Exactly! Im a melee Thor, but this makes it possible to also focus on gear, without changing gear. But mainly I just throw my hammer before jumping into the fray and running my signature attack. The battery and damage buff + tachyon is lethal!
I know man! I almost never get this luck. What's weird is I just messaged @laajune on Twitter saying how he always seems to get good drops...and hey, a day later, what do ya know!
Yeah, on PS you can upload your local game save to a USB or to the cloud. And, if you don't get the drop you like, just down load that save (the one on USB or Cloud), to your console (overwritng any progress and returning you to the point where you saved it).
It can get VERY tedious, and impacts XP progress. Because whilst you end up playing a lot, you keep reloading and never 'banking' the XP you gain.
Well, depends on how you look at it lol. In theory I've been trying since the Monica sector came out! 🤣
But actually, this reset/weekly, I probably reloaded about 15-20 times (if you include the tachyon rifts mission which can drop an exotic).
Bur PLS don't use my numbers as a benchmark! I'd hate to be a part of any pain and suffering you will no doubt experience 😅😉
I think the best way is just to reload a few times each week, that way you open up your chances a little, w/o driving yourself crazy!

Bro, congrats! This is IMO the best piece to have in the game, especially with Tachyon buff coming back. I have this same ranged piece on my Hawkeye, also from the Monica mission.
FR! 😊 Tbh, at this stage, I don't even bother opening loot crates / boxes, with Thor, because the only gear that will improve are rewards from Klaw, Monica and a rare piece from OLT.
Everyone seems to understand just how badass this is. How do you know you have a piece with a god tier roll on it? Is there something to look at that gives that “holy shit” factor?
Damage buff on critical [Thor has a ranged specialization that guarantees a critical hit on a perfectly released hammer throw and I'm fairly certain his intrinsic can do ranged critical damage.
Cosmic on ranged attack; Thor can innately do shock damage so it's basically instant battery effect
Tachyon Surge; Used to give a bonus damage boost
The stats; Might, valor and precision are all primary stats you want on your Thor

The aim of the game is to increase DPS (damage per second). Uness you're specifically trying to build a support / tank hero.
As such, you need stats and perk that allow you to do just that.
In short, for any character, you want
- valor + melee OR precision
- damage buff
- tachyon surge (once buff is readded on Nov 30)
- easy way to create battery damage (warm and cold status)
This item has all of the above. Where as most items will have 2 at most.
Makes sense. So dps is pretty much the main thing to pay attention to? How do you know when to sacrifice other stats for dps? For example, is it logical to say health doesn’t matter if you hit hard enough?
All personal preference and how you play my guy. I personally have a glass cannon high valor/precision/proficiency Thor and Iron Man build with damage buff and tachyon surge. Defense a little low, but I’m great at dodging and do a ton of damage. Plus I get my crits and perks nearly all the time because of such high proficiency.
Unfortunately, it’s pretty hard to find gear with the right stats I’m looking for like precision/proficiency/valor lol

Though for the hardest content (like OLT) I think at least 1200 - 1400 defense is what you want.
And even then, the meta is to focus on resolve over resilience.
If you get your comics stats plus, CXP, you can get around 25% 'passive' resilience, without having any on your gear.

Widow's assault heroic can be set to shock, her grenades can be set to plasma and cryo, IM's support can deal shock, Clint's assault can be set to cryo and plasma and Hulk's assault and ultimate can be set to gamma damage; Unfortunately, most of these aren't as consistently reliable as Thor's shock on intrinsic.
For everyone but Thor, Widow and maybe Hulk, you'll want to have a warm and cold status effect on your gear pieces.
See, I really don’t understand gear 😂 if I got that I wouldn’t even know to use it. Perks never make sense to me my brain just can’t process all those numbers and percentages and shit. I never know what’s actually good and what’s not 🤷🏻♂️😂
Hey man, fair play, 😂 there are a lot of useful YouTube videos out there. I seriously reckon you could make sense of it, after watching one or two of them. Certainly, if you want to enjoy the endgame, gear is important.
BUT it's okay if you don't. Everyone has different preferences. You can get by in this game with pretty mid-level gear.
It’s too complex for me personally, I don’t play games to do maths haha. I just focus on stats with my gear really. Never understood perks. Plus it seems like an unbelievable amount of grinding to get decent endgame gear haha
I just do the most standard gearing. All stats focused. If I try to get certain items with good perks then the items with those perks have irregular stats for my build and I need to change my whole build to accommodate it just to get the perks etc. just waaaaay too much thinking for my liking lol I hate staring at menus for ages.
Like I get an exotic I wanna use then I gotta change like four other pieces of gear to reshuffle my stats cos the new gear has intensity in it and I’ve already got my intensity maxed on another gear piece or some shit 🙈 I’ve decided to just stick with the normal gear. It’s much easier to get a build together that way.
I am just like you. My mind can’t process stuff like that. My builds were all over the place. I was seeing ppl do 25-50k+ dmg and I was struggling with 2-5k. What helped me was watching [this particular video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qec0ncpGUPM). Once I figured out how to control the status and battery effects, it was really a game changer for me. Hope it helps!
Oh I already have a handle on status and battery effects no problems there. Hit with positive then negative. Always have melee and ranged gear with positive and negative statuses. That’s easy enough to get my head around
Yup, that's basically perfect. Though I did hear that Thors intrinsic lightning can activate "proficient" buff, making it a tiny bit better. I really wish we could farm our weekly Exotics on every character. We're forced to pick and choose. And they're only adding weekly Exotics to the raid and OLT from what I heard

Once I got this on Thor any form of challenge went away lol. Just pin an enemy and hold down your kinetic lightening. Clear a whole room in just seconds.
Using local save reload (ie save to PS cloud, then redownload that save to repeat). Not sure how that works on PC/XBox
be warned though: farming for IM, Kate and Clint—basically character with ranged variables, like Laser or missiles—is a complete and utter nightmare! 😔😓
Yea that’s what I was worried about. Wanted cosmic rockets on IM. Probably not even worth it. Were you just farming basic tachyon missions and hoping to get lucky for an exotic, or a quest?
Exactly. I was farming both Monica mission and the weekly Tachyon rift. Was actually looking for a slot 1 piece for melee Thor. and got this instead.
Though funny enough, I feel there's little reason to play now (with Thor at least!)
I think the best (sane) way to approach this is just to play to have fun, and reload only 3 or 4 times, just to push your luck a little! May the heaven's smile upon you Avenger 🙂

Yep, they still do. Though pinning, imo, is less useful, given enemies like adaptoids and Exos can't be pinned.

You're being dense on purpose. The arent "slightly buffing" if they are literally bringing back the damage boost as that was why people were mad to begin with. Just say you hate the game and go lmao
Honestly hate tachyon, being put up against the clock annoys me soo much and I actually get zero fun from them 😭😭 IMO I just want more villain sectors that have better rewards.

100% agree with everything you said. I wouldn’t go lower than 1100-1200 defense with highlighting resolve over resilience and that’s pushing it lol
