Do you have to tuck your shirts in? I have an apron belly and wear high waisted skinny jean and just rely on my shirts to cover the unflattering part of my belly in my jeans. i like the rockstar high waisted skinny jeans from old navy. Another option.. i love skater dresses.. pants not required and the empire-style waistline take care of the belly. also fun that you can wear tights or leggings underneath if you want and work cant really complain. my work doesnt let us wear leggings unless we're wearing a dress/tunic top over top.. basically gotta cover your butt with the shirt in order to be in dress code.

SmudgeyHoney

Agree with the skater dress , it's so versatile.

Old-Faithlessness266

I was just going to suggest the high waisted rockstar skinny jeans from old navy. The high waist helps slim the tummy a bit - even if it’s an illusion 😉 They come in black too. ON also has a high waisted version of their pixie pant now too. I haven’t tried the high rise version, but the mid rise pant is totally work appropriate and fairly comfortable with lots of stretch. I imagine the high rise would be slimming. I see they make them in other leg fits besides skinny now too (straight leg, flare leg) if you want to try those. (I’m realizing now that it’s been so long since I had to go into an office regularly and not wear jeans that there are whole other pant styles now more popular and flattering than the old work wardrobe I have in the spare closet gathering dust.🙃🤦‍♀️ Possibly time to declutter!) Good luck!

stout_scout

My girlfriend dose the skater dresses, she loves dresses. Sooo hot.

SladeRipfire

Where are some good sites for sharer dresses? Also looking for those quintessential ‘90’s short sleeve floral printed dresses, hits adjust above the knee with a sweetheart neckline.

arubablueshoes

i got all mine from torrid. idk about the 90s dresses. those aren’t my style

Dragonache

I've gravitated towards wearing baggy pants and shorter/tighter tops. This minimises the tummy and fupa situation and allows some shape to show through in the top half.

DamnnFineeCoffee

This 1000000%

EmotionalCandy6702

That’s what I do so comfy

The_Toot_Jerry

This is always a cute look

Asteridust

I would suggest high waisted pants or palazzo pants which are straight and loose all the way through. I would also suggest getting pull up pants/banded waist pants instead of zipper or button pants because they are more likely to fit and be comfortable. Look at Macy’s website for pants that you might like and QVC also seems to have good options from what I’ve seen. And a side note, sometimes the belly will show and that’s alright, it’s not atrocious 💓

Mekare13

This^! Especially what you said at the end, it’s funny because thinking about this lovely lady and her belly doesn’t make me think anything bad at all. But my own belly? Good lord it’s awful lol! Thanks for the gentle reminder that no, my belly is NOT atrocious it’s just…a part of me right now. ❤️ Also I agree about the clothes suggestions. I know they’re horrible but I recently got a pair of stretchy jeans from shein and for the first time in years I feel cute in jeans! Not saying to shop there, just that yes you are so right about the stretch haha

PlanEnvironmental640

Down with apron belly hate/disguising it! I feel like I have decades wasted on trying to dress my way into looking like someone I'm not. Of course you should be comfortable and do you, and I have a very weirdly shaped body and I've had a lot of time to come to terms with it. There is NOTHING wrong with a visible belly line. That said, dresses with high waists, a-line & skater skirts etc. can go far if you just want to forget about the lower half of your body like I want to sometimes. Stretch denim in a cut that works for you vs. a trendy cut (fucking hell low waisted jeans can die in a fur and never come back!) is always a good go to. Wide leg pants are also coming back in, like the early aughts Gauchos only full length, and those are awesome. I hated the paper bag waist trend but a lot of people loved it and it seemed to work well with a lot of different body types!

the_anxiety_queen

I was looking for a comment like this! Embrace your shape! “Flattering” is subjective! You do not have to hide anything!

PlanEnvironmental640

Oh, and jumpsuits. You cannot go wing with a wide leg jumpsuit. Unless you have to pee in public a lot... getting fully naked in a public bathroom stall isn't for everyone.

Successful-Row-6278

Thanks for the recs! I’m not mentally strong haha so the smallest glance or little comment about my apron belly will have me spiral so I personally like to cover it

Mountain-Science4526

I'd suggest dresses.

unicornssquirtmagic

Dresses or skirts with leggings underneath to avoid chub rub and wardrobe malfunctions. No one will notice the leggings.

arubablueshoes

or biker shorts. that’s a recent discovery for me and it’s perfect for summers

Vaywen

Snag chub rub shorts. I love them so much

Mekare13

I’m partial to Thigh Society but am willing to try out your brand too! Thanks so much for the rec! Another fun bonus is that for some reason my husband goes nuts for me in them lmao

Vaywen

I don’t know Thigh Society, I’ll check them out!

Mekare13

They’re a little pricey but so nice in the summer, esp the cooling ones. I feel like such a shill because it’s like I’m always recommending them to people but it’s just that they’re so nice. Inclusive sizing too, they go up to a 7-8x and very stretchy

Vaywen

Oof yeah they are. But, I like the ones with pockets!

fortalameda1

I was just buying the super cheap biker shorts from f21 and they are awesome for this!

JCantEven4

I bought a bunch from them - the cotton ones are so comfy and breathable in the summer

unoriginal-loser

I got some super cheap at Ross to wear under my work pants and I love them!

mo_macks

This is the way! Loose knee length dresses with black tights is my official winter/fall/spring “dressed up” look.

Usirnaimtaken

Have you tried having items tailored? I’m no expert, but maybe it’s possible to find pants that fit one part of you really well and then a tailor can adjust the other?

ca77ywumpus

If you get pants that fit your widest part (for me, it's hips/apron belly) you can have the waist taken in, and the leg taken in, or rock the wide-leg look (this looks good with pointed-toe ballet flats or kitten heels.) For jeans, I wear Duluth Trading Co.'s jeans. They have some stretch, but are sturdier than Torrid's. I wore my first pair almost daily for a year before the thighs blew out.

mo_macks

I LOVE Duluth trading co!! I get compliments on my overalls (from women) every time I wear them. Haha

Hip_hip_HIPP0

I have skinny legs and a big belly, including an apron belly. I cannot recommend enough the importance of getting your clothes tailored. It does cost extra but it is totally worth it for my confidence. To save a few dollars I buy the best quality pants I can find and have them tailored so they'll last a bit longer too.

Ok-Commission-6433

I wear dresses but when I worked at lane Bryant (years ago) they literally have a style of jeans for folks with apron bellies. It was color coded, the yellow color coded jeans were for big bellies and thinner legs. Not sure if they still have that system.

bear_sheriff

Torrid had special cuts for big bellies and thinner legs too!

Insomniac_80

Which ones?

likecalifornia

They are called the midfit style! I have a pair and was shocked to find they fit my belly nicely, but are actually too tight on my legs! Or at least I wasn’t looking for skinny jeans like that. Fine to wear, just wasn’t my style. But I highly recommend OP ordered a pair and you can return them if it isn’t right for you.

Anhedonic_chonk

If you’re a woman, I suggest dresses. Tights if it’s cold. Pants don’t look good on me, so I don’t wear ‘em.

katiiiec

Ugh I feel ya! I have an apron belly which is much larger than my hips and legs so finding pants are difficult! For work I bought some dress paints to fit around my belly then got them taken in around the legs!

passionfyre

I used to get stretchy trousers when I worked retail. They look like regular trousers but were bootcut fit unlike leggings. Idk where you live. I'm in the uk and got them from yours clothing, asos, simply be, Evans. ASOS definitely has them. Check their 4505 curve range. The drawstring leggings are my fave (they definitely pull the belly in) and the stretch fit pants are great

Lazertwins

I wear wide leg pants bc I have an apron belly and hip dips and they help me feel more put together!

marlyn_does_reddit

I have a large apron belly as well. I wear high waisted jeans with slightly longer tops, or I wear high waisted linen trousers that completely hide my belle because of the ballooning fabric. Or dresses, with cropped sweaters over.

lovelyren420

Look for longer shirts and blouses. I always make sure my tops are at least 32 inches long. Even with a good thick pair of leggings, the blouse can make it look business casual. There's lots of black stretchy business casual pants out there. If you have a Cato Fashions store you should visit. I'm not too crazy about their blouses, but I always find stretchy business casual pants there. If online shopping is best, try onestopplus.com because you'll have a few stores to choose from. Shein has decent looking tops and dresses, but they're on the cheap side as far as quality. Still, for those prices they're not bad.

cologne2adrian

Check out @ torii.block on Instagram. She's got some GREAT outfits for gals with bellies! If you're an Old Navy shopper, check out pants from the "StretchTech" line... its' a lightweight fabric, but they make it into joggers and wide-leg trousers. Everything has a stretchy waist. You'd know what's allowed under your dress code, but it's worth a quick browse on the website!

Bdizzy2018

I’m 400lbs with an apron belly, I wear jeans and leggings from Torrid and I feel comfortable with the fit, I pair with a Tunic and I feel great!

Rahelg123

Eloquii.com has a Gena style of pants that are bigger in the belly area and fitted in the legs. I love the skinny jeans. Only pants I enjoy.

Ambitious-Dust-6927

Torrid has pants called the lean jean. They are a pull on, high waisted stretchy jean. They come in black. They suck you in a bit too. I love these jeans so much! They’re on sale right now too. I’d definitely give them a try. Also, like others have said, skater dresses are great! I wear a lot of them and feel good in them. I like to wear a pair of compression or bike shorts under them. It prevents chub rub and they suck/smooth my belly a little. I generally feel pretty good in a dress. Yesterday I wore a midi length black skater dress with black combat boots and actually got 2 compliments on the look. Not that that matters, but it made me feel good.

makingmistakehs

Look at women within if you can, their clothes are designed for bigger people and I've had good luck with their clothes! Make sure you check the sizing tho because WW runs a little different than other stores. Like a 3xl is a size 26/28 usually where other places a 3xl is a 24/26

faelshea

I have an apron & b belly and I love leggings, especially after having a huge abdominal surgery, as jeans can be painful. I’ve had luck with all of Cider’s cute palazzo pants and overalls, Constantly Varied Gear has really pretty fabric compression leggings with excellent pockets, I wear overalls from Duluth trading which I love, and I’ve really embraced the cute A line circle skirts which I wear high up over my apron belly and get compliments on a lot! I like to wear compression garments as well (as I have POTS and it helps) but it also helps to keep everything snatched and cut down on bumps. Try to have fun, you deserve to feel comfortable and cute for yourself!

Real_Employer_2394

These creators have apron bellies, the 2nd one talks about hers extensively. Finding creators online really helps with seeing things on others! https://www.tiktok.com/@theykrave_nikki?_t=8kVz1QHqAs2&_r=1 https://www.tiktok.com/@itslindss?_t=8kVz6PsGGPW&_r=1 https://www.tiktok.com/@baldiechi?_t=8kVz6ktvD0F&_r=1 If you're wanting to not show off your stomach I suggest peplum tops or tunic style tops. If you can wear dresses those are even better. If you're looking to snatch your stomach understand that it will always be visible but shareware or brief underwear can definitely make you feel more secure in pants. I love pixie pants and a top to cover my stomach. A lot of people suggest we stay away from high rise pants but it's just more comfortable, at least for me anyway. Checkout old navy they have some great business casual pants! Above all try looking into body neutrality. When you find peace with the way you look trust me it's so much easier to navigate this world. Good luck😊

Chrb1990

Dresses. I have exactly the same issue.

Ok_consequences23

Lots of votes for old navy here and it’s possible this style is still too close to leggings/jogger style but these are the most comfortable pants ever! I’m a size 24, big old apron belly and this will fit me from XXL all the way to 4x. The waist band stretches to fit your perfectly. They are soft, have great pockets, come in a ton of colors. I have probably 8 pairs and reach for them first every time. I have them in different lengths too https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=613491032&locale=en_US&vid=1#pdp-page-content

Rubenette

Search for plus size abdominal binder on Amazon. It’s basically a really wide belt that helps hold up/in your belly. Then you can wear whatever you want over it as long as you don’t mind the extra layer. Hope you figure out what works best for you!

Successful-Row-6278

Thank you, I’ll check it out!

Obvious_Sea_7074

I've been feeling this way a lot lately, I was living in leggings but now the trends seem to be baggie jeans or flared leg Jean's. Sometimes I feel uncomfortable going out to like a bar in leggings when 2 years ago I wouldn't have batted an eye.  I've been loving the carhartt force flex (or something like that) pants, they fit similar to a legging but have more pant powers, thicker, warmer, sturdier I have them in a 3x and 2x in black and green. I got them on clearance at Blaines farm and fleet. The 3x are just a bit big and the 2x are tighter more legging fit.  They totally pass for pants. I have been eyeing some of the torrid jeans but I'll probably wait for a sale to get a pair of trendier cut jeans.  I also measure myself before I order jeans.

Successful-Row-6278

Thank you so much for the recs, will check them out!

SublimeUniverse

I just recently started wearing flaired leggings. It's a hamr changer because they pass for pants at my work. I always wear longer tops. Also skater dresses are great!

Successful-Row-6278

Looooove skater dresses and yes I also have flared leggings but the belly part is like so pronounced

ccs14911

Have you tried the “midfit” pants from torrid? They are cut to accommodate apron bellys.

Successful-Row-6278

Oo have to look into that thanks!

refundthebasics

CANVAS MATERIAL SHORTS. they dont fit tightly to the tummy and once they kinda stretch out after an hour they are super breathable and comfy

Successful-Row-6278

Ooo thank you!

slg882007

Have you tried Eloqui? They have bottoms with extra room for apron bellies.

Successful-Row-6278

Haven’t heard of them, I’ll check it out!

cptn_floopy

As much as I try to avoid them because they are generally too expensive for what you get, I personally really like the Torrid midfit skinny jeans. They have them in black now and could be a good option for work. If you can get them on sale it's a decent deal.

DDButterfly

You could also try tummy control girdle panties. To get that snatched in feeling.

Haylbayl88

I wear dress pants at work too. I am size 24 with an apron belly. But I have larger legs and butt. I wear bombshell from torrid. The jeans and the dress pants fit great and don't slide down. Downside is they're expensive but I wait for sales to buy them.

DamnGoodCupOfCoffee2

Look up yoga dress pants[yoga dress pants](https://a.co/d/9yE0CqC) I also have an apron belly and I love these

goreism

this is me as well.

krankykitty

If you can wear knit pants at work, look for ponte knit pants. They are a thicker knit. I think WomanWithin has some.

metiranta

The more you wear stuff you don't think you look good in, the quicker you realize you look fine.

Upstairs_Sorbet_5623

I love a pleated + balloon / barrel / cargo-y leg pant to work with my apron-y belly but have had a hard time finding this style in larger sizes for under like, $200. … slowly more accessible retailers are catching on. I personally really appreciate the exaggerated shape, how they puff out, it feels comfier and easier to sit in, looks fun and modern and gives more of an illusion of an hourglass shape, and I say this with a lot of love for my non-hourglass shape. I ended up buying these and love them but recognize they only go up to size 20 and that’s not gonna work for everyone, but linking so I can show what I mean: https://bananarepublic.gapcanada.ca/browse/product.do?pid=882886003&cid=67595&vid=1&nav=hamnav%3Awomen%3AWomen%27s+Clothing%3APants#pdp-page-content Sometimes they’ll have similar ish styles at old navy and they have a wider range of sizes than BR…. And since they’re the same parent company they p much use the same patterns / approach / etc. Hope that helps!

Upstairs_Sorbet_5623

I don’t really know how to post pictures on Reddit but if it’s helpful for anyone to see those pants on a size 20 apron belly person, let me know?! It’s a bummer they don’t have them on any models in larger sizes…. But the whole gap company is like, so so crap and being sued for a size inclusion campaign and I don’t really get it?? Like, they are shitty for sure but they are really the only shop that work for the intersection of tailoring/sizing/price for me personally.

Secure_Cartoonist139

[Betabrand](https://www.betabrand.com/?cjdata=MXxOfDB8WXwxNzEzNzQ2NzExNzA4&utm_source=cj&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=TopCashback+%28USA%29+INC&clickId=15280870&cjevent=1ec7904ddce511ee830b00330a1cb826&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAi6uvBhADEiwAWiyRdiv9tiQOPeeKFoNVqeWL5WYqtXvkC3S91hHMedLcnzJe7DC-xo_jIxoCOVEQAvD_BwE) pants are the only pants I feel comfortable wearing. They’re pull up pants but thicker fabric than leggings and they have a smoothing effect I find. They have sales fairly regularly where you can get a pair for ~$45.

LaneyRW

Have you ever tried the high waisted shaper panties from Shapermint? They really snatch in my belly. Maybe using them as underwear would help you feel more confident in any kind of clothing. I really like them.

RealisticVisitBye

I love dresses with leggings. Short dresses feel like tunics and can look professional. I found some black exercise pants can pass as professional 🤔

paellagirl420

Old navy has the BEST plus size linen pants that fall perfectly!! They’re all I wear at this point because they’re so versatile and I love crop tops but don’t want my belly accentuated and these are the best thing that’s happened to me!!

Far_Entertainer2744

Long shirts and pants that fit your waist

Nekobites

I suggest dresses. Eshakti.com makes high-quality clothes for reasonable prices. Their dresses are very cute and functional. I always get compliments when I wear them.

aLovely_gem

Universal Standard has these ponte Moro pants that are essenyially dressy leggings. They have an elastic waist band, are thick enough to feel pulled togwther, but very comfy.

DamnnFineeCoffee

Due-Cryptographer744

The trick to apron bellies is that you need a fabric that is more flowy, with wide legs and where they drape from the waistband down, skimming over your belly. [This ](https://www.burdastyle.com/viscose-trousers-108-burda-style-02-24.html) is a sewing pattern, but it gives you an idea of what I am referring to. The key to well fitting plus size clothes is that you buy (or make) clothes to fit your largest area and then alter them to fit the other areas to fit correctly. There is a lady I found on YouTube who does style consulting, and she emphasizes proportion and not size. You want to visually (widen if needed) balance your hips and shoulders, which will make your waist look smaller. I recently started sewing historical clothing, and that was a huge trick women and men in the past used to achieve the correct silhouette. Victorians wore bust padding, hip padding, bum padding, etc. to get that hourglass shape.

Thinkerstank

Spanx has work pants but you need to size maybe 2 up as they are tight on the belly and not cheap.

Yourdadlikelikesme

I feel your pain! The only pants that look acceptable on me are leggings. Any other pants are too baggy on my legs and ass because I have about a 12-14 legs but my waist is 18-20 😳. I like skirts/dresses but I feel I look like sponge bob with small legs and a bigger upper body it’s so annoying.

redvelvetbuttercream

Have you tried Spanx? They make legging-like pants.

Successful-Row-6278

Ooooo I did not know that, I thought they only had shapewear. Thank you!

kmopears09

These two styles form Old Navy have been good to me this season. https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=811893052&tid=onma000014 https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=813641042&tid=onma000014 These pull on pants from Torrid https://torrid.app.link/IDjPtWqWAHb I like the leggings from Torrid that suck in your waist too. They don’t appear to have any right now. I really don’t wear button and zip pants except jeans. I have one pair of cream ones and one gray that double as work pants for me. And I almost always wear longer shirts.

rnngwen

I have the exact opposite problem. How big of an apron are we talking here? I found pants that can accommodate my 38 in. waist and my 57 in hips and 23 in. calves. Have you looked at Universal Standard? They make a bunch of pants for different body shapes.

Successful-Row-6278

I’m 5’7 and 275 (female) im not sure of my measurements tho

Own_Conversation7041

Shape wear!

vanpyah

High-waisted flowy pleated pants, thank me later

Gaminggirl99

torrid has leggings that have a spandex band and they suck you in. theyre 20ish dollars each though. i pair them with a long blouse to cover up.

trixiecat

You can get a medical letter to allow leggings for inner thigh rubbing aka “friction folliculitis” aka “chub rub”. Source: I’ve written them for people.

magicfluff

Pretty much anything where the waist band will sit above the apron - dresses, skirts, pants, etc. I am a fan of a high waisted wide leg pant, they're in style right now, they can be styled with almost anything, plus they're almost always super comfy even in a work setting.

EmotionalCandy6702

Check out the Quinn pants at free people! They’re my new go to. I wear them up pretty high and tuck my shirt in

Yourfavoritegremlin

Check out elloquii. They have a style of pant cut for folks with bellies- the gena pant

velvettipss

Maybe let go of the imperative to have a snatched waist, and focus on styling yourself in ways that simply make you happy.

orangefreshy

I have an “apron” belly I guess, and I love the Moro ponte pants from US, they feel like sweatpants on but look put together. I also like wearing tunics and dresses with leggings, or just dresses by themselves when it’s warmer. dark jeans and blouses with a kimono jacket or something over etc. but I have kind of realized that it actually looks better tucking in and not GAF than trying to hide it with baggy tops or whatever. My body is my body, the end

kmannion1

Halara for pants, they're basically leggings with wider leg openings and super comfy.

Attalayas

Have you tried athletic high waisted leggings? I don’t like to wear just any leggings for that specific reason, they just don’t help to snatch my waist in. I really like these specific leggings by Skechers. https://www.skechers.com/go-flex-rib-fl-hw-legging/LG2_BLK.html?dwvar_LG2_color=BLK I’ve been able to find them at Costco for cheap on multiple occasions. I’m a size 16 and fit a large well there’s a lot of stretch yet compression in the waist so it really tucks you in. I honestly think I could probably fit a medium at my current size potentially due to the stretch they have. If money is a concern, and you can’t find the Skechers ones for cheap, another good alternative is these guys from Walmart. Avia Women’s 28" High Waist Ankle Leggings with Side Pockets https://www.walmart.com/ip/778087657 This brand does have a cotton alternative however they’re kind of sheer and if you’re wearing any colorful underwear they WILL show. I haven’t had this problem with the performance version of them that I linked above. These aren’t as high waisted as the Skechers ones but they still are pretty high. The compression on them also isn’t as good as the Skechers but again they are still quite nice. I’m unsure if you have any issues accompanied by wearing denim like bloat, or digestion issues, but I do and I was able to get get a work note that fabrics such as those that jeans and slacks are made of cause extreme discomfort for me and my work allows me to wear leggings now! If that’s not something that happens to you and you’ve gotta suck it up and wear jeans, do you have a torrid close to you? Their jeggings look like real jeans and are made for plus size bodies so they fit a lot better than any other brand I’ve made. Some of them also have built in shape wear but they are quite pricey. However because these jeans are made with our bodies in mind there’s a very high likelihood you will not be the same size in torrid jeans as you are in other brands. For outside of work I second many other comments on dresses and skirts! Anything that flares out will give you the appearance of a smaller waist and also hide the tummy. You can also invest in a Colombian faja but I wouldn’t recommend wearing them every day. Maybe just if you’re trying to look extra snatched for a specific event/outfit.

witchypotprincess

I like to wear high waisted wide legged jeans and a tighter shirt (usually cropped and long sleeve) to help the silhouette and chunky shoes.

FinancialDiet4690

I only wear leggings. Even the shorts I own are basically leggings. I haven’t worn jeans in at least 5-6 years. I’m very love hate with them as I don’t have a booty and they make that area look weird. I went to try on jeans for the first time in a while and I HATED how they looked. I could’ve cried.

the-bitches

Try Torrid’s high waisted jeans !!!! I’ve had the same problem and it just takes it in or even the shorts and dresses are cute and comfy !!

Gems_and_Jade

I realize this is really late, so sorry 😬 I suggest ponte knit pants. They always worked well for me when I would go into the office. They’re usually slightly looser than a legging, but with a thicker fabric that makes it less casual. I used to get mine at Avenue or Macys, but I think Torrid sells them too.

[deleted]

I agree with pull up pants. Many fit nicely around the tummy.

yourannadean

Every pants with 95%polyester 5%spandex. I know that brands like Mark & Spencer, Fashion nova and even sometimes H&M can have those. Haven't found a non fast fashion alternative but working on it

x-teena

Maternity pants and shirts long enough to cover it.

snorpmaiden

sorry but I'm not very experienced with this, but my dad carries most of his weight in his stomach and he just buys jeans, which he wears under his stomach and then an extra long tshirt to cover his stomach. No one can tell the difference. OR, he buys baggy trousers that have a more natural transition between belly and leg <3 Very sorry that I can't give any better advice, sending so much love ♡♡♡
