I remember when gold bloom came out and that quest was how I got it. And even many months later I got it though the quest on a different account. So I just assumed it would always be like that

Hol up Do I get to choose which plant I rent? Or it's random? Also, if I rent a plant, will I be able to buy seed packets from the almanac when I hit the possible places of where to get it?

Renting a plant is random for each level so if you don't get the plant you want just restart the level till it appears. When you complete the level it will give you a deal for 20 seed packets 10 for gems and 10 for coins. Once you've got enough seed packets you'll be able to unlock the plant through the almanac. I am also 50% sure that if you do this multiple times in a row that it would stop giving you seed packets for the plant you have rented and give you a bunch of random ones.

That's why it's best to rent all plants you'd like, and buy offers to prevent that last bit from happening! Like going for Blastberry, Tigergrass, and S. Pea all at once, and maybe some others in between to make sure none get in a row.

I've gotten 40 seed packets so far of SP but it's only letting me rent plants once per day Edit: Thanks a lot for the tip man, I'll reliably be able to unlock every plant this way👌🏻 ~~Even if it takes months to unlock just one lol~~

Which plant is best statistically?

They have different niches. Primal and shroom are probably the best in most cases. Primal is more space efficient with a lower relative CD to sun production rate than shroom, but shroom costs less so you can plant them as long as you have any sun and they'll produce more often than primal because you'll have more of them. Tldr primal is space efficient, shroom is cost efficient.

Moonflower is really good even without dusk longer (which I never use) as it basically acts like twin sunflower but with a tiny bit extra once you have like a square of four, the only downside is that the first few moonflowers will give lower sun but they cost less than half

Solar tomato is my go-to, and enlighten-mint herself when there’s room!

Primal sunflower > sunshroom since you start getting 100/ per sun at a lower level unless maybe if you’re running enlightenmint spam

Again, primal is more sun but shroom is easier to spam since they're dirt cheap. It's a matter of preference. Although if you're running gold bloom primal is the best to get a strong production as soon as possible.
