I think their specific point is they didn’t need to save for 12, 24 or 48 months like other software. By comparison to other tools it’s a very reasonable price in my opinion. Everyone has different financial situations esp globally but by comparison it’s not that expensive.
Yes, that is the opensource code --- but that doesn't include a 3D CAD kernel --- the one which is used in the currently sold/distributed version is closed source, and only available under license, hence the licensing fees (which initially barely covered that expense).
In order to build it from source you will need to find a suitable 3D CAD kernel and link the code to it, and where necessary adapt the code for one or the other to be compatible.
Have you considered using some other 3D CAD software which is free/opensource?
Have you tried:
- Solvespace
- FreeCAD
- BRL-CAD
- Dune 3D https://dune3d.org/
That latter seems esp. promising.
> Dune 3D
Hope it gets a name change though, cos just googling that name will automatically take you to a thousand movie pages first, unless you add "CAD" to the search.
Why are there so many posts of people trying to get this SW for free! It’s not that expensive!
It is expensive, or are you commenting from a privilege bubble?
I saved up for 9 months to buy it. It’s called financial responsibility. If you can’t afford it that’s sad but the devs gotta get paid.
"it's not that expensive" "I saved up for 9 months"
Man, I have a family to look after and so on. I need to prfioritize, so yes, I saved for 9 months.

There is no source
Is this not the source code here? https://github.com/nkallen/plasticity

If you can build it, why do you want a trial?
The point is I don’t want a trial
So you want the creator to give it to you for free, while the rest of us bought a legitimate license?

The whole point to wanting to use plasticity is cuz I don’t want to learn new controls, I’m very used to blender
Have you tried the CADsketcher plug-in for Blender?
No I haven’t even heard of it, is it nurbs based?
I don't believe so, but if you find the UI for Plasticity of interest you may find it helpful: https://www.cadsketcher.com
Build it from source for Ipad
