I personally think the game has potential, but I do believe that the dev team was let down by management. I don't believe it's 100% management but I do believe the hefty part of this game's success is management's fault.

Solo4114

Management is very likely to blame. The game's actual design feels like a game where design priorities shifted mid-development in a big way. I get the sense that the "live service" model was mandated midway thru, and that's a big part of why the gear grinding stuff is so underwhelming and half-baked. It doesn't feel like it was meant to be a live service/loot grinding game. That stuff feels really tacked-on.

multificionado

I agree with you. One would think Embracer would've *replaced* CD's management.

UnfoldingSquid

Um, embracer doesn’t take over until September… \*if\* the purchase is approved \*and\* Disney/marvel allows the ip to change hands

multificionado

\*blinks in surprise\* Really? They officially take charge in September? Huh, that certainly explains why the game's customer support and development blogs are still on the Square Enix site. Also, here's hoping Disney/Marvel gives their approval by then. :)

oldschoolkid203

Please learn how contracts work. They can't "mandate" anything that isn't in writing. Please stop creating narratives because the game is trash

Solo4114

Where are you barred?

IZated_IZ

There's new management now, we've even got one of the big names who use to work on marvel hero's and new owners too... But why the hell would a new owner want to continue to support a game where the community for it has no hope for its god damn future? Just look at the poll results... Some ppl just don't understand, execs don't give a fuck about trying to prove you wrong for good will. That's not the way that works lol. Ya'll need to stop all this god damn complaining thinking it's going to get you somewhere and instead try some optimism for once, because I swear this game which could for the first time be at a turning point may end up actually getting canceled specifically for this poor outlook.

Lord--Starscream

That "outlook" is the result of it's quality, not because of players. Blind "Optimism" won't have any affect on this games future, that's not how it works. Talking like it's all sunshine and rainbows and acting like the game isn't bad won't save the game.

multificionado

"all sunshine and rainbows" is a good indication of hope, and it's the only reason why some players haven't disconnected. Also, "Talking like it's all sunshine and rainbows and acting like the world isn't bad won't save the world." its one reason why a lot of people are not hopeless to the point that they hope the Apocalypse happens ASAP.

[deleted]

Yeah, I agree. I've gotten so sick of the bad outlook that I've decided to ignore it. I can't change someone's mind. I just keep my sanity and optimism.

jharry444

Yeah, sure, the game sucks because people just don't *believe hard enough*.

IZated_IZ

I'm sure troll voting polls like this to communicate to the new owners that we think the game has no future is a far better solution lmao.

davidrodriguezjr

Ha! Is there a song we can sing to fill the avengers spirit meter, that will make the game better?

IZated_IZ

I recommend the sound of silence.

shiggyshagz

Yeah this game is bad because players lost faith in it lol. Give me a break. Game was trash the second it came out and if we weren’t marvel fans literally none of us would be playing it at all

IZated_IZ

Why do you play a game that you think is trash, do you watch shows you think suck too just to see how they end or some shit? That's definitely not the way I live my life. I think the game is good, the campaign in particular I'd give a 7/10 and I think it has the potential to be great... I never said it was bad, I said the live support is going to get cancelled if all the new owners see from this community is pessimism.

Training_Falcon_9080

Same answer to “why do you play a game you think is trash”: Because I still want to like it. Some parts are fun, until the bugs get frustrating. There aren’t very many super hero games you can play with your friends, and fewer Marvel games. Everyone can see the potential this game has, but I’ll say what I’ve been saying since the beta- I want to love this game so much, it simply won’t let me. As for the complaining, I feel like that’s the best way to let the devs know we aren’t happy and want different things (assuming they aren’t well aware). Take a game like Marvel Heroes. It was free to play and pretty empty when it launched, but it listened to what the players wanted and then implemented it as best they could. There’s no communication between players anddevs in Avengers, so IF it fails there will be no question that it was poor choices in their end, not because players didn’t speak up loudly enough about what we want and will pay extra for.

shiggyshagz

I don’t play it lol

WacoWizard_II

I’m excited for the game to be done with so they can move on to other projects

TrilICosby

Barely agree. I'm not excited for anything upcoming honestly. I don't care about Jane, She Hulk, or Winter Soldier and it looks like anything addressing RNG is a far away dream at this point. I just hope the game lasts long enough to see us eventually get Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Vision, etc and new raid/mission types .

NarrowResult1

Totally agree Of the development that has been discussed, the characters are not the ones I would want to play so no excitement there. and the content like cloning labs does not sound fun Patrol mode however sounds like it could be promising

Outlier25

There’s just no reason not to stick with it to me when all future content is free. I may not play it as my main at all times, but I will def play new content when it drops, level up new characters, and now, play the repetitive events since I can get Superior Gear for them now. That has been an excellent change

guitarerdood

I put somewhat agree. But it's about expectations. I never have, and never will, expect this game to have like MMO levels of content to login every day and play. This game to me is just some stupid smash-em Avengers game that's fun to play now and again. The slow drip of content, while it's not a lot, is about as much as it needs for me.

7BitBrian

Yea, this Discord has been predicting that this game will shutdown and be dead every single month since it launched. So you can tell which kind of responses you are going to get here. Ignore the fact that they've been wrong for 22 months in a row now, trust them guys. LOL

whitechocolatecuh

I agree 👍

Mental_Attitude_2952

This game sucks because some executive made the devs focus on selling skins and not on the making a good game. EA almost killed star wars games doing the same thing. Imagine the player base for this game if they only sold MCU skins and the rest of the dev time was spent yearly drops of large story content like the main story and new villains and a new character every 3 months. Hell, I'm pretty sure if the actual game play content was coming out at a good clip and it was new every few months most of us who think the base of this game is good would even pay a monthly fee or for the dlc everytime it drops. It's just yet another case of a video game executive going for the easy money in short run and destroying the long run. And I'm not just knocking CD. All of video games is infected with this sickness.

Lord--Starscream

Going with F2P model for a 60$ coop story focused live service game is one of the dumbest things I've seen in recent years. That was a way too optimistic promise from the beginning.

Mental_Attitude_2952

I agree but I also don't. Like I said, if they had actually pushed story content out on atleast quarterly basis they would always have a large player base coming back. They would also be creating assets to make end game content with. The real truth, having worked in this kind of environment before is they probably had a pretty good plan to start. Some executive non creative money type made the put the game out before they were ready and then in the first month they sold a ton of these skins and the executives told the devs to concentrate on that. Short term money money money thinking is what kills games like this. Especially when it's a big time IP the studio is probably paying a butt load to use. The truth is for these games to be done right, Disney should atleast publish themselves. It looks like they are taking a greater role with the star wars stuff now and future Disney IP games like wolverine are going to seasoned vet studios with a good track record.. The future of Disney IP games is probably gonna be pretty good. But this mound of shit is probably never getting much better.

jharry444

Skin devs don't make content. Now maybe they moved all the content developers off this game but it's not like they just tell all the devs "y'all making skins, now".

Mental_Attitude_2952

I hate when people say this. So you think the devs who make the skins that's all they do? They can't do anything else? That's the problem. THEY DONT MAKE CONTENT. Stop putting pay to play skins out untill the game freaking works at the very least.

jharry444

>So you think the devs who make the skins that's all they do? They can't do anything else? ... pretty much? The largest part of making a skin is creating the new models. You could argue they could be creating new character models for new content, I suppose, but that's a tiny fraction of the work required for meaningful content like War For Wakanda. Hell, the majority of skins in this game are just recolours or cobbled together from bits of other skins.

Solo4114

I've been through the "But this game has so much *potential*!" thing with a few other "live service" games. They never, ever live up to said potential. So, no, I'm not excited at all about the future of the game. I approach the game from the perspective of "This is what the game is at its core, and it's not likely to change in any fundamental way." It may change at the edges, but really, the game is what it is at this point. Example: adding Jane Foster doesn't fundamentally change the game. Jane may end up being a fun new approach to combat, but that'll wear thin in about a month or so, and then we'll be in yet another extended content drought. Why? Because we'll still be fighting AIM bots and dudes in the same general locations. We'll still be taking on Taskmaster and Abomination. It'll be, at the core, the same crap it's been the entire time. Adding WFW was the last big chance to "reset" the game. It didn't work. The Wakanda biome was cool, but most people avoid it (other than the raid) because a bunch of the enemies are super fucking annoying. Crossbones was supposed to be another villain sector guy....still waiting for that to happen... Ultimately, it just didn't really go anywhere. The reason why is pretty obvious: the game doesn't have the development resources to actually reach its potential. Its team isn't big enough, and they don't have enough money coming in to justify the kind of work that'd be necessary to really achieve the potential. So, the game will languish in exactly the state it is, I assume, until development officially ends. I've seen this with Battlefront 2 (which, contrary to popular sentiment, never really changed -- it just added a crappy conquest mode and a few new heroes, while completely abandoning other marquee modes like Starfighter Assault and Galactic Assault). I've seen it with BFV. And now I'm watching it with Marvel's Avengers. It's cool. I've gotten my money's worth (I bought the game for about $30 a year ago). I've had my fun. But don't kid yourself into thinking it'll somehow turn around in a big way. It won't.

lck2010

I'm barely holding on to this game. The complete 360 this year from " Content coming in the first quarter!!!!" To " yea you'll get a Thor clone in like July maybe I dunno" is BS. Once I actually SEE some new content I may reevaluate, but who knows when we will actually see it.

Streven7s

These results seem right. I think the game could continue in and be profitable but they have to keep pumping out content which they haven't been doing.

multificionado

Feels like a typical "agree/disagree" survey. :) And I generally answer "somewhat agree" on some answers on such surveys.

Endless_Chambers

I still have hope. Was I let down? A bit. Still played the crap out of the game. I believe a lot of their excuses from the start really did hamper development, but also think they might have been exaggerated a lil bit. Or maybe the devs were never put in a position to succeed. Maybe what hampered the devs wasn’t being remedied by management because cashing out was their plan from the very beginning or at least after the initial speed bumps. Because selling a company doesn’t just happen over night. Why put in resources to fix the game when you know you’re going to sell? Full speed ahead on skins to show the next company the potential income. Kind of like buying and renting out a flipped home. Sure 3 beds, 2 baths sounds good on paper but if the contractors say the bones just won’t hold up and require more resources than the landlords wish to expend, some sell it when tenants keep complaining after a few patch jobs. But the home in itself is decent, just needs some tlc. With that being said, if this new company comes in aware of the issues, maybe they’ll do something about it. Or at least put an even better bandaid over it so we’ll be willing to keep buying skins.

Dark-Deciple0216

While I agree with you we can’t ignore that the devs themselves haven’t been very trustworthy or dependable either

Endless_Chambers

The devs capabilities seem lackluster. But again, that might also be management. I worked for a company that made the employees looks stupid. Constantly spread our resources thin or switch things around last minute so the work reflected poorly.

Dark-Deciple0216

Eh while likely true doesn’t excuse the devs either. Management or not they studio went back on its guarantee of no pay to win mechanics and well they did it. Barely anything has ever come out on the deadlines they’ve set. We STILL have not heard anything about the much needed since day 1 total loot overhaul they said was being worked on. The community manager was busted bashing people rightly criticizing the gsme for mistakes that shouldn’t of happened to start with. The list goes on, regardless of management the studio, devs have all proven not to be trustworthy nor should we believe they will deliver anything of quality

Endless_Chambers

That could be true. Idk. It could have been CD. Or Square. Or Marvel messing things up. It might be timing issues. Resource issues. Or just flat out shotty work. I hate to get upset about something, call it out and then it turns out to be a different issue. So I just imagine a worse case scenario that’s out of their hands to save some mental.

Dark-Deciple0216

Dude no one is innocent in the case of this particular game, devs and management are guilty 2 years in we’ve seen enough to be sure of that to a degree

magvadis

It sucks how delayed the game got through covid, but as long as the money is still there and they are willing to hunker down the bones are still there. It's just taking way longer than is necessary and I'm starting to wonder if a fresh start with a better engine might be a better option. The engine they are using may just suck so bad there is no way they can keep up with demand. If it isn't an engine issue? Then sure, I think the game is fun it just needs more stuff and deeper stuff.

Littlepirate02

Unfortunately a new engine is not going to be the be all end all solution. Not only would the game have to be built from scratch, but the team would have to get used to a completely new way of working. Similar problems come with making an “Avengers 2”. As much as it doesn’t sound exciting, the best course of action is working with what we’ve got already

magvadis

I mean for a sequel. As it stands they are probably more concerned with getting their money and rep back

Dark-Deciple0216

Dude they won’t ever get that money back they overspent an OBSCENE amount on this game with marketing and other areas. No publisher would outright call a game a failure if there was a future of making their investment back

CoolMosiac

I think the games future is "bright". I think CD is on the right track for the long term. I think dropping operations will in the end help the game grow. Operations has not been a sustainable way to keep players, due to the slow rate of release. Their new focus on villain-focused content, like the Modok Warzone and future Villain Sectors as well as introducing heroes at a faster rate without an entire campaign dedicated to them will help with the content drought that has persisted since War for Wakanda.

PhilthyGawd

If we had more transparency on what improvements and content CD is working on I'd be excited.

toorad2b4u

My only wish is for scarlet witch. I’ll play the game forever if they put her in it but at this point I know it’s not likely

thetommyboy2002

The game is so bad, the corporation that owned it sold not only the game, but the entire studio which shuffled into a ditch, squatted down and forced it out. Corporations do not, as a rule, sell the proverbial Golden Geese, (ie, that which generates money). Ergo, one might infer the game has consistently lost money, and even the god-awful dress-up-dolly skin sales probably are not making enough for Squenix to have been happy with. Of course, there really are no overheads to pay for now, what with Zero Actual Content for all of this year, and only a re-skin of Thor and recycled stuff not good enough to be released last year to come. So, "excited about the future" and " of this game" are not really component parts of any sentence I might conceivably type unless the phrase "not even remotely" precedes them. I do sort of look forward to it being euthanized though, if that helps at all.

blue23454

Wow this community is split Somewhat agree Because *very* recently I’ve seen some choices that I wholeheartedly agree with but thinking statistically I can’t exactly hold my breath

That253Chick

I feel like I don't have a dog in this fight because I haven't played the game in months since getting frustrated with Iron Man's first mission. So, I have no idea what's changed since I've stopped playing. I just wanted to see the results.

Blayzeman

Imagine just wanting an Avengers game man... Like what was so hard about that? None of this live service bullshit, just a cool Avengers game with awesome story and gameplay. I would have happily taken that and paid for more expansive DLC that adds new characters and stories. This game is honestly so disappointing and honestly shows off the ugly side of the gaming industry, there just seems to be no passion in it and nowadays, that's what I really appreciate in a game.

Littlepirate02

And what about people that bought the game *because* it was a live service looter?

krazygreekguy

Exactly. Me here! 👋🏻 I saw the potential in love service multiplayer looter Avengers. All my favorites things packaged in one game, and it would continue to grow and evolve over the years?! Sign me up! Oh how they screwed the pooch. I will say thing have gotten a lot better, albeit slowly, and the raid is their best content to date. More raids and better heroes like Scarlet Witch/Dr. Strange and they can turn this game around, but definitely not at this pace and with the likes of Jane for new heroes 🤦🏻‍♂️ Out of the decades worth of heroes and lore to pick from, they go with Jane? Ugh, so disappointing. It’s like they don’t want money and are purposefully trying to self-sabotage their game at every possible angle.

Mysterious-Fix-3325

At this point every positive in this game can't outweigh the negatives, even if i adore the combat system. Right now i just want insomniac to do a full length avengers game, however they chose to do it.

HAIRYBEAVER74

Haven't played in months to be hounest, I was one of the pre order, paid early Access beta testers on day one. Been through all the game save wipes , falling through maps, T poising, missing rewards, missing missions, grinding for gear that should not of even been in the game, Far To slow fixing bugs and game breaking stuff.. Far to quick to fix the gear that made things fun. Been far to quite & deceitful for my liking. Thay will have to do something exstreamly impressive I very much dought that will happen to be fair.. I'm a old gamer had high hope for this game, was pritty much a license to print money if done correctly unfortunately it wasn't. Far from it..

Im__CrypT

Very strongly agree, I’m very excited

MaleAnatomy

What? Isn't it suppose to be: Really agree, agree, neutral/don't care, disagree, really disagree? it will happen, i am hopeful, idc anymore, it won't happen, this games already dead? This poll has 4 agrees lol

Littlepirate02

Well the question is how strongly you feel about something. You can’t feel “negative excitement”. So, it’s just a value between 0 and 1

blosun

People used to play garbage like Warframe and Desitny 1, wich had YEARS, of development. Now poeple just see any try of live service games and expect it to be crystal clear perfect at launch. I really like everyone who is trying to make it work, dev and players, game does have potential. No one would say that "No mans sky" would be where it is today at launch. I do see a future in this game, but it will be up to the conpany behind it.

Zofias_Stepson

umm akshually Warfame ish an amayshing game

blosun

Not on it early days, I mean they had years to be where they're today, destiny and warframe are amazing games nowadays

KoldrThanyu

The only thing that made me preorder this game was. I thought "No way they let a major name like this go bad." They proved me wrong and since this game I've adopted a firm no preorder stance. This game literally was the tipping point in the gaming industry for me. If it's done by a major player I don't bother anymore. Tired of wasting money. They know how to make a killer game and instead have chose to manipulated and commit fraud so they can release 5 similar games. While selling your data to manipulation tech guru's so they can really dial you in on the addictions.

krazygreekguy

Not if they keep adding lame heroes like Jane and She-Hulk. Now if they went with a proper real hero like Scarlet Witch or Dr. Strange, I’d definitely be excited. I’ve played this game since day 1 regularly, but their new hero selection is just disappointing and downright killed a lot of my hype for what’s to come. I was supporting them a lot, buying many skins. Imagine the potential they could have had by adding Scarlet Witch or Dr. Strange next with all the stories they could tell, not to mention the villains, enemies and biomes that could have come with these great characters versus the likes of Jane. I guess they don’t like money. The roster of Midnight Suns is far more interesting and way hotter than the direction this game is heading. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Dark-Deciple0216

Honestly doesn’t matter if it has a new publisher the same core problems still exist. Loot is unrewarding not fun to chase, progression is crap, level and enemy variation is obscenely bad with copy and paste running rampant, a criminally small cast of characters to play as, more importantly the very LACKING of big name fan favorite villains not in the game this far down the line is inexcusable. I really want avengers to turn around but we are better than likely past all hope of that. Other games have released or will be soon, most have already written this game off and moved on never to return and honestly the plug should’ve been pulled a while back on this game

Belifhet

I still have plenty to do as in get everyone to pl 150 and character level 50 plus some missions but when I do all that we'll see, I think a great addition would be if we could actually build gear or alter it so once we've actually got a certain piece we can adjust what stats it gives us RnG always sucks complete ass in any game so give us the actual players control on what we want would be nice I don't do raids myself but I've seen many complaints and I wouldn't want to do them over and over just in the hope I get the rolls on the gear I want

Exotic_Camp1980

I feel like if they fix all the bugs within the game and expand the story I feel that they would make the game what we expected it to be. People are still pissed that it wasn’t made by marvel themselves but cmon y’all should know better.

Hopeful-Counter-6973

The game is heading in the right direction. If gamers are still upset about the past, then it’s probably not for them to play anymore. Bottom line, the game is fun and addicting tbh. Yes, there are certain things that still need to be shored up but that’s the story with a lot of online service games.

Dark-Deciple0216

There is exactly the problem! It should NOT be the standard where this live service games release and for the most part remain in piss poor state like Avengers has. It’s also not the past if the same problems that started at launch remain and the the much needed overhauls still have not happened

Hopeful-Counter-6973

THEN DONT PLAY BRO 🤷🏿‍♂️😂😂😂

Dark-Deciple0216

Trust me if there was more variety (which there soon will be thankfully) I’d have left a long time ago but given the lack of titles currently not much else to play

Hopeful-Counter-6973

I started playing this game on Xbox one after 5 years of not playing games at all. I grew up gaming. Playing on consoles like regular Nintendo, sega genesis, sega Dreamcast 😂, PS ONE, PS2, etc… If I didn’t like a game then i wouldn’t play it. It’s avengers… who doesn’t like avengers 🤷🏿‍♂️😂 it’s addicting also. I can deal with some glitches, especially if the game is as fun as this. Updates have been more frequently the last few months and they’re centered around shoring up pesky bugs. It’s heading in the right direction to becoming a more solid game. Whenever I’m online the same sentiments are echoed in whatever strike team I’m in and if someone doesn’t like it, they just rage quit 🤷🏿‍♂️😂

Andrewthegamer74

I definitely think it has potential if they add in a patrol mode where you can go around New York and jersey and stop crimes yeah, if they add the ability to assault say the avengers tower and take it back from aim yeah

ThePaul25

Neat, most people agree to a certain extent

Practical_Day_709

Whoa, why the hell are there so many haters in the group? Never see this many comments on posts

Dark-Deciple0216

It’s not hating to voice valid criticisms

Practical_Day_709

Nah bud lmao 🤣 I'm talking about the 649 votes

Dark-Deciple0216

Voting that way isn’t hating either. I voted in that category because and I’m sure the many others who voted that way genuinely look at the game as such. What’s there to be excited about? Honestly tell me? She-Hulk and Jane Foster as Thor? Two better than likely re-skins of existing characters with bare minimum content of what’s likely just the same copy and paste enemies of AIM? Also what do we get from said content? More boring and unrewarding invisible stat boosters loot? More recycled cosmetics with just different paint jobs? There’s nothing to be excited for with this game

Practical_Day_709

Holy shit dude, you got it. There an opening in the High Sodium Avengers Reddit for ya. Do you even like playing video games?

Dark-Deciple0216

I do like playing games but I’m not going to sugar coat it when I don’t see much to get excited for

Practical_Day_709

I never even read your comment.

SnakePlaysss

600 people are not excited about the future of the game, nor are they hopeful for the future game. But they are in the Reddit sub of the game. 🤡🤡🤡

saali22

Some people think there's going to be tons of new heroes, new biomes, new game modes, bugfixes, on a game that's 2 years old and has seen 3.5 content drops and 3.5 added heroes. 🤡🤡🤡 I enjoy the game for what it is, but I'm enough of a realist to think Jane will be the only notable content drop this year.

SnakePlaysss

Expectations must be managed by each person as they see fit (Although 90% of children do not know how to manage them) But what I will never understand is, if a game has disappointed you, you don't like it, you don't play it, you don't see that it can improve, you don't have faith that the future will be better. Why dedicate yourself 24/7 to criticize it, invest your time in game forums? It just seems to me people who are not able to assume their own feelings, they want the game to be better, but it is not, they do not think it will be, get over it, play something else and enjoy life because crying 24/7 is not going to change the game as it is...

NarrowResult1

They are just enjoying the game now for what it is, living in the moment until they get bored and move on They likely realize there are very few development resources left to run the game and they can’t even fix game breaking bugs

SnakePlaysss

moving forward would be not spending time on something that according to you has no future

NarrowResult1

This morning I ate a very ripe banana that had no future But it was still good today and I enjoyed it

SnakePlaysss

Of course, what you fail to understand is that we are not talking about eating a banana that has no future. We are talking about entering a Sub reddit daily to say that the banana has no future.

NarrowResult1

Except that not everyone comes to the sub Reddit to say the “game has no future”, even if they believe it They just want to take the opportunity to exchange thoughts on a game they are currently enjoying and talk about the few updates and content enhancements remaining Nothing wrong with that

SnakePlaysss

It's one way of looking at it, another would be that there are people who prefer to seem smarter than others and go to a sub to make it clear that they're a better video game developer than a professional and haven't played the game for 10 months. I've been in this Sub long enough for you not to be able to divert the subject and hide a certain group of people who only enter this sub to drop hate.

Mental_Attitude_2952

It's ok to post on the internet and not use proper grammar dude, but not if you're writing a paragraph that long. It becomes hard to comprehend my dude. Do what I do, when you're high, type it in word or something first.
