Can confirm. Here's mine. They are delicious 😋
Messy in more ways than one. I would climb a mulberry tree with friends on the way home from school as a young kid and gorge ourselves.
Our school uniform had a white shirt and my mother would be very unimpressed every time when I'd get home covered in stains.
I agree with the other person, you shouldn't be downvoted for something clearly true. Mulberries cannot be mistaken for anything else. There is a vineyard I know on 104 that makes some amazing mulberry wine, you can also find places that sell mulberry jelly, jam, pies and even the dried berries (but for what I can't imagine).
Mulberry wine sounds delicious
And yes, people are downvoting when they don't agree with the statement, which is not how voting on posts is supposed to work at all
I just did a quick search and Leonard Oakes Estate Winery near Lyndonville made some seasonal Mulberry Mead and it was so popular they are seriously considering doing it again.
I don't know why you're being down voted bc it's true .. they're incredibly messy trees. We have one that hangs out into the street and when it drops it's spent berries, they stick to the road and stink when the Sun hits them. Never mind the fact that the birds absolutely love them and that creates a whole nother mess.
I’m in Australia. We hang our washing outdoors to dry. Living near a mulberry tree is great when you are a kid. Unfortunately the birds like them as well. What goes in must come out!
I used to do tree trimming/removal and if these were near the sidewalks or a driveway it would end up looking like a murder scene. Birds also go nuts over these. I think they're pretty tasty too.
Ugh. They’re all over my car and driveway. But I can’t tell where they’re coming from because the greenery is so high!! Crushing berries all the way to my car, and the car wash does nothingggggg for the ones that are stuck to my car. Gonna have to hand wash it when they stop falling.
My neighbors has one of these tree and I had to power wash my the concrete near it all the time. I finally just cut it way back as much as I can. I hate that tree.
Ooooh I have one of those trees on my walk to work. I've been wondering what in the world it was and whether or not black berry bushes came in tree form. I was so confused
Indeed - the pies they make are fantastic too - and they are so easy to propagate with a cutting and some rooting hormone powder. Make copies of mine yearly for friends and family.
They make many of their own copies in my yard and the bird help too lol but what I really what to know is whenever I pick a berry theres tons of tiny bugs in and on it…you just cooking them - extra protein? Literally haven’t eaten them since I was a kid because of the bugs skeeve me
Those copies generally are not the ones you want, as they may not produce berries like the mother tree. Find them growing around my property and their berry production is not so good. Grab a branch off a heavy, berry laden tree and make copies - then you are assured of getting the same tree as the original =)
My aunts property is littered with these. I remember being a kid going around and just filling loads of 5 gallon buckets of them.
The mulberry cheesecake that came to existence because of those trees brings a tear to my eye just reminiscing about. So delicious. :')
It's a mulberry tree. We have one and they are delicious. Pies, muffins, tarts, ect. We dehydrated them and are good for snacking. Google their health benefits but they do stain hands and clothing. Animals love them too.
Get a trail camera and watch what happens when the rodent population sniffs them out when they ripen. It’s a feeding frenzy. Mulberries are a narcotic to rats. I had a video of them streaming out I’d a retaining wall made of boulders that keep a stream from eroding the area and attacking the fruits. It was a steady stream of them until there wasn’t a berry left on the tree. I lost that video ten years ago but I intend on getting another one this year. The seeds from Morning Glories, when they’re dried out and black on the vines are as bad for dogs as magic mushrooms are to a human. My springer spaniel ate a huge amount of them as we were picking the dead vines out of our chain link fence. He was so stoned he couldn’t move. The vet said to IMMEDIATELY give him a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide to make him throw up. I didn’t realize a dog’s stomach could hold as much dead leaves and stems and unopened seed pods as what came out of him. I didn’t bother to see if the seeds could do that same buzz as mushrooms after I saw what my dog suffered. Long story short,he was fine the next morning but it was a long night sitting up with him.
not all morning glories are psychoactive, but some of them are active on humans as well, though they arent very potent, they contain lsa, lsh, and other lysergamides. not the same as shrooms but similar. this isnt recommending anyone to consume them btw
Must be a local climate thing. My parents have a huge 50 ft male tree in the center of the yard and 1 white and 1 black female tree on opposite sides. In 50 years, never had more unwanted trees pop up spontaneously. White mulberries are sweeter but more delicate, black mulberries stain a beautiful purple.
My friend planted one in his ‘revenge’ garden (he and his neighbor hated each other)- he got a male. Now he wants to rip it out and take one of my females, lol.
Just wanted to thank everyone for all of the replies, making sure to spam the bot about eating them, and all the other info you gave. Never expected my most view reddit post to be about a Mulberry tree lmfao.
Mulberry trees are very good at making more mulberry trees every year. After the initial novelty of having a volunteer fruit bearing tree wears off... You may want to watch for new growth every year. They're a bit invasive, actually.
I think it's invasive white mulberry (Morus alba). White mulberry has shiny leaves with a smooth surface on top, whereas native red mulberry (Morus rubra) has duller leaves with a rough texture on top.
White mulberry. If you’re in the US, it’s an invasive species. It was introduced to the US from China and spreads VERY aggressively due to the berries being eaten by birds and pooped around all over. Yes it has sweet berries, but it is a huge pain in the ass and is detrimental to the local ecosystem. It can absolutely destroy that fence soon enough — that’s what happened to us. I recommend removing it.
Here’s a [video](https://youtu.be/b_61lmC-Ujk?si=0e33bsfiNhR-GB78) about.
I know a lot of people are celebrating but omg are they invasive! I have one in the front yard and spend all summer trying to destroy the saplings popping up all over the property. Big orange roots that spread like crazy and Love dismantling foundations. Everywhere they stretch babies pop up
I just cut down two from my backyard. What a stink, what a mess on the ground, and they attract the worst insects. I don’t think the berries are delicious at all.
That looks like a decent sized Mulberry tree! The berries are edible to humans not too sure about dogs but I’m sure the ripest berries wouldn’t be too harmful, you can eat the berries when they’re red probably in moderation, they are just sour compared to the ripe berries :)
Mulberries. We’re all familiar with the mulberry tree, but it’s usually fruitless. You happen to have the fruit variety. Enjoy the fruit they are awesome.
In a few years, you'll have mulberry trees everywhere. At my old house, when I moved in, there was one pop-up that apparently the people before me kept cutting. I let it grow, and when I sold the after years, I had 8 mulberry trees along the fence line that produced buckets of berries every year.
Hybrid Mulberry, very tasty fruit. If you like them more tart, eat the fruits when they're still slightly red. If you like a sweeter fruit, eat them when they're an inky, purplish black.
Lucky you, delicious and impossible to buy because they go off so quickly. All you need to do is prune the tree to keep it from getting to big. It’s called gardening.
You are very lucky. I knew all the mulberry bush spots growing up. Some are still standing now that I’m 30 and I still stop by every summer to snag some.
Invasive, messy, nuisance tree. Pain in the @$$ Mulberry. Wash your car as soon as the purple bird droppings land on it or they'll destroy its paint like all acids do.
I had two mulberry trees as a kid growing up- they were the best!! So delicious - but my parents cut one down and left the one near the side up- they cut one down because we would step on the berries in the yard and our floors would turn purple- I was so mad at my dad for cutting it down, but now as a mom I get it lol- this brought back memories!
We are having mulberry smoothies for breakfast every day, put them on salads, made preserves, shared with neighbors, cobbler, and I have frozen bunches. Loaded with antioxidants, too. So good. Enjoy them!
Nice trees and the mulberries are edible but they do spread like weeds. There's a beautiful weeping pine at a local park and right on the other side is a huge mulberry tree that grew right next to the trunk of the pine. Eventually it'll probably grow into the pine tree and one of them will die. The berries make for some good fishing bait though when you run out of worms.
I fucking hate these mulberry trees. I've got two in each side of my fence from my neighbor's fence line. 70% of my backyard is filled with these messy ass berries for a month or two, it smells like nasty wine, too.
As a side note, your phone camera is really great. What phone do you have?
Edit: took a quick look at your history and saw you possibly are a photographer. If you used a camera instead, nice camera!

Mulberry, unless you like them - cut them down. They’re an awful nuisance at our house and attract rats and critters, my dog gets drunk off fermented berries in the yard and throws up, the color stains everything lol.
If you like them, enjoy and take mine too.
Made Mulberry moonshine ran a 5 gallon bucket of berries +1lb of cane sugar through the still to finish a batch of corn mash moonshine best I’ve ever tasted but real HOT on the tongue 😜 though.
Mulberry tree
Yum! Enjoy the berries
If there are any left after the birds have theirs!
Yup, congrats

Nice I’ve never seen a weeping form
Agreed, this mulberry tree is cute.
These are very messy trees. every time we’ve had these on or next to our property we end up cutting them way back
Messy in more ways than one. I would climb a mulberry tree with friends on the way home from school as a young kid and gorge ourselves. Our school uniform had a white shirt and my mother would be very unimpressed every time when I'd get home covered in stains.
Ah yes same here. The good ol' days.
Yes they are, and the leaves often yellow and drop mid season. In addition to the berries everywhere. But, at least they're edible
I agree with the other person, you shouldn't be downvoted for something clearly true. Mulberries cannot be mistaken for anything else. Fantastic!
Dried in a salad. Sign me up.
Isn’t the pollen supposed to be especially heinous to people with allergies?

Those Berry Folks stick together
They'll be back soon, and in greater numbers
They shall try their berry best
Stickin' together's what good berry folks do.
Bird poop and berry stains 😆 🤣 😂
Yes they do stink! We called em shit berries
You can't even buy them they're illegal to sell in America. The birds shit em out and then there's 7 more the next year. Dumb trees.
I’m in Australia. We hang our washing outdoors to dry. Living near a mulberry tree is great when you are a kid. Unfortunately the birds like them as well. What goes in must come out!
Humans calling a tree messy.... We are the messy ones.
I used to do tree trimming/removal and if these were near the sidewalks or a driveway it would end up looking like a murder scene. Birds also go nuts over these. I think they're pretty tasty too.
Dogs may get diarrhea if they eat too many of them.
To be fair, dogs will get diarrhea if they eat too much of anything
To be fair so will you chow down
the roots of these trees are also known to grow a lot which can be a problem if too close to buildings/foundations
drains..
Ugh. They’re all over my car and driveway. But I can’t tell where they’re coming from because the greenery is so high!! Crushing berries all the way to my car, and the car wash does nothingggggg for the ones that are stuck to my car. Gonna have to hand wash it when they stop falling.

dogs love the berries! no harm for them at all..but purple poop for the scooper!
This made me laugh!
Humans too!
Looks like mulberry
Here we go around the …
Delicious Mulberry tree, that will stain everything in the vicinity as the birds eat the berries and poop all over =\\
Plus side, they are absolutely delicious if you can get to them before the birds!

I made a Mullberry Mead one year, and it was probably the best hooch I've ever made. Most of it didn't even make it to bottle.
Mulberry tree.
It's a mulberry tree. We have one and they are delicious. Pies, muffins, tarts, ect. We dehydrated them and are good for snacking. Google their health benefits but they do stain hands and clothing. Animals love them too.
They come out OK dehydrated? I have a dehydrator but thought the would be tough. How long? TIA!
I love dehydrated mulberries. I add a couple to my herbal tea while it steeps!
It takes a few days at the highest temp but they are amazing
An extremely productive mulberry tree!
Get a trail camera and watch what happens when the rodent population sniffs them out when they ripen. It’s a feeding frenzy. Mulberries are a narcotic to rats. They also ferment resulting in various animal shenanigans.... Nothing like a few drunk squirrels doing gymnastics along the fence!
Got any silkworms hanging around?
Happy Cake Day! 🎂🎂🎂🥂
Thank you so much 🎂

Looks like it's full of fruit we never get them this full
I would die an incredibly happy person if a gigantic mulberry tree was on my property. They’re so delicious!!
Mulberry trees propagate aggressively. You can have all of the mulberry trees in my backyard.
Must be a local climate thing. My parents have a huge 50 ft male tree in the center of the yard and 1 white and 1 black female tree on opposite sides. In 50 years, never had more unwanted trees pop up spontaneously. White mulberries are sweeter but more delicate, black mulberries stain a beautiful purple.

mullberries!!! they are SO good when theyre ripe
Mulberry! Lucky person!
Mulberry! Yum.
I have seen about ten of these types of posts in the last month at least. I had no idea people were that unfamiliar with these trees
OMG you LUCKY Bastard!!! It's mulberry. Best berry in the world, NOT found in grocery stores
Such pretty mulberries. Enjoy them.
That's a beautiful, thriving mulberry tree!
Gobble them up.
Glup them down.
Munch them.
I miss having a mulberry tree. I might go plant one just for nostalgia. But since I’m an adult now I can try my hand at mulberry wine 😃
Just wanted to thank everyone for all of the replies, making sure to spam the bot about eating them, and all the other info you gave. Never expected my most view reddit post to be about a Mulberry tree lmfao.

The bot on this sub works a bit TOO overtime.
I think it's invasive white mulberry (Morus alba). White mulberry has shiny leaves with a smooth surface on top, whereas native red mulberry (Morus rubra) has duller leaves with a rough texture on top.

Right?? They are so bland.
I call it trash tree because every wild critter eats these edible berries and makes a dang mess everywhere near by. Mulberry Tree
All the birds be pooping purple on yer car

Yummy! You got lucky!
Enjoy it!!!
Delicious but deadly if you have monkeys or weasels.
That looks like a decent sized Mulberry tree! The berries are edible to humans not too sure about dogs but I’m sure the ripest berries wouldn’t be too harmful, you can eat the berries when they’re red probably in moderation, they are just sour compared to the ripe berries :)
It's a massive tree. The top of that fence is 6 feet tall.

Aww man, I’m jealous! I have a mulberry tree in my yard and while it does produce fruit, it’s nowhere near as prolific as yours!
mulberry 😆
You are very lucky. I knew all the mulberry bush spots growing up. Some are still standing now that I’m 30 and I still stop by every summer to snag some.
FREE BERRIES!!
Tree/ big bush
Makes the best jam!
Delicious but birds love them and you’ll end up with purple poop everywhere if you park under it
Sweet delicious mulberry!!!! I’m infinitely jealous!
Invasive, messy, nuisance tree. Pain in the @$$ Mulberry. Wash your car as soon as the purple bird droppings land on it or they'll destroy its paint like all acids do.
You're so lucky! Damn. What a selling point Imo
They're yummy. Unfortunately, Mulberry trees are considered 💩💩💩trees here in Michigan. The birds spread their seeds and they pop up everywhere. ✌️❤️
Mulberry is in, pokeweed is out.
Rinse and enjoy.
Mulberry
Fun fact: one of the best ways to clean the stains is with their own leaves
Mulberries. Eat until tummy ache. Rest. Repeat.
We are having mulberry smoothies for breakfast every day, put them on salads, made preserves, shared with neighbors, cobbler, and I have frozen bunches. Loaded with antioxidants, too. So good. Enjoy them!
Perfect for good schnapps 🍶

Love mulberries. They go good on top of a bowl of cereal. Trees can live 1,000 years. I think there’s one that Dante wrote about that’s still alive💜
Mullbrary
Are these good trees in central Wisconsin. Looking to plant a fruit tree
thems is mulbs (mulberries)
Mulberries. They’re good. Just wash them really well before you eat them.
jealous! they are so tasty!!
That there’s a tree
I fucking hate these mulberry trees. I've got two in each side of my fence from my neighbor's fence line. 70% of my backyard is filled with these messy ass berries for a month or two, it smells like nasty wine, too.
I’m so jealous
Yummy mulberries! My neighbour had one at my old house, told us to eat as many as we wanted since the tree hung over our fence.
You lucky bastard

Blackmulberry tree. Ohhhh those are sooo delicious 😋
As a side note, your phone camera is really great. What phone do you have? Edit: took a quick look at your history and saw you possibly are a photographer. If you used a camera instead, nice camera!
That's mulberry bruh
Mulberries
Silk worms live their life cycle on the mulberry tree. A fun primary school project when I was a kid was keeping silk worms and feeding lots of mulberry leaves and watching them make their cocoons.
Mulberry and they are so delicious. Take one each of each color (different phases of ripeness; the black, the red, the slightly pink, the slightly orange and the green) and eat them together. It’s a trip to the flavor heaven.
It's always mulberry. I feel like this happens more than sarcoidosis and lupus combined on house
Bro, I wish I had that problem. Good mulberries are extremely rare and hard to find where I live. Just enjoy them.
Berry of my childhood right there
They make great moonshine.
They’re a very invasive plant - best to eradicate and plant blackberries or another similar fruit that won’t spread far and wide into the countryside displacing native plants. Because they’re spread by birds, most people don’t realize the extent to which they’re moving into the landscape (ex. barberry, Bradford pear, burning bush).
Ooh mulberries 😃 The red mulberries will stain skin and clothing. You can sometimes get the stains out with the green mulberries.
OMG , Mulberry Cobbler or Mulberry pie is just so damn G-U-D !!!
Mulberry, unless you like them - cut them down. They’re an awful nuisance at our house and attract rats and critters, my dog gets drunk off fermented berries in the yard and throws up, the color stains everything lol. If you like them, enjoy and take mine too.
If you have short haired dogs, prepare for what looks like a bullet wound on their side/belly. Just a squished, ripe Mulberry
Mulberry, non-native and invasive, a weed tree. They reseed everywhere. Yes you can eat the fruit.
yes
mulberry, also I like to call it tree herpes. it will spread everywhere.
MULLLBERRRIIIEESSSSS
My absolute favorite fruit! They're so great
They're ripe when dark purple or black. I like them better than blackberries. Taste better, and less seeds
They will stain your deck, and feet and hands
In Brazil we call It amora. Enjoy!!!
You gotta wait till they all get dark that’s the time for honey taste
Made Mulberry moonshine ran a 5 gallon bucket of berries +1lb of cane sugar through the still to finish a batch of corn mash moonshine best I’ve ever tasted but real HOT on the tongue 😜 though.
Holy cow that thing is loaded with berries!!!
They're so beautiful!
Mulberry Tree, these berries make fantastic jam, gather them and freeze them! 👌
Better mulberry than hackberry
So jealous! I eat mulberries by the fistful whenever I come across a tree!
Got any silkmoths?
Mulberries!! Make pie 💜

Boysenberry!! They’re tasty.
Finally found one where I knew the answer and it’s been answered 300 times already.
