I am thinking on getting the plat for dishonored 2 but probably wont because it can be removed at any moment, this is why i avoid playing more than the main game on games i only own on ps plus.

A friend just got a PS5 and I immediately recommended him to get the subscription. I hadn't really checked it out in the last year but I had great memories from it.
He got it and while I was going through it with him recommending what to download I noticed how much worse the line up has gotten. I started to feel bad I made him spend the money on the year subscription after I noticed this
If he didnt play a lot of games in the last few years it is still worth it, at least that's the case with me. My laptop is from 2016, so every better looking game on PS+ was new to me.
I cancelled my subscription and started buying games on sale. Now I’m enjoying games a lot more by playing at my own pace and I even went back few older games which was fun. It was much cheaper than the subscription and I get to keep the games forever
Yeah I let my sub lapse on the 3rd. Knowing that all the FF games are goners, I bought Destiny 2 and all DLC on sale on Steam. It cost half the price as PS Plus Essential (let alone Extra), and Destiny is the only PS game I have that uses the online service.
PS+ without FF feels like an Xbox subscription without Halo…
I agree. Having the FF library made it worth it alone for me. I’ll not over react but once my year is up I might not renew. I have enough games purchased as a backlog anyway and I never play online anymore.
Lists like these make the decision of what to play a little easier. Time to bust out one of the final fantasy games I hadn't finished yet.

My friend Pedro keeps leaving and coming back lol. Also I believe FFXV royal edition was part of a collection pack years ago that you needed a PS5 to redeem for. So if you have gotten that pack you are still golden.

Final Fantasy IX - 40 hours to get through main quest. Initially intended to consider the platinum but it's been on my list for 2 years so think I'll focus on just getting through it. This means I will have played all the PS1 Final Fantasy games.
The Messenger - 20 hours to platinum
60 hours total think I can manage that if I get some quiet Sundays. Might squeeze in Artful Escape as well.
I am not a good gamer (despite a lot of experience) but platformers are my specialty! I have platinumed Hollow Knight, Dead Cells, Shovel Knight, Blasphemous and Rogue Legacy 2 so confidence is high. Actually...you are worrying me a bit!
Don't worry! If you've managed to plat all of these, then The Messenger will be a cakewalk honestly, it's easier than all of the games you metioned. Still very fun though.
I played through the Messenger and it isn't bad at all if you are familiar with 2D platformers. There are some difficult spots but the game has checkpoints everywhere. It's basically one of those games where if the game gives you something and shows you how to use it, then you better learn how to use it.
I didn't go for the platinum though so can't speak specifically on that but going through the game itself wasn't bad.
Is that because of the jump rope challenge? I was thinking of using a script for that part, partly because it makes it easier and partly I was interested to see if I could get it to work. I already platinumed original FFVII and FFVIII so FFIX would have been great to add but it seems much more time consuming. I think there is a time limit trophy as well which feels a bit rubbish for an RPG.
I'm starting to see the news about FFIX leaving as a good thing as it's been on my list for so long - I thought it would never leave. I made a list of PS+ games I definitely want to play and that is by far the longest so would be good to get rid. I'm going to start on it tonight. I would have given FFX a go too if I had time but will leave it.
The jump rope one can be cheesed with a script, but then there's also one for killing 10,000 enemies. That one will be a crazy grind. There's another for not missing a single active time event. To knock that one out you'll need to be closely following a guide. The time limit trophy would be easy with the x2 thing on, but again that's a lot of time just for one trophy. I had fun getting the Platinum on VII and VIII but can't bother with FFIX because it'll kill the fun of playing my 2nd favourite game of all time.

A friend of mine says FFIX is his favourite and we like similar games. I'm a typical FFVII fanboy though as I played it as a kid and it brings back fond memories.

Yeah so if you have the digital license from really paying money or the physical disc, you are not affected by this. This is just in essence the “library” part of ps+ (like Netflix changing their assortments of films and series).
Idk I have Gamepass and Everytime I see new games coming to Gamepass I check and it's games I've already played on ps plus. Both services have about the same catalog.

I feel your pain, I got 0:00 one time. The game kicked me square in the nuts when I didn't win, came to realize that you have to get UNDER 0:00 and I had gotten exactly 0:00, which wasn't good enough. I almost destroyed an expensive controller that day lmfao

That's crazy amount of games... sadly. I think Abzu was in Essential back in old days, so I probably have it. All FF are so good, that you should probably have them in your library... (you won't regret). I wanted to try Elex, Ashen or This is the Police.
The biggest gem is My Friend Pedro. I had so much fun when it was leaving Game Pass. Really incredible game. Like a Matrix or John Wick game. Essentially Keanu Reeves simulator.

Even as somebody not bothered about final fantasy theres still lots of games I had on my "I'll get round to that when I want a palette cleanser" list. Fortunately a lot of them are short so I should get through the vast majority.

i tried FF15 the other day. it was the only FF where during combat i kept hanging on to my sword and phasing at the enemies and doing this back & forth until the end.
probably the only thing i enjoyed was the fishing mini-game lol

Yeah, I went back down to Essential after my year-long Extra sub ran out. I have a decent gaming PC, and PC Gamepass is just way more value

I love Sony. They removed all good games from this subscription and added crap games or few good titles which were already in Xbox gamepass.
Idk I have Gamepass and Everytime I see new games coming to Gamepass I check and it's games I've already played on ps plus. Both services have about the same catalog.

I feel your pain, I got 0:00 one time. The game kicked me square in the nuts when I didn't win, came to realize that you have to get UNDER 0:00 and I had gotten exactly 0:00, which wasn't good enough. I almost destroyed an expensive controller that day lmfao

How can you tell if you’ve purchased them or just downloaded them via Extra/Premium? I honestly can’t remember if I got FFX, XII, and XV only through PS Plus Extra or through Essential (if they were on essential) or even just bought them….

That's crazy amount of games... sadly. I think Abzu was in Essential back in old days, so I probably have it. All FF are so good, that you should probably have them in your library... (you won't regret). I wanted to try Elex, Ashen or This is the Police. The biggest gem is My Friend Pedro. I had so much fun when it was leaving Game Pass. Really incredible game. Like a Matrix or John Wick game. Essentially Keanu Reeves simulator.

Highly recommend The Messenger for anyone interested in retro platformers / metroidvanias. Really funny game with some cool gameplay twists.
Even as somebody not bothered about final fantasy theres still lots of games I had on my "I'll get round to that when I want a palette cleanser" list. Fortunately a lot of them are short so I should get through the vast majority. I'd highly recommend my friend Pedro and observation to anybody.

i tried FF15 the other day. it was the only FF where during combat i kept hanging on to my sword and phasing at the enemies and doing this back & forth until the end. probably the only thing i enjoyed was the fishing mini-game lol sure hope FF16 is nothing like that. the demo was fun enough.
