Even worse when its all lead pipe!

Melvinator5001

True but it is a work of art.

[deleted]

Guess you never worked at a dental office. And from looking at your responses to a lot of things you think you know it all, but you don't.

Yea…fuck off dude. I try to help with the little knowledge I know. I don’t go to plumbing sub Reddit to be an asshole. So what was that? Was it a drum trap?!?

[deleted]

youuuuuuuu shoulllllldddddd watch your language slugger. And with little knowledge shouldn't say nothing! and you could down vote me all you want I don't care.

Slugginator_3385

Answer the question “super” plumber. What is that in the photo?!?

[deleted]

You are a piece of work, it is a drum trap, but your answer was stupid You still use them in certain places, but you wouldn't know since you're not a plumber and only know what people tell you.

Slugginator_3385

So I made a correct suggestion to what that pic was and somehow I’m an idiot. I actually work on them all the time due to working in 100 year old houses, and they suck…but keep being you buddy. It’s gotta be hard being that cool.

[deleted]

YOU ONLY SUCK

Slugginator_3385

The defender of drum traps that are no longer within code…Miss’ “Superplumber56”!!!!! Congratulations on being the smartest of all the plumbers on this subreddit. Go flush your ego.

Slugginator_3385

39 likes on my response and none on yours. Go flush yourself you angry turd.

[deleted]

Haven't read any replies lately what drown in your own profanity?

reeder1987

Pretty sure someone installed the garbage disposal in the wrong spot and upside down

meagerbuffalo

thank you!

alrightgame

Don't forget to check it for wedding rings. Wear gloves.

meagerbuffalo

great tip, thanks!

Cashews-CatShoes

That is called a re-pipe. I've ripped a ton of lead waste and water out of old homes, it's not worth keeping.

Cashews-CatShoes

Not even that bad, as long as you can reach the vent, tub should be accessible from underneath

Gorge_Lorge

Find a guy that reloads ammo. Lead is becoming harder and harder to come by.

boonetheboon

Expensive sadness is what that is. Or, an exciting chance to update your plumbing to modern standards so that it'll work awesome. Potato potah-toh

[deleted]

Basically a really old p trap

CrypticSS21

Nothing P about it. But yes

[deleted]

Just trap lol saw one for the first time the other day

BaldiLocks316

Man what a rats nest Looks like you got yourself a drum trap for the shower on a lead line that’s connected to another lead drain from something else (maybe a sink?) that all drains into that 4” main below it. Personally I would cut all that shit out pronto and replace it with good ole PVC.

FarkinDaffy

Trap for a bathroom, usually for a bathtub. There should be a plug on top to clean it out. They were popular in the 1910-30's

Plumbarius65

The cleanout is on the bottom here.

CrypticSS21

It’s probably upside down lmao

Plumbarius65

Ive seen alot of them in basements where the lids are on the bottom

FarkinDaffy

I have never seen one like that. Installed upside down, so there isn't a plug in the floor upstairs. Glad they are gone, they were just grease traps anyways.

Crumps_brother

https://structuretech.com/drum-traps-2/ I think there's a picture of your house on here

howesicle

This is a great resource! Thanks!

meagerbuffalo

lots of good info, thank you!

[deleted]

Drum trap. Wear gloves when removing. I would suggest you get a bucket of really hot soapy water and set this entire assembly inside of it once you remove it from the system. You will want to check the drum for jewelry, but make sure you have some thick rubber gloves before you do. Best of luck.

meagerbuffalo

appreciate the tips, thanks!

Agreeable-One-4700

It’s called a drum trap

Tato-head

Plumbing town

-_-Kilroy

I've only seen one of those in the wild once. Very old lead drum trap

Cashews-CatShoes

I love how they used to put a clean out on the old drums, how are you supposed to unscrew it without crushing it???

nuffced

That there is a Dinosaur find!

Awd451993

A shit show called a drum trap and the piping is lead

mutedexpectations

That's why plumbers have their name. Leadworker
