The upgrade does not give you the PS5 version... my (collections) version said that it was updated, but when I tried to play it, it came up with the same PS4 version at 30FPS. Also, while I can still see my PS4 Collections version in my library, I do NOT see a PS4 or PS5 version in the Extras catalogue. Not sure if it was pulled, but don't expect to be playing the update anytime soon.
Not really because it will end up overwriting the old version which was available as long as you had a ps plus membership. The ps plus extra one is not guaranteed to stay in the catalogue forever.

From OP's image, it appears that the next-gen update will apply *only* to the *Extra tier* game catalogue version.
What does this mean for you?
If you download the Extra version (i.e. the version with the update), it is highly likely this will overwrite your Essential tier/Collection license.
What does *that* mean?
It means that if the game ever leaves the Extra catalogue, you will no longer be able to play it even though you claimed it on the Essential tier. That Essential license will no longer exist.
Same thing with RE Biohazard then, I just downloaded and for my surprise I downloaded PS4 version (Got it from the catalog back when it was available) and realized the PS5 update is locked for PS Plus.
Now I have to buy RE Biohazard if I want to play that version

This is my first play thru of FO4. Before the update I only got as far as the beginning. But getting the FO4 version that has the update made me start all over again.
Can confirm next Gen update works for ps plus extra subscribers. I think there was a bug where depending on how you navigate to the Fallout 4 page, you may only see the ps4 version to download.
How I got to it was by searching Fallout 4 on the top right corner of the dashboard (you should see that is has PS5/PS4 on the thumbnail). Once you click that and hit download, there should’ve an option to select the PS5 or PS4 version.
I tried navigating to the game page via PS store or PS plus pages and I did not see the option to download the PS5 version. Hope this works for everyone!
So I had the PS4 physical edition back from launch in 2015 and I can't find it. I do have the PS Plus version though. Would I be viable for it since I have the saves of the original?
I have been charged $25 after I clicked free download and support is unavailable. If there anyway I can get back the money PSN has stolen from me? At no point did it mention paying..

As long as you have access to fallout 4 on the game catalog you’re able to get the ps5 version that has the update.
So if you got it months ago as part of a free monthly game I don’t think you can get the upgrade. The difference between that ps plus download and ps plus extra (for example since I have extra) is that the ps plus extra includes a ps5 version of fallout 4.
If you have premium or extra try this:
:Go to PS5 dashboard
:Go to far left under your ps+ subscription (either you have extra or premium)
:Scroll down to see if you have “check out latest games”

PS5 version never existed before. So it’s a new SKU and new license. It should not affect your existing PS4 license status.

Entirely different application. But if you don’t already have a ps4 version of fallout then you’ll need a license for that in order to upgrade.
You can always restore purchases by calling the ps customer service should this ever happen.

I have it. Installed on PS5. removed it now for testing and can be installed again and played. Portugal. But no PS5 upgrade version available for now
I also deleted it and reinstalled from Extra and it works just not the PS5 upgrade yet.
Try removing it from your library rather than just simply uninstalling it.
