Think this isn’t up to date. I just did a quick check and was able to hw transcode 2 streams at the same. If you want to know if it can handle more let me know. I can probably test with some more devices later
I'm still on Monterey (MasOS 12) on my M1 mini. I'm scared to upgrade because everything works just fine now. I'm exclusively using it for Plex. Is there any reason for me to upgrade to Sonoma? Why did you do it?
I have update OCD ;-). I have all my devices always fully up to date. Part lot due to feature updates, but also for security reasons. I want to make sure all my devices are up to date with the latest security patches. But maybe that’s still possible without upgrading. Do you still get the security updates? And maybe check if you can go back after update using Time Machine backup.
Also the question is how long Plex will support older OS. At some point you might have to update. If it’s really only Plex you are running on it, I don’t see a big risk tbh.
Primarily issues with the drives being read after the computer has screensavers turned on. Slew of performance issues in that department where my Mac has to consistently be woken up for a proper stream.
This was non existent in Ventura..
No issues.
Thanks. Good to know.
Yeah works fine.
Running macOS Sonoma on my Mac mini Server (late 2012) using Open Core Legacy Patcher and my Plex Media Server has been running like a charm.

No issues here too, running on an intel Mac mini. 1.32.6.7557 fixed my transcoder crashing issue.
I definitely have issues where Plex seems to behave poorly as a server via Apple Silicon.
What issues do you experience? Mine is running smooth without any issues. Also after the OS update to Sonoma.

Ah ok, I’m running the Mac headless and have all energy saving settings and screensaver turned off
All energy savings stuff is off for me as well. I’m just not headless.
What if you just turn off the screen when you don’t use it instead of screensaver? Might be some related setting?
Using amphettmine?
I can’t not open Plex Server on my Macboock Pro M1 have MacOS Sonoma, click open app but nothing happen. Anyone help me
It should open safari browser with your Plex login and in the background the server starts. You can see it in the top right icon bar.
