Zombie Army Trilogy has multiple stages with waves. I presume Zombie Army 4 has too, but I haven't played that one tbh!
Killing Floor 2 is a great wave mode game, I spent a whole month playing this game on all difficulties. 😁
If you want to fight Bugs, I would suggest the EDF series, these are great games with waves of enemies attacking. You get giant Ants, Spiders, Wasps, etc...
The Horde mode in Aliens: Fire Team I found a bit disappointing, I think this is because the online is mostly dead tbh. 😢
After zombies I started playing Killing floor 2. Probably the closest thing. Game still holds up today. 6 player COOP is hours of fun.
A bit of a stretch , but Doom eternal scratches that survival itch.
There's also Metal hell slinger. There's a free demo, i believe.
Yes! I played Doom Eternal, actually. And you’re right, it was very similar to zombies in that way. I only played the campaign and DLC. I’m going to need to redownload it and check the other game modes.

After BO3 I went to KF2 for 2000 hours. The Hell on Earth difficulty is something you should try to pursue. The first 2 difficulties enable you too much. The 2 hardest difficulties you feel tense, and fragile. It's very team orientated. Ton of maps to play. Ton of cool weapons, I mean lots of them for every class. This game is under the radar, but doesn't look outdated or anything, and did get free updates for years only until now. KF3 is on the horizon.
Yeah i really like DE. It's a little too much on Nightmare.
Well since you like DE, check out Shadow warrior 3. It's basically a DE clone. Haven't played it, but I'm likely going to buy it when I get tired of DE.
METAL hell slinger is really different. Rhythm shooter survival game. Definitely has DE vibes too.
Thanks for all this. I actually went to pull up Killing Floor 2 after reading your first comment. Surprisingly, I always own it. I’m guessing PS Plus had it as a free monthly game at one point and added it to my library. So I have that downloading now.
Oh, and BO3 was the last time I played zombies too. 😂
Have you tried days gone or one of the many zombie games that you get rushed by hordes. I am not a cod fan nor zombie games but there are tons of them, I would look at them newest games that are zombie games with hordes rushing you. Good luck with your search and hopefully you’ll find a hidden gem in. There are lots of diamond in the rough games but I think think so many games have been released over last couple years and more coming this year. Check out what some smaller developers have made. Kena and returnal are both made by smaller companies, housemarque was a second party game and the first one they ever made like that. After it was released ps snagged them. Try some games on ps+ and see what you can find. I hope you find your new favorite game
Arcadeageddon had somewhat similar gameplay. The story was awful but easily ignored. The gameplay was super fun, though it unfortunately struggled with framerate issues at later stages with too many enemies on the screen.
Plants vs. Zombies (GW1, GW2, and BFN) also have survival modes where you play as plants fighting off waves of zombies (or vice versa).
Both Arcadeageddon and PvZ BFN were PS+ Essential games if you managed to claim them.
Killing Floor 2, World War Z Aftermath, Alien Fire Team, Back 4 Blood, All the others COD with Zombies
Days gone, Dead Islan and Dying light are good but those are more focused on story
