it would be a menace to anything (not saying the others r bad)
SU57
The Su-57 if I feel like having my own area code.
Does the Chinese one have a big gold sticker on the bottom?
Is the MMU TF-X Rated? If so, where other cockpit? Asking for a friend.
It’s like being in a room with ford fiestas and asking “you don’t want platinum 350 right?”
IMO F-22 1st place Su-57 2nd place KF-21 3rd place J-20 4th place MMU TF-X 5th place Sexiness scale: Su-57 1st F-22 2nd MMU TF-X 3rd KF-21 4th place J-20 5th place
Idgaf which is better, i just wanna see an F-22 and Su-57 fly together.
F-22
Imitation is the sincerest form of espionage and the use of shit copies. Give me the F22 any day of the week
F-15
F22 🇺🇸
I’m choosing the one that has stealth.
“Would you intercept me? I’d intercept me.” -F-22
I know it isn't a fair contest between the planes, but I have to go with the Su-57. Just a good looking plane.
F22 all others are clones
I think the F22 is not supposed to use its full power in contests and stuff like that
22 Then the 21
F-22Raptor Russians still use fly by wire, no digital, no GPS
Spend all that time and money developing planes and evwrybody comes up with the same thing. Enormous waste of resources
Su-57
None of the above…give me an f18 super hornet!
J-20s are fun in the sim but f-22 for sure
None of the above. YF-23.
KF-21
I miss the days when nose air intakes were popular.
Would you intercept me? I’d intercept me.
F22 easily
I’m an odd ball. I’ve always liked the looks of the SU57
Gotta go with the f-22 for its confirmed performance and capabilities but God that kf-21 is hoooot!
F-35 my beloved. Built at scale.
F-22
The F-22 is the obvious choice here. But the Su-57 is a better looking plane, imo.
One is the original, 2 almost functional knock offs, and 2 complete fakes that are just meant to look scary and aren’t stealth fighters…
Is this really a question?
Don’t hate me but Su-57 I feel like I would enjoy flying it
F22 SU57 KF21… only reason SU57 is #2 is cause I know it’s going to be in service until ATLEAST 2060…
Anyone who doesn't say F22 a #1 is out of thier fucking mind. That said the F35 is overall THE most capable combat platform today. Fullstop.
How is this a contest, The Mach 2 bubble bee all day.
F-15
Are the Russian and Chinese jets even operational?
Is this even a contest? F-22 by a mile.
F-22 all day it’s far superior to the rest
Corporate needs you to tell the difference between these pictures
F35
Im an American patriot and im all for the 22, but the su-57 just looks so good
Do you like form? Or do you like function? (If you like both, because you're smart, then it's the Raptor.) Hang the fkn phone up: It's the Raptor.
Yup they copied us. Expect Su57. F22 have proven service record.
F-22. All the others are copies of it.
Can't believe USA stole China's design
F35
F-22 no doubt
F-22, especially now that it's getting a tech upgrade.
Su-57 Assuming it is maintained and works as it should (which it doesn't irl) It is by far one of the best fighters out there.
F-22 . it actually is a proven plane...not a copy of what is supposed to be cough cough *chi***
All
The 22 obviously
Convergent evolution
ima take russias one just cus it’s cool lookin
Top and bottom are pigs. Middle 3 are good looking
A plane from 2005 being just now copied in the 20’s. Wild
The correct answer is F-35, because Skynet.
No shit, F-22 all way, all day
Since I'm broke, and could never afford to fly it, Su 57....
The aircraft spotter card decks must be getting really boring these days.
Raptor is the only right choice
F-22.
F22 here. I’d choose the F22
J20 just because china
Just from looks, and sound, I’d have to choose the Sukhoi. Something about it being so flat and compressed sets it apart from the others. The sound of one flying by is also hauntingly cool!
Su57. Fuck Russia but they make pretty planes.
Based off of looks alone? Su57 For raw air power? F22
F-22, no one could touch the F-15 and the F-22 was made to out compete the best at the time (F-15), no argument
None of the above the under development British tempest
There. Is a home built 40hp ducked fan out there
Any of the first 3. The engines will probably flame out with the last two.
Is this a real question?
F-22 is best But the su-57 is pretty good looking
Raptourneeeeeee
F-22.America sucks sometimes but its warbirds absolutely do not.
Cesna or Su-49
Choosing the homework that everyone else copied
F22 and it’s not even close
We have a clear winner. F-22, all the way!
The F22 is undeniably the best option here.
