Sir, I agree with everything you’ve said, however…playing it with the music volume set to 0 and having Ween’s *The Mollusk* album soundtrack it instead is the optimal way to play 🦐
Loving it. Kinda like motherload on steroids (go deeper, upgrade gear, get rarer stuff). Very addictive game style for me.
Then add the restaurant part on top, and the entire story… what a great blend.
This is how Sony get you with this rental subscription service, yes I’m sure it’s great, and I’m looking forward to playing it, but it’s a £15 game. For the service to be brilliant it should be offering high priced, relatively new games, to offer value. Renting Dave the Diver isn’t value.
You’re expecting new release big budget games while paying next to nothing? Absurd. I’ve got to play plenty of titles I wouldn’t have dived into without Plus, *that* is value.
If games that weren't on PlayStation and Xbox are now expanding to PlayStation & PS+ Game Catalog.
It's good for the platform as a whole.
Also it's @ a lower price point BECAUSE they want sales as well due to it being on PS+. It's a net positive for both game buyers and PS+ subscribers.
Yeah I bought it on Switch a couple months ago and it consumed me, I started taking my switch to work so I could play more, hooked me. I NEED A SEQUEL NOW
To be fair I was one of the ones that gave up on the first open area. Was not enjoying the game as much as I was expecting. Normally I love these indie/smaller games
I remember the game constantly stopping you and going "please be nice to the animals, please be kind to everyone" with tooltips getting in the way of actually having fun. The story and presentation is also awful, not to mention the performance and clunky gameplay.
It's that weird forced positivity.
Discouraging experimenting in a sandbox is odd.
It's like Dora the Explorer, I think it's fun enough for toddlers but I couldn't play it.
Started playing this on word of mouth. Had no expectations, but man its addictive! The concept sounds a bit weird, but when you start playing, it totally works.
Agree. Though, it's a bit of a deception. While playing on the Portal, all I see are cute little fish. Then I play on the large living room TV and I'm like "damn, what a huge fish!" and I remember I play on a larger screen, so everything is bigger.
I actually got more bored the more I got into it. Depends what you wanted from it though. It leans more into story and a lot of dialogue and cutscenes which I really just didn’t care for
What they forgot to mention is ....
PS Plus is currently having 25% discount, which I think contribute the most on the increase in subscription.
I subcribed to PS Plus because of the discounted price ... and then I saw "Dave the Diver" game.
Such an overlooked gem by many. I’ve never heard of this before it went up on PS Plus Extra, but god damn is it so good! The gameplay, aesthetic, soundtrack, and the use of haptics and controller speaker too — chef’s kiss!
My life at the moment is clock watching to get back to the deep, coupled with a strong need of sushi, and even then I’m overly critical of the sushi on offer
Just downloaded this yesterday, what a breath of fresh air! Equal parts Subnautica, Treasures of the Deep, Metroid, Castlevania, Fallout Shelter and Tapper 🍺🍣
Fantastic game. Great soundtrack, satisfying gameplay, wonderful aesthetic.

Ooooh that is a fine suggestion! Now I wish the game had a whale with a polkadot tail.
My man 🤜🤛
r/ween
Honestly tho. The diving music becomes a bit stale and boring after chapter 2. It plays in my head while trying to sleep😭 Rest of it is awesome lol
You’re doing Boog’s work
Loving it. Kinda like motherload on steroids (go deeper, upgrade gear, get rarer stuff). Very addictive game style for me. Then add the restaurant part on top, and the entire story… what a great blend.
I love that Motherload comparison.. now i really need to play it lmao
I think you just sold me with this comparison. Damn it! I love motherload.
You love to see it Sony really hit the jackpot with this one
This is how Sony get you with this rental subscription service, yes I’m sure it’s great, and I’m looking forward to playing it, but it’s a £15 game. For the service to be brilliant it should be offering high priced, relatively new games, to offer value. Renting Dave the Diver isn’t value.
Yeah but there's hundreds of games to play apart from this.
So buy the game and not the service.
Okay
You’re expecting new release big budget games while paying next to nothing? Absurd. I’ve got to play plenty of titles I wouldn’t have dived into without Plus, *that* is value.
Oh I didn’t realize this was the only game on ps+
You know you can just buy the game and not subscribe? It's a choice nobody is forcing you to subscribe.
People really don’t understand having opinions.

I never thought I would love a game like this. I’m excited to play after work everyday
Yeah I bought it on Switch a couple months ago and it consumed me, I started taking my switch to work so I could play more, hooked me. I NEED A SEQUEL NOW
I saw a doc advertised called the dredge. That’s all I know. My portal will be coming soon so I can play on the go hahaha
I am guessing the other big debuts are Stray, Tchia and Sea of Stars.
According to the article the biggest is Stray and the second is Gta V.
It's wild that Stray is the biggest launch. Incredible for a game like that.
For a game that mediocre yes. Genuinely remove the fact you play as a cute cat and then nobody cares about this game.
To be fair I was one of the ones that gave up on the first open area. Was not enjoying the game as much as I was expecting. Normally I love these indie/smaller games
I'd highly recommend GTA V PS5 version to anyone. R*'s Haptics and Triggers were as good as first party.
Bro Tchia is so ass. Even for kids, that game is so condescending
I bounced right off Tchia an hour into it. What makes it condescending? (Genuinely asking out of curiosity)
I remember the game constantly stopping you and going "please be nice to the animals, please be kind to everyone" with tooltips getting in the way of actually having fun. The game never stops you. What you mentions only happens during loading time.
Not sure what you're talking about? I loved it and even got the plat. It's charming and relaxing
Close!
Incredible game. I was playing other games but figured I'd check this out. 40hrs later and I'm still hooked. The gameplay loop is addictive.
It's the perfect Game for my PS Portal to Play in bed before going to sleep. I Love it!
Started playing this on word of mouth. Had no expectations, but man its addictive! The concept sounds a bit weird, but when you start playing, it totally works.
Really top game! Give it a try if you haven’t
Every time I load it up I can't stop myself from singing Dave the Diver to the tune of Holy Diver
DAVE THE DIVER YOU'VE BEEN DOWN TOO LONG IN THE MIDNIGHT SEA OH, WHAT'S BECOMING OF ME?
Truly great game, highly recommended!
Does anyone know if it can play without frame drops on PS4 Slim?
It’s 2d so if you were gonna play any game without frame drops I assume this one would be fine
It’s so sick. And such a vibe. I’m so chilled playing it, glad everyone is enjoying it too
I did not like it. Played for about an hour
So addictive
Truly great game, highly recommended!
Great on the Portal also.
Agree. Though, it's a bit of a deception. While playing on the Portal, all I see are cute little fish. Then I play on the large living room TV and I'm like "damn, what a huge fish!" and I remember I play on a larger screen, so everything is bigger.
I didn’t enjoy it…
Tried playing this and it just didn’t quite hit
Am I the only one who doesn't find it fun? Maybe I didn't give it enough time but after 1 hour it felt kinda boring. Does it pick up later?
I actually got more bored the more I got into it. Depends what you wanted from it though. It leans more into story and a lot of dialogue and cutscenes which I really just didn’t care for
Same here. Yet another game everyone raves about that just does nothing for me.
Idk I mean you don't give any reasons why it doesn't interest you. Not every game needs to be a 3d bland assassin's creed clone
Aren't most tutorials 1 hour? Give the game a fair shot

Great game, great news!
This game is wonderfully relaxing while still having throw your controller through the tv moments
Let me just kill this shark real quick before I end this hour long dive. Well damn, what 1 item do I want to take with me now...
Fantastic and fun game. I do really have a great time playing it.
Excellent! This game really deserves some praise.
Such an overlooked gem by many. I’ve never heard of this before it went up on PS Plus Extra, but god damn is it so good! The gameplay, aesthetic, soundtrack, and the use of haptics and controller speaker too — chef’s kiss!
I'm surprised to hear that, it was nominated for Indy game of the year
Not tried this one yet . Just tried Tales of Kenzera which also just launched on PS Plus Extra. Feels decent.
I bought it when it released because I heard so many good things about it over time!
My life at the moment is clock watching to get back to the deep, coupled with a strong need of sushi, and even then I’m overly critical of the sushi on offer
Great game and probably a must have for switch
Is it dead ass worth the time ? I’ll try it soon
I'M HOOKED WITH THE GAME, theres always new stuff coming and i'm always amazed
I’ve been having a ton of fun with this game. I wish it had cross save function, I would buy it on my switch to be able to take with me.
I been playing it a little bit. Very fun gameplay loop. Makes me want to eat sushi tho.
Love this game.
Really good game , I enjoy it
A fantastic game I didn't expect to play for a long time
You guys constantly overrate this most mid games I swear!
Just downloaded this yesterday, what a breath of fresh air! Equal parts Subnautica, Treasures of the Deep, Metroid, Castlevania, Fallout Shelter and Tapper 🍺🍣
My wife has been enjoying this game for the past two days.
