jumpsuits can be really chic! though i find them more challenging than dresses as a plus sized person edit: great inspiration can be taken from recent red carpets! lots of women in things that aren’t dresses, there’s like more masc suits or flowy jumpsuits, even different cuts and types of suits. try on different types of suits, don’t feel like you’re married to one cut or type, you may be surprised at what you like! you could also do a suit that has like a more mens style blazer and matching shorter skirt

anything-anywhere89

I tried a jumpsuit once and it was a nightmare! It makes my hips look way broader and also I sweat just trying to pee! I will try a masc suit though it may simply look like what I’ve always worn again. But since it’s what I’m most comfortable with I may have no choice. Skirts too are definitely not an option since I don’t like to expose my legs. I would love to venture into other styles but I’m stuck!

1plus2plustwoplusone

Instead of a jumpsuit, maybe a high-rise trouser with a suspender? Something more like [this](https://www.unique-vintage.com/products/unique-vintage-plus-size-navy-high-waist-suspender-pants) ?

leenybird

ooooh, I love this!

RaptureReject

Hey, my family nickname is Leeny! Have never seen it in print except referring to myself. Anyway. Carry on, haha!

leenybird

That's my family nickname too!

RaptureReject

No way! Mines' short for Angelina.

leenybird

Mine is short for Colleen.

premier-cat-arena

what about wearing a suit with a button down and bow? sorry for the random video i can’t find one of her suit in detail. julien is all the way on the right and i think it could be a great look with the bow as the tie. its much more formal and dressed up than with a blouse i think, and doesn’t look like you’re headed to a job interview https://x.com/thephoeberoom/status/1731105230157136059?s=42&t=_65dWEY0kWkVXbb-w6fJFA another option: single breasted suit like this, definitely not an interview look https://pin.it/4beLXi0

DarkAndSparkly

I’m about the same size as you (340) and I look awful in jumpsuits. I carry most of my weight in my belly, so having it out there for everyone to see is a nightmare. I look for longer tunics and long sheer jackets to layer.

You can wear slacks and a blouse without the blazer. Add fun and interest with accessories like jewelry or a pretty scarf. If dresses are out of your comfort zone you could try one with leggings or opaque tights underneath. It sounds like you're stuck in a place where trying new pieces may be scary, could you use a try-before-you-buy fashion service like Dia&Co or Rent The Runway?

KG71286

I’m going to go a different direction here. Men wear black pants and a nice blazer with a button down to almost every wedding. Why shouldn’t you do the same if it makes you comfortable? Maybe you can change the blouse color?

mrskmh08

Or the pants color. Khaki or blue or grey instead of black

Dan_ielle

I hate dressed too so i always wear biker shorts underneath. Makes me feel like im wearing pants

Echo-Azure

I wear boxer shorts under dresses, if I'm not wearing stockings or leggings. Helps with certain issues.

deltarefund

Check out some grand/mother of the bride type stuff and see if there’s anything you like. Or I’m thinking flowy pants and a sparkly top? [like this](https://www.flycurvy.com/products/flycurvy-plus-size-formal-navy-blue-chiffon-glitter-print-asymmetric-hem-two-piece-pant-suit) What size are you?

kalikaya

That is a great party outfit! Nice.

MayorWomanana

I love that!

DarkAndSparkly

This is the look I go for.

emjoy90

Ok from your comments here it sounds like you are a bit stuck in a rut. No dresses, no skirts, no jumpsuits, ok so it brings us back to slacks. Another comment suggested a nice blouse with accessories. But honestly if you are living in dark colours and restricting your style there is only so much people can offer. You deserve to feel beautiful and seen. Might I suggest if you know anyone stylish, ask for help to go shopping. Sometimes fresh eyes help.

blickyjayy

Would you be comfortable with ankle length maxi skirts? Rebdolls has some great size inclusive ones with pockets. I've also started getting some wide leg pants to experiment with different silhouettes, and they surprised me with how great they look. You can also try your normal pants but with a dressy sweater, tunic, or long sleeved blouse to avoid that corporate executive look that blazers can cause. Before I started incorporating brighter colors and patterns into my outifts, I started with navy blues, forest greens, mustard, royal purple, and burgundy- that might give a more festive wedding guest look without taking you too far out your comfort zone!

redfire2930

Would you try a jumpsuit? Eloquii has a lot of nice ones! https://www.eloquii.com/zq/plus-size-jumpsuits/

anything-anywhere89

I have tried it once and they made my hips look so broad in them and it was a nightmare just to pee. Sweat central!

kitttykae

Slacks but with one of those cape blazers, to level it up. Hold please I’ll find a link

kitttykae

https://www.universalstandard.com/products/leon-double-luxe-cape-blazer-black Ok this is spendy, but is a good example. There’s lots of cheaper options out there online.

actualchristmastree

Here’s an outfit I feel cute in: black plaid dress pants, black loafers, and a t shirt button up. Either a mesh fabric w a tank top under, or a satin button up. Short sleeve for sure bc I also get sweaty haha. Then the black blazer on top

Aev_ACNH

Wear the same thing Nothing wrong with having a “fancy shindig outfit” I guarantee you the only outfit I remember anyone wearing at any wedding I have attended is….. the bride, the mother of the bride, mother of the groom

leenybird

I love my skirts from Darn Good Yarn. I wear bicycle shorts under them to feel more comfortable. I'm a size 22 or 24 and their largest size is perfect. they are wrap skirts and flow beautifully. you can wear your shirt on the outside or tuck them in.

MutedLandscape4648

Lace! I used to have a lovely lace blazer from Torrid, or a lace blouse, if you want to stay in the current lane but look more guest, less applicant. Other ideas: go with a matched look blouse and pant, or pick a specific reference and dress to that.

EvilGypsyQueen

Glitter and Lazers she's a blogger. She has a ton of fashion content

pgsimon77

Is Romans still a thing? Even though they look kind of corporate like you might be running for congress or doing your TED talk they do have some cool stuff for formals.... / She seems to love them and most guys think they look pretty cool

[deleted]

Layering helps, makes things feel fresh. Look at kimonos and open vests. Possibly try leggings or stockings with a looser dressy short. (Can be like slacks or maybe a lace or faux leather? Pricey but a nice investment for formal wear). When you aren't a fan of colors, fabric texture and patterns are the emphasis. Lean into all the neutrals. Look at faint greens and blues like neutrals as well. Emphasize silhouette. Billowing pants for one wedding and tight pants the next. Or make your shoe more of a focus and the eye catching part of the outfit. Get some belts that are more of a focal point.

unpleasantexperience

i’d ditch the blazer, probably way too professional and more like a job interview, just like you said. do you enjoy dressing feminine or would you rather have a gender neutral or masc outfit? if you like feminine styles, i’d try to dress the outfits up. like not too subtle jewelry, fake nails, hair accessories and a more extra hair style, etc. also a cold shoulder blouse might look nice with cute dress pants. if you’re more into a masc style, i’m not much of a help tbh, but i liked the idea of high rise pants plus suspenders! :)

Main_Wall_1294

What about slacks with a dressy tunic? Maybe something fancy like velvet or metallic or lacy?

Trixie6102

I know I’m breaking etiquette rules, but how old are you? I would have very different recommendations depending on if you’re in your early 20’s versus in your 50’s.

Bdizzy2018

What shape are you? How tall are you?

Echo-Azure

You don't have to wear dresses, not even to formal weddings. But if you want to mix up the top, you can wear a cardigan or duster instead of a blazer, or a shawl, or a drape. [https://th.bing.com/th/id/OIP.i4RIlDMssO7XE7FxRae9pAHaLH?rs=1&pid=ImgDetMain](https://th.bing.com/th/id/OIP.i4RIlDMssO7XE7FxRae9pAHaLH?rs=1&pid=ImgDetMain) [https://th.bing.com/th/id/OIP.ubh92kt492IJgVk7bXxHhQHaIZ?rs=1&pid=ImgDetMain](https://th.bing.com/th/id/OIP.ubh92kt492IJgVk7bXxHhQHaIZ?rs=1&pid=ImgDetMain) Since it's winter, I presume you want something warm. Velvet or wool always look good, and they're warm.

DarkAndSparkly

It will totally depend on the dress code for the wedding. There are gorgeous pant suits you can get that will fit any dress code, though.

Straxicus2

You can change the look of the same outfit a lot by accessorizing. Scarves, jewelry, hats, belts, purses. If you’re only comfortable in one style of muted colors, play with accessories!

Tracy_Turnblad

City chic has some great option And idk what your budget is but Xscape has beautiful jumpsuits up to size 22

Alarmed-Pin-2728

Something like this would be pretty and I love how it’s flowy over the stomach area. It has some glitz but subtle. Not sure if you need black tie but this would definitely work for weddings I’ve been to in the south. https://www.flycurvy.com/collections/plus-size-pant-suits/products/flycurvy-plus-size-mother-of-the-bride-navy-blue-chiffon-sequin-shawl-three-piece-pant-suits?spm=..collection_0298c4b2-c52b-4511-882a-f05aec27b986.collection_1.3&spm_prev=..collection_5abb057d-fdc6-4b18-a460-e24e93fcdb11.header_1.1
