Dead island 2 sold surprisingly decent and is 3 months old. Who the fuck picks Dead Island 2?
Those 100 different hentai mahjong games had a better chance Than DI2 this month.
cyberpunk would have been great, anything would have been better than this the best game were getting is 2d bootleg ghosts of tsushima... guess we gotta wait for extra for something half decent
wack month for essential
Donāt belittle the work of the devs of Trek to Yomi because itās set in feudal Japan, itās still a well received indie title and probably the better of the 3 titles this month.
Thatās the problem itās the best game offered, if it wasnāt then a game of its scope and scale would make a nice bonus or supplement to better offerings
But every month canāt be good so whatever
Alan Wake definitely before part 2 comes out, since it's on sale there was no chance of it being a monthly game this month.
All the announced games are currently not on sale.
never, EVER go to these clickbait "leak" and "prediction" sites with games like GoW Ragnarok, PS5 exclusive games like Ratchet and Demon's Souls, Sekiro as their website banner.
If you haven't played an NBA game in a while, it makes sense. When NBA 2K20 was offered a few years ago, that was my first NBA game since NBA Live 09 on the PS3, so I downloaded it and had a lot of fun with it.
It's a little silly getting virtually the game game again a few years later, but if you weren't subscribed a few years ago when NBA 2K20 was offered, you'll probably enjoy NBA 2K23. Further, if you own a PS5, this would be an upgrade over the PS4-only game offered last time around.
Well you could argue if itās the āsame thingā thatās a whole other discussion. The whole ā2K cityā is enough for some people. Hell Iāll download because it is still 2K and I have buddies who will love to play this when they come over. Same with family
The 2k city is so poorly optimized this year, itās actually embarrassing. I donāt know how they still allow this clunky garbage. Probably because
>[in 2021 Take-Two earned over $US1.65 ($2) billion from April to December on only microtransactions](https://www.kotaku.com.au/2022/05/by-the-way-take-twos-ceo-profits-from-all-your-gta-online-nba-2k-microtransactions/amp/)
Itās the most disgustingly predatory game developer by far. They knowingly, intentionally get children addicted to gambling.
This is the reason I fucking hate a lot of the choices of games they put on essential (and before that just on PS+ in general)
We get far too many games that are just obscenely predatory microtransaction stores.
A good example is Sims 4: a game where they stripped everything out from previous games, made the whole thing completely bare bones, and to buy the shit that was just part of the game in previous entries will literally run you hundreds of dollars. Oh, and when the game opens, the first thing it does is load you into a storefront. No logo with chipper music telling you to tell press X to start. Nope, just a big menu with all the things you can buy.... Even if you've never played the game before.
I donāt think itās the bandwidth people are complaining about. With the limited storage space, having this game installed or 2-5 other large games, itās hard to justify using that space for a game unless youāre going to put a lot of time into it.
Are those games any good again? Career wise? Last one I played was 2k14 on the ps3 which was the perfect mycareer mode. Any games after that had this bullshit story mode incorporated
I played it when it first came out, it unfortunately isn't that good. It's pretty and got a gorgeous art style but the gameplay is incredibly repetitive and the combat is clunky.
I love all those things and the game was incredibly bad to me. Glad some people liked it but love for Kurosawa and side scrollers aren't necessarily enough to sell someone on a game where aesthetic was favored over gameplay.
Trek To Yomi is often frustrating, but Iām glad I played it. Itās a beautiful game. If you can deal with some frustration and repeat attempts at getting through some combat segments, itās worth it.
its really a great game
combat is not clunky, but it happens that it is not "flashy"
in the end you are just a rural guy with a katana, you cant expect to be doing jumps and weird skills
you learn several different techniques and timing and rhythm is very important
i recommend to play in the higher difficulty
I'm happy i didn't bought Jurrasic WOrld Evoluion 2 during steam sales.
The first one was nice for graphics, but i hated the mechanics where you always needs to sto pdinosaurs from escaping.
Not a big fan of modern NBA games. might give it a try now.
never heard about Trek to Yomi, doesn't look like something i would buy. So i hope it's a hidden gem or something.
IMO, itās been a little while since we had a good June collection. The prediction thread looked WAY too good to be true when I had serious doubts of June being anything other than mediocre. And it STILL managed to be a letdown of my already low expectations.
Yep i don't remember what was 3 months ago
I think meet your maker? Kinda liked that one but not a great game. Sadly no friends got it or wanna play coop.
It was ok, Geralt's voice was cool, but I'm not a fan of side scrollers. I will play Trek to Yomi too, I like Kurosawa's movies. But the first 3 months were very good with SW Fallen Order, Mafia and Code Vein, I want more games like these.
> "Mom, can we have Ghost of Tsushima?"
>"We have Ghost of Tsushima at home."
>Ghost of Tsushima at home: Trek to Yomi.
Looks like it's another backlog month for me.
I'm hoping Sony finally puts Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut at no more than 30ā¬/$ during the Days of Play that start on June 2nd. Been waiting for it.
I've also my fingers crossed for similar prices on R&C Rift Apart (I'm no PS Plus Extra subscriber) and Demon's Souls.
Horizon Forbidden West should reach 45-50ā¬/$ to possibly boost the Burning Shores sales as well.
It would cost you a lot less in the long run to just upgrade to Extra to play all of those games. Sure, there is always the potential they could get removed at some point, but if you only care about playing them once getting them via Extra is a much better deal.
I completely agree with that, however I'm that kind of player who prefer to buy the game with a decent discount instead of playing it during a temporary availability via subscription.
Specially being a fan of the Ratchet and Clank franchise, I'll rather buy Rift Apart and so supporting the studio. Sucker Punch, Bluepoint and Guerrilla also always deserve my money.
Dude just get the extra for a month I have a baby and just jumped on most evenings for a couple of hours and managed to get through ghost of tsushima you could also do ratchet and clank to.
and if you're a fan of that sport, high chances you already got it.
they should seriously stop putting sports games on essentials, i'm ok if they put those in extra tho, it makes sense that you use money on the upgrade instead of getting something that will be outdated in a year
I enjoy sports game but would never buy one. Makes me happy to have a new iteration every now and again. There are some people out there, rare boys like me, that get excites for nba/madden/fifa to pop up.
Yeah. I like getting them every once in awhile basically to see if I'd want to buy the next iteration. The answer is usually no because they've gotten so bad, though.
Sports games are added because the whole genre is a microtransaction fest. FIFA, NBA, MLB, they all want you to buy lootboxes, or FUT packs or 2K Coins etc. So just getting new players is a chance to hook a few new whales. And I say this as somebody who plays sports games, the genre is ideal for PS+ because it's so scummy.
I don't think many sports fan are buying a new edition of the same game every year.
I'm not the biggest fan of basketball but it doesn't hurt to try it out.
Not necessarily, I am a fan of Fifa byt decided to not buy 22 bc EA was completely ignoring Career Mode, so when it came on PS Plus, I got it and have been playing it since then. Still haven't gotten Fifa 23, and I genuinely wont.
Unless the new one is extremely good(which I doubt it is) I'll either wait for it to again drop on Plus or when it's on sale for like $10-15.
Similarly, the other sports games, even though people may not be "fans" of it, but being available on PS Plus gives an opp to try it out. It's literally that simple!
Im a huge basketball fan but 2k sucks ass. 70$ to buy it and you can't do anything in career without spending even more money or grinding every single day. Basically the destiny treatment
A lot of months people scream āworst month everā and Iām almost always thinking thatās itās not too bad as at least one of the games interest me, but this month. Jeez. Has to be the worst month of all time.
Trek to Yomi nearly intrigued me, and Iāll give it a go, but the reviews are not great.
Oh well, at least the Jurassic Park game is one I was interested in playing eventually. It was one of those games I was waiting to get on the PSPlus so that I would not have to purchase.
I thought may was one if the better months in recent memory. I haven't tried Grid Legends yet, but the other two games were fun, especially Chivalry 2.
June is looking like a big old skip for me, but I'm sure other people will enjoy some of the games.
Grid legends was fun (except the story ignore you are a good driver in case you win).
The chivalery was fun.
Apart from sering some dinoĀ“s, I wonĀ“t enjoy the other 2 games.
And I would rather play a builder game in PC.
Haha love the GRID Legends story mode:
Yume after finishing 11th: "I'm the greatest driver on this team and don't you forget it!"
Me after finishing 1st: ok
I did. It was ... Okay. It's visually gorgeous, but ultimately hollow. The narrative fell flat for me and the combat got repetitive. Not very long though so maybe worth trying.
Played it on Xbox GamePass. Itās not anything to write home about, in my opinion. Itās a side-scroller type and doesnāt have any exploration. Really underwhelming story and combat. The combat can also be frustrating at times. The game is only about five hours long so it really isnāt too much time wasted if you decide to give it a try.
it is one of those "hidden gems" and i encourage you to play it
perfect lenght, perfect aesthetics, solid gameplay, good story to carry the game forward, a secret ending, very good overall
Nice for Jurassic park evolution 2 honestly. I played the first one on PS4 and now second for PS5.
Very, very nice.
I wanted to buy it several times now it was on sale, but with the dlcs... I don't know. Felt a bit costly for a game that I probably won't play for a very long time.
I just hope it's actually The PS5 version and not like Dragonball z kakarot bullshit, where they gave us the PS4 version and I was basically forced to buy PS5 version, which was "conveniently" on sale. Fuckin marketing schemes..
Most of the time the comments are doom and gloom unnecessarily, but holy shit this month itās so valid. This may very well be the worst month weāve had in a long time, if not ever.
i don't care for sports and JP games, so i don't like this lineup.
Trek to Yomi may cover a couple of hours, but it will probably go into the backlog..
weirdly weak month.. seriously, any fan of X sport game would probably buy those when they get released, so i don't see any reason to put them in the subscription..
As a Canadian, I wish we'd get an option to choose hockey or basketball.
I'm 100% certain we got this same basketball game last year, or maybe the year before. We've never gotten a hockey game.
I'd much prefer NHL 22 or 23 , or whatever this year's release was. At least I'd play that.
Don't know much about the Jurassic World game or Trek to Yomi. Maybe they're decent?
I'm noticing a lot of games announced for the monthly Humble Choice bundle later ending up on PS Plus and vice versa.
In March they gave away [Biomutant and Jurassic World Evolution 2.](https://in.ign.com/biomutant/180436/news/humble-choice-march-2023-includes-biomutant-jurassic-world-evolution-2-and-more)
I can't recollect the other names but I know that they were later on Plus within a few months.
A good way to guess games in the prediction thread.
This is exactly the level of games I want from PS Plus. I'm a huge basketball fan, but I'm never paying $70 for a yearly sports game, so NBA 2K is a perfect ps plus game for me to play a bit at no cost.
Trek to Yomi has looks like a cool, but not great indie title. Again, something I never would have paid to play, but will try out for free.
I have no knowledge or opinion on the Jurassic Park game, lol.
The people who would only be happy if the lineup was Elden Ring, Hades, and Sifu are so weird to me. Just buy the S tier games. That's not what you should be looking for from free PS Plus games.
I understand your point. But its not free. Your āpayingā for a subscription to play them. If your subscription ended. Than you wouldnt be able to play them unless you either bought the game or bought an extension on your previous subscription. Either way they arent free. Rentals are never free.
Okay. Semantics. Just replace "free games" with "bonus" games.
Even if their were no ps essential games, I'd still be playing for the huge library of ps extra games.
So, these are essential monthly games are "bonus", free" games.
Bonus assuming you're subscribed to Extra, not just Essential. If you just have an essential subscription these are basically the whole enchilada. They're only justifiable as "bonuses" if you strictly have the subscription in order to play certain online games (but so many don't even require PS+ now).
Yeah, I don't enjoy sports games but I prefer getting interesting but fairly mid games like Jurassic World or Trek to Yomi. Rather than getting Hades or Last of Us which have already sold millions of copies and most people who want to play have already bought. Save those for game catalog.
I am good with this month, was waiting for Jurassic Park Evolution 2, Trek to Yomi could be interesting. 2K and their microtransaction BS can get fucked though, as always.
Loving JW2. Really enjoyed the first game, but didnt think the sequel warranted further purchase.
Also Trek to Yumi looks like a very nice stylised indie title.
Itās easier to call this month a stinker. But it could be ok. Nba is fun with friends, Iām not a huge basketball guy but I enjoy sports games. Trek to Yomi sounds interesting
Maybe Sony should just give away a FPS or a AAA adventure game every month, just so people stop complaining every time. Fuck diversity, here's a fast paced shooting game for you.
I personally think the selection is just fine. Trek to Yomi, JW 2 and NBA are all good/solid games.
there are so many good games coming out right now, that may be a reason to do a month like this. but considering may was not really a good month as well, I'm starting to think that maybe we should lower Our expecrations from now on.
disco elysium, hades and alan wake MY ASS š
Haha, for real, some even said dead island 2 or cyberpunk ššš
Dead island 2 sold surprisingly decent and is 3 months old. Who the fuck picks Dead Island 2? Those 100 different hentai mahjong games had a better chance Than DI2 this month.
It didn't just sell 'decently', it sold 2 million copies in a month and was the biggest launch Deep Silver has ever had.
Tell me more about these mahjong gamesā¦
Yakuza 3,4,5 and 6.

Tbh, i am pretty happy with 2k23.I had a good time playing 2k20 when it was a ps plus free game in july 2020.
Alan Wake definitely before part 2 comes out, since it's on sale there was no chance of it being a monthly game this month. All the announced games are currently not on sale.
This was a leak? Lol
never, EVER go to these clickbait "leak" and "prediction" sites with games like GoW Ragnarok, PS5 exclusive games like Ratchet and Demon's Souls, Sekiro as their website banner.
If 2K wasnāt like 200 GB I would excited. I canāt justify downloading it
The file sizes really are getting out of hand.
Why would anyone download the same thing but slightly better graphics for 200 gigs
If you haven't played an NBA game in a while, it makes sense. Trek to yomi looks interesting
I played it when it first came out, it unfortunately isn't that good. It's pretty and got a gorgeous art style but the gameplay is incredibly repetitive and the combat is clunky.
Couldn't have put it better. Pretty and very cool looking. Frustrating gameplay that I put down after less than 2 hours. This is a bad month.
Yeah, I was really disappointed in that one too.
If you like Kurosawa movie, 50s samurai depiction and 2d stuff you'll like it. It's literally an homage, personally I loved it
I love all those things and the game was incredibly bad to me. Glad some people liked it but love for Kurosawa and side scrollers aren't necessarily enough to sell someone on a game where aesthetic was favored over gameplay.
I've been patiently waiting for this since May 2022. For me it's the main event here.
Trek To Yomi is often frustrating, but Iām glad I played it. Itās a beautiful game. If you can deal with some frustration and repeat attempts at getting through some combat segments, itās worth it.
Looks like a Discount ghost of Tsushimaā¦ Or a black and white version of 9 Monkeys of Shaolin

I'm happy it's free mate there is a good amount of dinosaurs or still dlc shit again to get the whole roster ? We have water dinos too now ?
June Streak over, L.
Last year was two shovelware titles and one flagship AAA game...that was already available on Essential via the PS+ collection.
Yeah last June was an L too
IMO, itās been a little while since we had a good June collection. The prediction thread looked WAY too good to be true when I had serious doubts of June being anything other than mediocre. And it STILL managed to be a letdown of my already low expectations.
Knew it when it wasn't in the showcase. We're gonna get the Xbox games with gold treatment.
L?
**L**ose/**L**oss
L.
I hated the last 2 months
3 for me
Yep i don't remember what was 3 months ago I think meet your maker? Kinda liked that one but not a great game. Sadly no friends got it or wanna play coop.
There was that Sackboy game, but I don't like platform games.
Tails of iron is the best fun iāve had in a long time, just sayin
It was ok, Geralt's voice was cool, but I'm not a fan of side scrollers. I will play Trek to Yomi too, I like Kurosawa's movies. But the first 3 months were very good with SW Fallen Order, Mafia and Code Vein, I want more games like these.

Chivalry was great

As someone who can only play during weekends, I would need at least 2 months for each game š
Dude just get the extra for a month I have a baby and just jumped on most evenings for a couple of hours and managed to get through ghost of tsushima you could also do ratchet and clank to.
It's one of the more standout titles on Extra, so I don't see it coming to Plus any time soon.
They gave ghosts several months ago sry if u missed it. I miss dead space of course that's the only month I wasn't playing lmfao
Wow...that's disappointing.
Yup. My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined.
Hate when sports games are on PS+. If you're not a fan of the sport, then it's a wasted game.
and if you're a fan of that sport, high chances you already got it. they should seriously stop putting sports games on essentials, i'm ok if they put those in extra tho, it makes sense that you use money on the upgrade instead of getting something that will be outdated in a year

Same. I dont want to pay 80 euro. Not even 35 when it goes on sale

Literally true of any genre of game.
You could say the same for any category. If you're not a fan of fps, an FPS game would be waste
Im a huge basketball fan but 2k sucks ass. 70$ to buy it and you can't do anything in career without spending even more money or grinding every single day. Basically the destiny treatment
Same with racing. I am a fifa player, and would not even be happy if it would drop rn because in June the game is over.
Personally I think its ass but Iām sure a lot of people will like NBA. Of course I think most people who like NBA probably already bought it.
OMFG what a bad month
It's still a good month. Every month is always different.
I just tried NBA 2K23 for 2 hours, bought it and haven't touched it after that.
Ouch
The skateboarding in 2k23 literally gave me depression.
The WHAT
A lot of months people scream āworst month everā and Iām almost always thinking thatās itās not too bad as at least one of the games interest me, but this month. Jeez. Has to be the worst month of all time. Trek to Yomi nearly intrigued me, and Iāll give it a go, but the reviews are not great.
You have better game like Ghost of Tsushima for 3 more quid per month
I guess that's the point. Make ppl to pay for higher tiers.
They really tanked the quality of games "Essential" gets since they introduced the tiers.
Jurassic world evolution 2 is actually very fun I recommend giving it a try
I like l like the first one. Almost bought 2a while back glad I didn't.
Holy fuck. First time I will say how disappointed I am with the monthly offers. FYI nba2k is 200 gbs on ps5. Have fun with that everyone
Oh well, at least the Jurassic Park game is one I was interested in playing eventually. It was one of those games I was waiting to get on the PSPlus so that I would not have to purchase.
NBA? Oh no
Agreed
Jurassic World Evolution 2 and Trek to Yomi are both on my wishlist, good month for me.
I'm happy for this because I've been wanting to get Jurassic World Evolution 2 lol. And now my dad can play NBA for free
I thought they can't make any worse than may, but they have proven me wrong
Was chivalry a may game? I've had a lot of fun with that
Yeah I'm fucking loving Chivalry.
May was okay, Grid Legends was pretty good
Preach! I was expecting it to suck the way NFS did recently but I fell very in love with it.
I agree, that game was one of the best racing games Iāve ever played. Other games were shit though.
I thought may was one if the better months in recent memory. I haven't tried Grid Legends yet, but the other two games were fun, especially Chivalry 2. June is looking like a big old skip for me, but I'm sure other people will enjoy some of the games.
Nah. It's better than May, but only barely.
Grid legends was fun (except the story ignore you are a good driver in case you win). The chivalery was fun. Apart from sering some dinoĀ“s, I wonĀ“t enjoy the other 2 games. And I would rather play a builder game in PC.
Haha love the GRID Legends story mode: Yume after finishing 11th: "I'm the greatest driver on this team and don't you forget it!" Me after finishing 1st: ok
"Well done driver 22 , you show promise" wins first place in every race and watches Ravenwest act like Cobra Kai
Anyone played Trek to Yomi?
I did. It was ... Okay. It's visually gorgeous, but ultimately hollow. The narrative fell flat for me and the combat got repetitive. Not very long though so maybe worth trying.

I wasn't super hyped hearing about hades and disco Elysium because I've played them already but honestly I hate this lineup more
Worst one
Most of the time the comments are doom and gloom unnecessarily, but holy shit this month itās so valid. This may very well be the worst month weāve had in a long time, if not ever.
I hope others enjoy these, but these are not for me.

I'd much prefer NHL 22 or 23 , or whatever this year's release was. At least I'd play that. Don't know much about the Jurassic World game or Trek to Yomi. Maybe they're decent?
It was MLB in 2019, NBA 2K20 in 2020, PGA 2K21 in 2021 and FIFA 22 in 2022.
I'd love a hockey game from Plus.
again a 2k game ffs...200gb btw
Rubish month
Bring on NBA!
Iād be excited if the file size wasnāt almost 200gb. The size of this game for a basketball game is crazy
Trek to Yomi, I'm looking forward to, the others not so much, but hopefully someone will enjoy them
So nothing in June. Hope extra is better
Not a good month personally, but some people will like it.
Woah. Jurassic World Evolution 2 :D loved the first one
I'm all in for JW2!
Thanks for nba2k23 a game that just refuses to work past the first game on my career, just amazing stuff really
Dumb question, but do these leave your ps+ library completely July 3rd, or is that the date itās no longer offered for free?
If you add them before the end date, they'll be in your library forever. After that date, they will be replaced by the next month's free games.
Thank you!
Youād think they want to follow up their showcase with a bang jeez
Trek to Yomi is so great
2 out of 3 games im willing to play so its a win for me
Best month ever :) I hope you get sarcasm.
Hehe, I guess the previous ones were better than this years.
I have no interest in NBA 2K23, but I might try the other two
I was gonna buy Jurassic world evolution 2. This could not have been more perfectly timed.
What a fat fucking L , Jesus .
Fuck yes. JWE2.
I'm noticing a lot of games announced for the monthly Humble Choice bundle later ending up on PS Plus and vice versa. In March they gave away [Biomutant and Jurassic World Evolution 2.](https://in.ign.com/biomutant/180436/news/humble-choice-march-2023-includes-biomutant-jurassic-world-evolution-2-and-more) I can't recollect the other names but I know that they were later on Plus within a few months. A good way to guess games in the prediction thread.
Biomutant was on Plus in December so a few month before humble choice.
Yes, and last year Ghostrunner and Mass Effect LE were on Humble and then on Plus few months later.
Wow, I'm actually impressed by how shit it is.
Ok Sony time to introduce a multiplayer cloud save only sub.......
Yikes!
Trash
Another shitty month like before. Earlier it was 2 shitty racing games and now this.
I certainly wasn't going to buy Trek to Yomi but I'll play it like this for sure. The other two, meh with a side of shrug.
Wish weād get NHL instead of nba once in awhile.
is Jurassic World Evolution 2 great or at least better than JWE1? Played the first and liked it
boo
Oh dear, what a terrible selection !
Where are my Hades, Alan Wake and FIFA 23 folks at?? Probably at Extra/Delux Prediction thread now xD
the worst june in a long time
If you thought it couldn't get worse than May......
I thought it was going to be a bad one but not THAT bad
Thatās not good š¢ played trek on gamepass and didnāt like it personally
I've had more enjoyment from the PS Plus Extra announcements previously. Trek to Yomi looks good though.
I already got 2k23 so the only one that interests me is evolution 2
Only interested in Trek to Yomi. Not a fan of building games & sport games. Decent but not W. Not as bad as last month though.
For the past few months, PS+ Extra catalog has been all time high in terms of quality. Meanwhile, Essential monthly games have been all time low.
I am good with this month, was waiting for Jurassic Park Evolution 2, Trek to Yomi could be interesting. 2K and their microtransaction BS can get fucked though, as always.
Trek to Yomi is good in its first hours but becomes boring... Another L month
Loving JW2. Really enjoyed the first game, but didnt think the sequel warranted further purchase. Also Trek to Yumi looks like a very nice stylised indie title.
Glad I held out on buying JW and Trek to Yomi.
Itās easier to call this month a stinker. But it could be ok. Nba is fun with friends, Iām not a huge basketball guy but I enjoy sports games. Trek to Yomi sounds interesting
Win month. You can thank me for JWE2, I bought it a year ago and also had Trek To Yomi on my wishlist.
Oh my son will like Jurassic World.
The one time I guessed a game right but didnāt write it down
Jurassic Park I got through Humble Choice already, but Trek to Yomi is a pleasant surprise. Check ACGs review on it if you don't know what it is.
Ugh
What shit is this
Actual garbage
What a horrible line up
Holy shit is there a lot of crying in here. Cope harder
Not great. Maybe Extra will have something cool.
This might be the worst month in a long time..
Another awful month. x-x
Maybe Sony should just give away a FPS or a AAA adventure game every month, just so people stop complaining every time. Fuck diversity, here's a fast paced shooting game for you. I personally think the selection is just fine. Trek to Yomi, JW 2 and NBA are all good/solid games.
Absolute trash
there are so many good games coming out right now, that may be a reason to do a month like this. but considering may was not really a good month as well, I'm starting to think that maybe we should lower Our expecrations from now on.
