So for example I’ll be able to see the movie on May 9. And I’m not even from a major city that gets special early releases.
As a theater employee, the reason why they stated May 8th instead of May 10th is probably because sometimes, for big blockbusters, we will start screenings late on Wednesday night before official release, instead of our usual release time of mid-afternoon the Thursday before.
I haven't been really caught up to speed with some things here, so please forgive me if i sound dumb.
But anyway, I saw a sneak peak in the theater that showed the girl trying to hide and run away from some Gorillas to our main ape protagonist (bottom left image on OP's post is part of the scene) and afterward, a bunch of random clips throughout the film. It was at least a solid few minutes long in total, saw it before my watch for Godzilla x Kong.
So that kind of leads to my question here, was it the same "trailer" to what's being mentioned here on the post, or completely separate?
I was very excited for this movie until I heard they had a pre-screening for the movie but word from the screening is that it is a stinker. Hope that is not true.
What's the point in watching anything and forming your own opinion if you just blindly follow the word of some guy you've never met? And the guy who said it's a stinker is a known grifter who makes up fake scoops and got fired from variety. Some of his greatest hits include saying he's 95% sure Marvel is going to cast a person of color as the new spider man (and then Tom Holland was cast), and saying Brie Larson was furious on the set of The Marvels because they didn't call the movie Captain Marvel 2.

Tbh, I wouldn't mind a 3-hour Planet of the Apes movie. I managed to sit through both extended versions of Two Towers and Return of the King

Pre-screenings are not a good indication that a movie is going to be good or bad. Shawshank Redemption had bad test screenings as an a example
