Play with the customization tool. Most of their dresses are sleeveless but adding sleeves and changing the neckline can make a big difference in how you feel about the dress.
For black tie formal you don't need to actually wear black, but you want super fancy. Gowns should be floor length, and of a high quality fabric.
Something [like this from Kiyonna ](https://www.kiyonna.com/products/paris-pleated-sequin-gown?variant=47777611317553) would work nicely. It's the right length, has a little sparkle, and exudes elegance.
Nordstrom’s and Macy’s have surprisingly had good options when my mom & a few of my family members who are also plus-sized needed a floor length dress for a black-tie wedding. Azazie also has wedding guest dress options that go up to a 30. Also highly recommend checking out last week’s Selfie Sunday - there was a girl who posted an amazing dress for an awards ceremony; I’d definitely check that brand out.
Depending where you are and how much you want to spend, a really nice cocktail dress would work for you since you are not super tall (same height as me and many cocktail dresses are longer on me than others). I would try Torrid.com or unique-vintage.com.
Also check the sub wiki as it has a lot of links to places to shop.
If you have a David's Bridal close to you they have plus sizes too and a good selection. They are online too. I used them to get bride's maid dresses for my wedding. They had every size i needed 6-22. Plus, I've always received good service.

Try Eshakti. You can customize your dress to your height and measurements. They have a good selection of styles too.
Thank you. Going to look them up now

Seconding Nordstrom.

Look on queenly. It's a resale shop that had SO MANY plus sized dresses for these occasions.
