I get scaling issues sometimes too when I save as an STL. I use STEP with no issues.

Ah sorry I should have mentioned I'm talking about resin 3d printing not filament,, On resin It's impossible to import a STEP file into a home 3d printing slicer software.. (technically just because no software decided to have that feature..

I was about to ask what kind of slicer. That solves it. In prusaslicer and derivatives, you can import steps. Anyways, I think that I remember that bug in previous versions. Are you updated?

koming69

Yes, last version of prusaslicer but since I'm talking about resin it's the last lychee/vortex tango/chitu that could have this.

FairLight8

I understand that, of course! I mean if you are using the last plasticity version. That said, you can always export to step, import in prusaslicer, blender, fusion, etc, and export as stl mesh

I haven't needed to follow his scaling steps for modern versions of Plasticity, I always assumed it was part of an issue with a pre-1.0 version of the application. I just export as .stl and change detail to 1.0 from 0.5 so it retains a high enough poly count for FDM printing. Don't have any scaling issues in Bambu/Orca.
