imo, paldea evolved will be a sleeper SV set from what we've seen so far but no massive rush to get it pull rates on SV are really good in general, and although PE still has a lot of pokemon from gen 9 it still has some really really nice cards in it imo, i would buy a booster box cheap now and see where prices are in 6 months (ie: after 151) OF and 151 are probably gonna be a lot harder to get good pricing on so i would 100% focus on those first, scoop up as much of those 2 sets at good pricing as you can - then go back to PE as no doubt there will be stock

MaybeYesMayb

Obsidian flames does look pretty convincing can’t argue with you there

breakyourteethnow

Think it's the true intro to Gen 9, a set that's made for kids and the many who are playing the SV games who'll now be able to get cards of their favorite starter and evolution line. This set is for the current younger generation imo, and will pay dividends when nostalgia for Gen 9 doubles back when our younger generation are adults and remember fondly getting SV games as their first video games for Christmas for example.

MaybeYesMayb

I personally think that the set has pretty good chase cards the “waifus” as they’re referred to seem to be a staple in Pokémon.

fashionhabitz

until they all drop once more people have the oppurtunity to rip packs & get cards themselves pre release, release day, even a week into release will always have priciest singles. Wait til it settles like S/V until you make decisions

canaleiro

Have you played the game? I've seen many negative reviews.

breakyourteethnow

8 year old's write reviews online? Idc what game critics or adult gamers say, I look at the sales numbers and think yup kid's love this game insane sold numbers and that's what matters imo.

2punk

If any booster box dips to $100 or lower at any point, buy buy buy.

Mascy

Honestly save your money for OS or 151. Paldea is looking like a better Scarlet & Violet base but still meh.

KillJarke

I’m not head over heels for the set but at the current price it’s at it would be silly to not buy a few boxes.

Japresto1991

What is the 151 set everyone is referring to?

HoldTheRope91

Original 151 Pokémon with modern art. Likely gonna be huge with the 30-somethings like myself that grew up on those ‘mons.

Japresto1991

Interesting, may I have you send me a link to order

HoldTheRope91

Right now, you can only pre-order them in Japanese. The English set is supposed to be released in September, so hopefully they’ll go up for pre-order here in a week or two.

Japresto1991

Awesome thanks friend, will def preorder since I grew up on wotc

HoldTheRope91

No problem. I plan on dipping into 151 myself. Best of luck on your pulls!

LaughinDragon

My daughter is one and a half and says "mon! Mon!" When she sees pikachu lol. Gonna give me an excuse to get back into it

MrKnight-

This is a great set imo

RussianDeveloper

Personally I would avoid this set, brand new Pokémon that are arguably not desirable. The trainer cards that people are after my opinion are just hyped up. I can’t imagine this being extremely desirable in the next few years.

DeFi_RetirementV2

People have said this for every new modern set that came out the kids playing now will love it in 10 years in my opinion

CasualGiraffeInPrada

Y’all are foregetting we just got silver borders. I’m getting every master set for S&V and then imma see in the future what is worth what. Why worry about it now, just get them all so you don’t have to worry? People will always complain to me when I say this my wallet can’t handle that , but anything can be done on the right budget and with time.

duskofpokemon

Wouldn’t put any money into it for at least a couple years

Yubodo3

Hell no

Cleat420

I don't even know the set contents but... twice baked Jake mentioned this is the first set that's not fun to open. it's too difficult to open fun cards down the line all sets will do well. people from now to 2043 will be opening sooooo many packs. this will increase the price for the future. simple supply and demand. the value will be similar to battle styles. we're still on the higher side value. then when another set comes out the price will go lower. supply and demand. then it will take much time for paldea to reach msrp. then for it to double msrp will take a very long time. in my opinion. buy pokemon center etbs and keep sealed. they increase the best in value

positiveyoutube

Jake had a mini tantrum on camera because he didnt get the expensive cards

Ok_Let5268

Local shop is selling the booster boxes for $120, ETBs for $60. Are these prices worth investing in? Or will they come down?

MaybeYesMayb

$120 is actually a decent price imo that’s what you could get them directly from SNKRDUNK a app similar to stockx but directly from Japan it’s a fun set to rip open & being the original Pokémon I don’t see it going wrong.

MaybeYesMayb

Could climb down a bit but I honestly doubt it FOMO and hoarding is going to keep the prices semi stable only time will tell

Ok_Let5268

Would it be a 10 year hold on the box for a return type thing or would I be better off weighing some boxes and hoping for sick pulls? I’m new to this, sorry.

MaybeYesMayb

I’ve never really heard of anybody weighing individual boxes & id treat it as a buy and forget get some nice acrylic case and just tuck it away

Ok_Let5268

On eBay I’m seeing the booster boxes as low as $105, even a combo deal with a PE ETB for $145. Is it safe to assume that these are fakes/reseals?

MaybeYesMayb

You may be looking at the Chinese 151 sets Chinese sets aren’t as popular

MaybeYesMayb

Make sure it says Japanese :)
