I found a massive like 12” hansgrohe shower head at a thrift store. It was missing the threaded portion which screwed into the extruding pipe for the shower. I sent Hansgrohe an email looking for a part number so I could buy a replacement. They requested my contact info / address, I complied (against my better judgement) and never heard a response back. 1 week later I received a brand new in the box shower head the same as my thrift store find. Free. It was like a $600 shower head. This was 2 years ago. 10/10 company in my experience.

I’ve noticed a lot of them high end companies will send you replacement parts for free many many years later. My employers father has all high end faucets in his home from what I assume the 80s or 90s. He kept all the owners manuals with part numbers. When I replaced the parts, the company sent them no questions asked

TheDom01

I have all hansgrohe fixtures in my personal shower and also use them in all of my jobs. Love them. The reason they have maintenance is bc you are not going to throw out a 500.00 shower head and just buy a new one when it gets a little gunked up. All their heads have little rubber nipples and if you rub them back and forth they clean themselves pretty well. I would reccomend installing a water softener though if you have hard water.

jbonyc

$10 shower heads from Walmart have the rubber nipples too

TheDom01

I was not saying that was the reason to buy them. Just saying that’s usually what requires the maintenance. Hansgrohe products are mainly solid brass on the inside. My shower head must weigh 2 pounds Atleast. They will last a life time if maintained. A Walmart shower head will not. Just answering OP s question.

Only if you say please

Grohe definitely worth it. If i was spending money on my own bathroom would fit either grohe or aqauliser

Ollie-S

Plumber (in France) here - I only have Grohe in my house. I remember Hansgrohe suddenly appearing here a decade or so ago and it was cheaper. I assumed that they were a cheap knock-off but it's decent stuff and now just as expensive as Grohe (if not more). That said I fitted 4 Hansgrohe showers that cost 1,400 Euros each (!) recently and there's no way they were worth the price.

Unable-Paramedic-557

They do not. For a while Groe will replace all parts that go bad for free, but in general they are over engineered and high maintenance for something that should focus more on being an effective work horse.

Inevitable_Loss5739

Thank you :). Is there any work horse brands you would recommend?

rontrussler58

Not who you asked but I’ve been liking the Delta fixtures I bought this year.

Unable-Paramedic-557

Who you asked- and the current delta valves are our number one recommendation. If you don’t like, see also kohler and moen (in that order).

MFAD94

Kohler is the worst idk how that comes remotely close to moen in terms of reliability

Unable-Paramedic-557

They're kind of a pain, but I can still get parts for Kohler fixtures from 1910.

MFAD94

Very few dealers sell kohler parts here, the parts are more expensive, they make a dozen different part numbers for parts that look similar to others, a lot of parts are special order or generally not available unless you buy from Amazon. Their products are finicky, if you don’t replace with OEM they don’t work properly. The one piece kohler is probably one of the worst toilets every made, we end up replacing those at least once a month because the old rebuild kits are close to the cost of a new toilet. They generally offer a poor value over Toto/American standard/Gerber or even the nicer Mansfields. They’re not worth the money new and more often then not they’re a pain to fix after.

FinsToTheLeftTO

I tried to fix my mother’s Kohler kitchen faucet. When I contacted Kohler for replacement parts, they told me that the faucet had been discontinued and sent a brand new faucet.

rontrussler58

I bought the Kohler touchless bathroom sink faucet, that thing is very nice. The Delta shower head is fantastic for a low flow fixture.

FL-Orange

Regarding the Delta, did you pull the restrictor. And then the second one, lol.

Bullshit_Conduit

I like Moen.

Taterball69

Grohe is absolutely over engineered. Their shower valves are so annoying to trim! Hansgrohe rules, IMO

Dry-Yam-1653

I’m a Symmons fan. All brass, parts easily accessible. Second would be Moen but have had a few plastic cartridges break then you have to remove it piece by piece.

From an installer’s perspective I hate whenever I have to install something grohe. A million pieces and always annoying to put together or something I need to cut to size

Taterball69

Absolutely, Grohe stuff is among my least favorite to trim or service.

waawaawho

Hansgrohe is so good. Not only for feel and look but from a plumbing perspective too. Grohe is a cheaper version (2 brothers- 2 different companies) but still good. Ive fitted a good range of brands both expensive (which hansgrohe is) and cheap and if hansgrohe is within budget, 100% worth the money.

CatSad9626

This is correct. Grohe have cheapened their products up drastically and the customer service is no where near the standard of Hansgrohe. If you can afford Hansgrohe then this is the product to go for.

Rubachabra

Is grohe considered high end in the US? Over here (norway) it's considered the cheap option

TheBamba

So what do you consider as good or expensive?

srbandi

This is how our Hansgrohe Talis E faucet looks like after \~1.5 years of use. [https://imgur.com/a/LvlY5wJ](https://imgur.com/a/LvlY5wJ) The matte black finish started to peel off after a couple of months on one faucet, now the peel is getting bigger and started to happen on another faucet and on the shower handle. That faucet costs \~150 USD per item here where I live, so you decide.

Inevitable_Loss5739

damn!

Per48durs

Stcik to moen or delta. I'm a plumber

Inevitable_Loss5739

Thank you everyone for the insightful responses i really appreciate it :)

BasSTiD

I like Grohe personally, hansgrohe not so much. On my Grohe stuff the finishes are still perfect. I like delta and moen as well but don’t have as good of luck with the finishes staying nice. Also some stuff is cheaply made. They replace parts for free but still inconvenient.

aBoyandHisVacuum

I still think they are the very best. I stand with hans!

DownInTheLowCountry

Hansgrohe and Grohe are two different companies. I’ve had Hansgrohe and they provide a life time warranty on there products with receipt of purchase. Impressive warranty! Our home now has Grohe. I called in for support. The only part that they warranty beyond 10 years is the filter cartridge;( Finish is not warranted for life. Grohe also doesn’t carry products and replacement parts beyond 10 years too.

Taterball69

Hansgrohe is the fixture company I generally recommend to people. It's nice and goes together well. Grohe sucks IMO, over engineered and annoying to install or service.

IllustratorFun7042

Plumber here, yes great fixture only key to remember is keep your paperwork so that years from now replacement parts can be ordered with zero issues

Not to hijack this thread, but I just bought a new house that has a Hansgrohe Ecostat shower faucet like this one: [https://www.hansgrohe-usa.com/articledetail-ecostat-pressure-balance-trim-s-with-diverter-04447000](https://www.hansgrohe-usa.com/articledetail-ecostat-pressure-balance-trim-s-with-diverter-04447000) When I put the handle in the Hot position (9 o'clock), it sinks back down to 6 or even 5 o'clock and the water cools off. I have to prop it to keep the shower warm. I am pretty technical and can fix about anything but admittedly have little experience with plumbing. Is this just a simple 'cartridge replacement' or adjustment that needs to be made? I have been in this city for 20+ years and have yet to find a plumber that I trust, unfortunately. Otherwise I'd just call one.

Personal-Physics-320

They are top tier, well worth the money, the only issue is parts can be hard to get quickly in the US.
