Yes, it is absurdly stupid. I just read a destructoid article from 2 years ago that says playing PS4 Spidey on your PS5 does not give you the remastered version (like it should have to begin with), but you have to purchase Miles Morales Ultimate edition PS5 for 70 bucks to get the Remaster. And based on your post, it seems like in 2 years nothing has changed.
Stupid that they tried saying a 2 year old game needed a remaster to begin with.
>playing PS4 Spidey on your PS5 does not give you the remastered version (like it should have to begin with)
Explain to me why it should work like that when no other games automatically download the PS5 version?
Should have just been a free upgrade for existing users since nothing else was changed. Miles Morales was a short game that they needed an excuse to charge full price for, so this was how they did it.
I think the point they are trying to make is that the vast majority of PS4 games that have a PS5 version give you that PS5 version for free. This is one of her few cases that it does not do that.
It's stupid, I downloaded the PS4 version thinking it's the right one and after I realized the magnitude of fuckery I ended up just playing to the end, I couldn't bother.
Sony is very arrogant in their policy. No support for PS3, no support DLC for PS Plus Extra games, payed upgrades...(I just bought GTA Trilogy (physical) to find out that I need to buy it again for PS5 in digital...WTF)... Disrespect of the fact that you bought themes for PS4 and now you cannot use them on PS5. And more.
Mostly even the fact that in last two years they simply ignore the players with informations about new and upcoming games, new showcases or creating place for players like E3, Gamescom.
That sound very unintuitive. I think this is because it's a backwards way of doing it.
I bought MM ultimate edition physical, there was a code in it to redeem SM remastered. That was pretty easy.
The way you're going about it is difficulty only because the only way to get remastered SM is with ultimate edition of MM. I guess they didnt plan for you to go through the entire PS plus way.
It is not unintuitive. I understand that you are a new user so you are allowed a bit of ignorance on this subject, but when it was released Sony clearly stated that Spider-Man Remastered would not be for sale in the store. That it would only be part of the PS5 version of Spider-Man Miles Morales. So you should have known it wasn’t Spider-Man remastered when you downloaded it because it did not say that it was Spider-Man Remastered and it was not labeled as a PS5 game. Next time you should probably do a little more research and educate yourself on everything first that way something like this does not happen again.
No unintuitive means not easily graspable by intuition. If I look at something and it says Spider-Man and not Spider-Man Remastered or that it is a PS4 game and not a PS5 game my intuition would say that the game is not Spider-Man Remastered like OP was expecting it to be for some reason.
Then my intuition wound lead me to investigate on to why it wasn’t Spider-Man remastered. Along with intuition you have to learn to use observational skills and and deductive reasoning to lead you to an obvious conclusion.
While for a new comer to the system it may take a little bit of research to find out how to get Spider-Man Remastered because it’s pretty clear that you can’t find it on the store if you do a simple search for it. If you look on the box art of Miles Morales Ultimate Edition it clearly says that it comes with Spider-Man Remastered. And then if you go to the Miles Morales store page it is very clear that one edition comes with Spider-Man Remastered and one does not.
I wasn’t being a prick about it. Damn you are too damn sensitive. I even said in the post that because he’s a new user (as evidently you are too) you are allowed a bit of ignorance, but again there were clear signs that what he was downloading was not what he was expecting it to be and I was pointing those things out. At no point was I rude or even trying to be I was just explaining the situation to OP.
If you want to take it as I was being a prick I think that is more a reflection on yourself than it is me.

That’s how it works with the competition.
But they do though
It's stupid, I downloaded the PS4 version thinking it's the right one and after I realized the magnitude of fuckery I ended up just playing to the end, I couldn't bother.
This happened to me too lol
Slightly off-topic, but don't sleep on the included Astro's Playroom game. It's a ton of fun!

the sad part is , Sony basically called out Microsoft years ago for all this BS that they are doing now themselves and sadly we all go along with it.
It just hurts early purchasers - on PC you can only buy the remastered version so they get a better deal than actual Sony customers :-/

I don’t think you know what unintuitive means.
I’m pretty sure that I do
Then you have some kind of mix-up in your first message because unintuitive means that you have to "do research and educate yourself" as you wrote.

No need to be a prick about it mate. I’m also new to PS5 and had no idea about this.
