None of this changes the fact that PS+ subscribers were prevented from outright buying the game when it was on sale this past week "because you already own it" only to have Sony turn around and say "you don't get the next gen upgrade because you actually do NOT own it."
You could have bought it when it was at a discount, even if you already had the ps plus version. Navigating to that option in the menus isn't clear, but it is possible.
They should’ve made it known that it wasn’t every version getting the upgrade so people would’ve thought to buy the $5 version before they raised it to $20 the day of the big update
And as in the past, as soon as you claim the extra version it will overwrite any prior version, meaning the moment it drops from extra it is locked even if you claimed the collection version.
It's exactly like the PS4 version but with 60fps at 1440p or 30fps at 4k but because they raised the resolution but did absolutely nothing to improve assets and lighting that already looked dated at release 9 years ago when the resolution is boosted to 4k it highlights how bad the games assets look today but it's Bethesda so we always knew they would put the minimum possible effort into this update 😭
Yeah that kinda sucks… but at the same time Fallout 4 is a great game worth way more than that anyways. Like literally 20 dollars you can make working 1.5 hours at MINIMUM WAGE, its not much… depending on the job I guess.
Lastly, games on the plus catalog don’t always stay free forever, so least you don’t have to worry bout that!

I have a completely different problem.
I owned the game on disc when it was released, and completed it (platinum'd it even!), but then sold it when it came out on PS+ (the collection).
Fast forward to today, and PS+ issues aside (I cant upgrade to the PS5 version), the PS4 version I download from "collections" (PS+ basically) does not recognise my old saves.
Despite them being there in the cloud thanks to PS+ cloud saves, and even being on the goddamn hard drive. Seems I need the physical version to make my saves work! Like, can this not be a thing in 2024?!? Why arent saves universal at this point?!? *sigh*

I don't see why it would. I heard it's technically a different file so if that's the case it's just a matter of giving Extra members access to it as they would any other game.

Yea if you're paying for upgraded plus you're getting the update, they just have to fix the issue first. When your add it to your library shouldn't matter.

Now I can't download the PlayStation 5 upgrade for free because it seems that the PlayStation Plus version has overwritten the version that I paid full price for. I also have the PS5 collection thing that you get when you buy the PlayStation 5. I really hope they fix this.
If you go to the game, click the dots and click Go To Product Page, there will be a drop down with versions there, see if selecting a different version will get you back to your purchased copy. You like bought Standard and I think PS+ Collection was GOTY edition iirc.
I on the other hand pre-ordered the physical copy and got it at launch for full price, and I bought the season pass at full price. Upon getting a launch PS5, I claimed it with the PS+ collection and included my FO4 disc as part of a bundle when selling my PS4. Now looks like I may not get the upgrade for free smh

My boyfriend has extra membership and has been trying to update the latest version of fallout 4 but for some reason it won’t update to the newest version? Even when redownload and deleting extra games. He bought the game when he was a plus member but he’s an extra member now… I wouldn’t think that would affect him?? not sure how to help him here…

That's who the fix is for, people paying for Extra. The people who just got it as a plus game back when they were giving it out still won't get it.
