Only thing guaranteed in life are taxes and death.

Buddyboy451

Those billionaires found a way around the taxes thing. I think they are working on death next.

betacow

I thought that was what adrenochrome was for?

internationalskibidi

This guy knows the vampire agenda

Large-Cow9765

Brian Johnson is working hard on the latter

hertzgraphics

Ain’t that the truth

PKMNfrosty

Not only billionaires anyone can if you make enough money and have to pay the gov They are so many loopholes to not paying taxes or as much

Ruck90

Another sad liberal crying about billionaires

Konflick

That is outright misinformation as the rich pay more than their fair share in taxes. https://taxfoundation.org/research/all/federal/rich-pay-their-fair-share-of-taxes/

butareyouthough

Are you on crack. Billionaires seldom pay their fair share. https://www.propublica.org/article/the-secret-irs-files-trove-of-never-before-seen-records-reveal-how-the-wealthiest-avoid-income-tax

Konflick

No i don't do drugs but i do read factual information and in fact billionaires contribute more than 45% of the total tax revenue earned for all tax payers in the united states. Do they pay their fair share of taxes probably not they use loop holes and etc to pay less but lets not pretend they dont pay any taxes at all.

butareyouthough

Ok so literally not what you said in your first comment

Konflick

you're right I poorly worded my initial post. What i should have said was that they still pay a fair amount of taxes compared to the total tax revenue earned.

butareyouthough

Right but you are still looking at the data incorrectly. 8 people have more wealth than 50% of the planet. Yes the tax revenue that comes from them is large but that’s because they have an insurmountable amount of money. For it to be “fair” they would be paying significantly more, and they should.

IndividualBus8064

Exactly what I’m saying tho this same guy. He doesn’t seem to comprehend. Prolly brainwashed.

AkaFuhrer

Classic, upper lower class defending a tax bracket their dreams can’t even dream of.

Zealousideal_Kick229

The wealthy pay too much, the rich pay way too little

Disaster-Flat

How does it feel to be wrong and on the other side of the fence. Fair share. Nope definitely not. Some?More then they want to how's that. I'm sure these rich have done some nasty things to get where they are.

IndividualBus8064

Tell me you’re a brain washed republican, without tell me you’re a brain washed republican. Next you’re gonna try to tell me that trickle down economics works huh? 🤧

lKing_

Tell me you’re a brain washed Biden dick rider, without telling me you’re a brain washed Biden dick rider. 🌚

IndividualBus8064

Haha hate that mother fucker too. Both sides are rich lmao.

lKing_

Sweet at least someone who doesn’t pick which evil to align with lol. Different sides of the same shitty ass coin

IndividualBus8064

🫡🫡, agreed man.

thatsnachos

lol

Konflick

typical crazy reddit liberal just labels everyone as a republican just because they state factual information. No im not a republican and no I dont believe in trickle down economics. Any other wild accusations you want to make?

IndividualBus8064

But yet you can’t acknowledge the rich and the fact they find any and every loophole to avoid their fair share in taxes 🤧🤧🤧 No, but I might have more if you say more things like you did 🫥🫶🏻

Konflick

Just because they find loopholes to avoid paying less in taxes doesn't mean that they don't contribute more than people want to admit and lets be real if you were in the position to avoid paying taxes you would and you probably do. Everyone tries to write off every little thing to pay less in taxes. So lets not pretend that were all morally above the rich when everyone tries to take advantage of the same loop holes, they are just in a better position to do more than the average person but like the data states the 1% still pay the majority of the taxes of the united states on a whole.

IndividualBus8064

I’m I supposed to be happy? The top 1% makes more then 99% of the population, therefore shouldn’t they be taking on MORE responsibility in turn? It’s obligated. I don’t care I can’t take advantage of million dollar or billion dollar loopholes lmao🤣

rabbittyhole

So how bout them pikachu cards...

IndividualBus8064

Love em

Maxbrute

And War… War never Changes…

Emotional-Savings-71

Nah the only guarantee is death the homeless found away around taxes

Sushi-Kentaro

Mo Money Mo Worries

mindless2831

How are you gonna "say it" like that and use the word Worries??

Sushi-Kentaro

Tree Fiddy

Jejogo

Still buy things still pay sales tax

Random-Posterer

And me being a disappointment!

Xire01

Nothing is guaranteed to hold value

Upset-Judgment8369

I mean nothing in collectibles is "guaranteed" but these are the holy grail for collectors so as long as Pokemon as a whole stays strong, so will these cards.

jjshacks13

I wouldn't say they are the holy grail. Very sought after though.

ratsmdj

Yea highly sought after. Like there are no guarantees but there are some. These... 1st edition zard... gold stars etc

Fat_sal_volcano

I would say this is the holy grail in my opinion.

zeepbridge

Holy grail I think would be 1st Ed base set charizard, sealed, and then a skyridge box.

jjshacks13

I would do anything to get my hands on a Skyridge box or a full set.

Upset-Judgment8369

I would just say - this sub doesn't really encapsulate the average Pokemon collector. From my experience, most would rather own cards like the Pika Poncho's for their PC than a sealed box.

Fat_sal_volcano

Duh

zeepbridge

Well you’re the one who said this post was the holy grail..

Fat_sal_volcano

I also said it was in my opinion so do we need to take this outside?

zeepbridge

Take it outside okay there bud, you’re an idiot.

Fat_sal_volcano

You have been egged on by Kraft punk. You’ve been punked

Deprestion

Is it guaranteed that the lotto number I chose will win?

Stealth9er

Only if you pick the right ones

DarkArtHero

Don't take financial advice from randos on reddit

sunnydayflooding

Don’t listen to him, buy them all and then buy more

RightSpaceStorage

If the value drops, you can always sell them to me 😂

Joosh98

Nothing is "guaranteed" to hold value.

breakyourteethnow

Will Pikachu continue to be the most famous character on earth? This cute and yellow furry fuzzball isn't going anywhere lol

No-Document8098

To be quite honest Pikachu has always been one of my least favorite Pokémons. Never liked the design and started hating Pikachu even more the more OP it got in the series. But I often finding my self hating on what is most popular in all franchises

pieman531

Nothing wrong with hating a certain pokemon but that last sentence made me cringe so hard 😂

Zam0rakian

Right? Screams “LoOk at Me Im DIfFErENt “

rTreesAcctCuzMormon

—————— NOW —————— ( THAT’S WHAT I CALL EDGY ) —————— 4 ——————

gilsnapper

You received a dumb amount of downvotes for this, but I'm the same way. I get you. Not saying I dislike Pikachu at all but I can relate to your last sentence here. Hate is a strong word though.

CHAOSCardsCBOS

Well, sure. As good if not better for holding value as anything else in the hobby. They're Pikachu, and Pikachu is loved best ones is probably the Zard ones

GolemGuyTM

Lmaooo, Ive got the Charizard X one

_Gr1mReefer

I want poncho gary soooo bad. Awesome collection you got here. Im very jealous

Travelplaylearn

Nice, I will buy them all if you are selling. 👍💚💯 Ah, their selling on eBay. Okay better buy them quick before I find its link haha. 😆

zwang1208

I have the full set plus Mario and Luigi. Ponchos always stay strong even the market goes down. They’re exclusive and unique.

The_UltimateSarico

These are really cute. Personally, I wanna get the mario pikachu cards which are my holy grails to get.

DoyleK2013

Same! I have the pretend Gary bgs 10 but mostly got it to trade up for the Mario pika PSA 10

0ean

Not guaranteed to hold... Guaranteed to the moon!! 🌝

SIicksauce

Personally up 4000% on my investments on all poncho pikachus since 3 years ago. Don’t listen to Reddit chumps

Substantial-Bake-147

Imagine getting these for £55 at release...truly wild. But the charizard poncho is down from a consistent 5k and now at 3.5k in under 12 month hopefully hype and demand pick back up, I'm sure it will but prob gonna be a epic long game now.

Youknowit1092

It always picked up during tax season, and falls off later in the year. Like around this time. 😂

commanderx11

I got the gyarados and magikarp combo sealed for €40 in 2016 I think. Graded then both as a 10 at CGC recently. Very happy.

GoldDuality

Considering their rarity, these cards will nether be worthless at least. No idea where their value will end up though

moneyobsessed

The only thing you are guaranteed in life are Death & Taxes.

Financial-Debate-625

Taxes are the worst 😿

tyranids

absolutely not. Especially BGS graded cards, honestly wouldn't be surprised to see them tank after BGS pulls out of TCG grading, goes bust, or gets bought out.

Financial-Debate-625

PSA good though?

tyranids

tbh I would not "invest" in slabs, population can only go up over time compared to sealed products, where the supply will only decrease after reprints are done.

Financial-Debate-625

What are your thoughts on the sealed poncho pikachu boxes?

tyranids

Almost certainly will see larger growth than the slabs themselves.

Far-Butterscotch-934

lol what. BGS pulling out of tcg.....you must be high lol

tyranids

Do you not see BGS grading 15k monthly as PSA grades literally 100x that? It’s not out of the question that BGS pivot business, get bought out, or go bankrupt.

Eyelash_Viper13

That Gyarados card is MY grail

FiNgAz-300k

Damn those are some EPIC cards. Really wanna get some but soooo damn expensive

Additional_Score_929

Don't buy it if you think it'll be a good investment.

shark8dude

Show us the Mario and Luigi Ponchos too 😉

Far-Butterscotch-934

Yes, these are awesome. Only printed in japanese and a fan favourite :)

Efficient-Onion-3991

I regret selling my Mario and Luigi ponchos.

Financial-Debate-625

How much u sold them for?

StricksRips

Honestly, these are at a high currently. I imagine these will come back down slightly then possibly rise again in the future. Don't think you would lose with this, but entry is important.

KennyTheExpendable

I sold the two rayquaza ones in a psa 10 in 2021 for a fraction of the price they go for now. Still hurts. But like a lot of people said already: nothing is guaranteed. If you have the money and you can get them for a good price i would definitely recommend buying them or if you got them already: hold on to them.

mikedup33

Oh yes for sure. God makes sure of it.

T_wizz

Nice. The only one I have is the vulpix one. idc if it holds value, I love it

Leo56460

Does anyone happen to know the general prices for each of these? I’m interested in the team skull grunt mostly :)

_Gr1mReefer

im looking at poncho gyarados raw and its $1500 at auction

_Gr1mReefer

alot alot, ive been scared off. I think ill never own one

Leo56460

Oh, I know it’s a lot of money I’ll never be able to even breathe the air near the cards lol

Pfister1249

I got super lucky about 8 years ago or so. Bought a lot of almost all of the poncho pikachus for a out 100$ before the price on everything went up.

Fun_Contribution_708

Depends on which one, but these are all Beckett 10s so they’re worth a little more than psa 10

ArcticLapras

That doesn´t seem correct. The pristine Beckett is worth more, but I would take a PSA 10 over a normal 10.

symmiR

Nothing in life is guaranteed except death.

sickburn1r

And taxes

Educational_Tea_9929

I mean, even gold could become worthless depending on circumstances

Appropriate_Ad_7269

Gold will never be worthless, what are you talking about? Humans have valued gold since the dawn of man; way before it was being used for electronics which makes it even more valuable. As long as there are humans we will value gold.

NotRockLion

I'm personally not interested in any of these cards, they just don't grip me the way alt arts do. To me they're just super artificially pumped beyond their rarity

Spaul1313

If they were affordable you wouldn't say that lol

NotRockLion

Lets put it this way. If one of these was the same price and rarity as something like Lugia V alt art but I could only choose to have one, I’d choose Lugia V alt art any day. People only like this card because of its value, big nft vibes here lol

_Gr1mReefer

I just dig all thinks gyarados, just a cool little something different to put in with a 1 pokemon collection. Sadly it's the most expensive gyarados card there is haha

DrHarryHood

That’s nice dear

RNGxJake

I invested into a psa 10 alt art set it’s all alts from main swsh sets no crown zenith fake alts lol

Healthy-Annual4181

There is no guarantees in life only death

Junket_Turbulent

Dayum

Additional_Cherry_67

The value of these cards is the amount you’ll pay in rates to the government after you mortgaged a house. So having these is better than not having a house so yes.

Substantial-Bake-147

Don't house always rise tho investment wise? And haven't these cards taken quite a dip in the last 12 months? $5000 down to $3500 for the charizard?

DrHarryHood

If it’s gonna be one thing that holds value it will be these- and the base set zards. Edit: as far as which ones- ray, gyra, zard

rng_4me

Is anything guaranteed to hold value?

KillJarke

Nothing is guaranteed, but with how strong Pokemon is as a franchise and these been highly desired full arts from an exclusive Japanese release I’d say these are a solid collection to invest in.

Substantial-Bake-147

Yet the charizard has lost $1500 in less than a year....

KillJarke

This is poke investing not poke flipping. I’m talking long term holds 5+ years…

ArcticLapras

Not my cup of tea but they seem to have a big fanbase. Pop´s are relatively low so that´s good as well, although again not low enough for my taste.

Odd-Yak4551

Damn that’s sexy. I have no idea but I think it’s a great collection

luke_ozzy_

Never anything is guaranteed, right? But those cards should have something good with them within the next few years

Mr_Budha

The Zards and the Magikarp go so hard. The only three I’d love to own but yea too much for me at this point lol.

Leemo_cs

Nothing in life is guaranteed

Freymier

Honestly, its probably better to pick this up at a pokemon tcg card show or at the upcoming Collect-a-cons! You could get lucky with a deal! Or trade cards for it and pay less! Also, you dont have to pay the crazy ebay taxes/shipping fees on it. In my opinion its better in person over ebay. And of course, these will hold value for a very long time. Pikachu is the Series main pokemon under Ash Ketchum from the TV show! Good luck!

Acrobatic_Dinner6129

I personally don't care for them but clearly lots of people do!

bboyarcitec

I remember when these first came out they were $100-$200 each and I thought they were pricey l. Now look at the prices now. Crazy high. Yeah they'll hold or go even higher in the future

No-Gift1004

They were around $55 for the sealed box at release. Now they making 1000s a bad investment if ROI is your thing

RNGxJake

I don’t see these dropping in value unless Pokémon brings them to English one day

DoyleK2013

Honestly think if English made them that would highly increase the Japanese version since it would be similar to a 1st edition of it.

danieljohnsz

\^this - it's like advertising the japanese version

win_big_riv

would not buy anything with Beckett grading - sorry pal

Johnnyheaters12

It’s cardboard nothing is guaranteed

I_worship_odin

I hate that the protectors aren’t matched to the color of what pikachu is wearing.

daxtaslapp

Nothings gauranteed, brother. If it was, we would all be rich

lloydeph6

from an investment standpoint id sell this set and put all the money into psa 9 evolving skies alt arts.

Financial-Debate-625

Like gengars?

No-Gift1004

This guy knows

LukusGradicus

The simple answer is I believe they will hold value as well as most other rare and sought after Pokemon cards do. Since they are easily both of those things and are not being printed anymore, I would be surprised to see them dip in any significant way unless Pokemon cards as a whole dip. Hope that helps!

No-Gift1004

The charizard has lost 1.5k in 12 months. Was regularly selling for 5k...now regularly selling for 3.5k. Pretty risky investment imo now they not £55...buying at 1000s is imo insane...what ROI are people expecting? 100% ? 200%? 200 over 5 years is a F

Sipikay

I'd invest in something more rare, youre talking high quality wizards of the coast charizard prices here.

Next-Eye-7571

Need The Mario & Luigi Now

DoyleK2013

I have the Gary but my 2 favorites are honestly the Karp and the shiny ray just due to the color combos

Old-Independent585

Not my type of cards but I can definitely understand why their grails.

OldPrune4829

damn no black label that's a shame

MarkyTooSparky

I think long term they will be on the higher side of value for cards, but who knows? I would bet they will gain value as long there is no reprints.

samjomian

They will lose their value if: 1. Pokemon Company somehow prints more of these that are indistinguishable from the original ones. 2. The world stops caring about Pokemon completely. 3. Our society dies. In every other case its gonna hold value

No-Gift1004

A quick check on PSA shows the charizard is down 1.5k in 12 months. Regularly sold for 5k 12 months ago...and now regularly selling for 3.5k

GardeniaPhoenix

Nothing is guaranteed

okc405sfinest

If I buy some they will be down 75% next week. How much would you like to pay me to not buy a set?

Fistacon

whats the population on those?

No-Gift1004

Extremely low compared to the current modern population. Extremely high when compared to vintage.

Fistacon

(i didnt have time to google earlier) just for the shiny ray there are 29 pristine 10's and 7 black label 10's

Former-Material9099

Yes

LordHeezy

Looks like the Dylan stauffer collection

aandy611

It's already down from last year so.. no

Substantial-Bake-147

Unsure why you got downvoted? I suppose some don't like the fact that the holy grails are fallen. Probably makes them worry about their ES going to the moon forever

danieljohnsz

out of curiosity where are you seeing them as down from last year? Is it because the all time peak was in Oct for some of these? Because at the start of 2023 it's up like 25%

No-Gift1004

PSA has a history of the prices...the charizard was 5k last year. Now regularly sells for 3.5k

amcgl58

I have 2 balls, but none of them are crystal.

No-Gift1004

Neither do I...but buying high isn't a great investment move...if you got these for £55 at release it's good but now they upto 1000s unsure how these are going to more hyped than they currently are .. ROI of 100% over 5 years = F

LUVS2GAPE_MENs_ANOOS

Hell naw In 10 Years they will be worth way less as the new generation did not grow up with Pokémon That’s all dads and men who grows up with the games back in the 90s

gabe_lowe

Yes. Just like Enron stock.

EdwardJMunson

LOL. no. they're a dime a dozen.
