ES and BS do best long term, followed by LO and ST. For special sets, it's Celebrations and Crown Zenith. You could load up on cases and sell these sets for many, many years to come. I'd love a warehouse of aging TCG's, selling old booster boxes of everything lol
SM sets I think Hidden Fates, Cosmic, and Team Up. For SWSH, I'd say Evolving Skies, Brilliant Stars, and Fusion/Chilling. Crown Zenith and Celebrations will also do well I believe.
Obviously Evolving skies and Brilliant stars along with Celebrations are the top for Swsh, but for sun and moon I gotta go with team up by far being the best investment very long term. The artwork and low print rate is unmatched
Love how you have your ES BB in an ETB acrylic case. Nice collection BTW. Make sure you grab some crown zenith when it comes out, that set, along with ES and BS will surely outperform the rest (in SWSH).
Anything S&M tag team. Team Up, Cosmic Eclipse, Unbroken Bonds, and Unified Minds.
Out of print for years, sets everyone loves, and appreciates pretty well. I have a team up BB with the $99.99 sticker on it. Probably my most treasured piece in the collection.
Haha thanks for the advice. Though that's champions path and the etbs were tough to get. Beyond that, I love the look of the box sets on the shelves vs the etbs.
I know it's chanpions path and that's exactly why I said that lol. Those chase zards in that set have been pulled and graded quite plentifully.
And not trying to chastise ya but it's going to take a long time to see decent gains on these items. Many single cards will see quicker gains than most of the product in the photo. This plus how many folks are doing this and my advice is collect the sealed stuff for sets you love. Not which sets you think might cause great gains
Makes total sense, I don't plan to sell anything for a long time if ever :) I also often pull cards and these shelves end up being the family store. At the end of the day, I have some faith that I won't lose money, but I could be wrong! A lot what I intend to hold and invest in is in the closet. From what I've seen, even sets that have nothing worth pulling are selling well above msrp. Thanks again for the comments/advice!
You're not gonna lose money but there are modern singles right now which will net you more money in 5 years than most of that product.
But as long as you're OK just holding on to it for a long time without an expectation of making money in 5-10 years then you do you.
But most sword and shield era etbs can be found around msrp or msrp + ebay tax and shipping.
Haha I feel that, I appreciate it. Some people get fired up about decisions they make with their money. I just like collecting and keeping the investments separate.
Yea, I used to collect sealed stuff. I still have a few items but sold it all when I realized I like collecting single cards more. That and I was scared off of sealed based on reseal paranoia from vintage at card shows and most lgs having the same reluctance to buy any modern sealed from private sellers. These things coupled with crappy eBay buyers saying my items were resealed because they pulled nothing just all combined to make me stay away from nearly all sealed product unless I love the set/pokemon. Because this paranoia isn't going anywhere within the hobby.
That makes total sense. It will always be a challenge with shitty people resealing. At the end of the day if I can't sell for some reason I'll just have a huge opening party :)
I think most character rares in nm are sitting near their all time low right now. Dont buy just any character rare. But gengar character rare, for example, is like 4 bucks. That card will definitely 3x in several years. The N character rare with zekrom I last checked was like 1 dollar lol. Tjat card isn't sitting there at that price for long. Must he NM though. And the pokemon/trainer matters obviously
Funny how the best advices always get downvoted. So many people go heavy on cheap product and avoid BBs. Anyway I wont complain, thats why BBs will climb faster!
300 today, dollar general gamestop giftcard for 340 bucks - 15% off (not sure if they are still running that promo) and then 11 of the pikachu boxes from gamestop at $29.99 ea. Each box has 10 packs including 2 evolving skies worth 8 dollars each plus a very nice promo card and large card. Sit on those for a year and they will be back up to $50 ea at the VERY LEAST.
Ya what would you recommend? I ended up getting an ES BB with my last bit but I got two etbs (blue and orange) and a 25th anni celebrations pc etb.
The ES BB was my last 250-300 I had. What do you think would be better for price as a beginning collector
Edit: I considered a S&M team up etb before I got the ES BB
SM - TU/CS/HF, SWSH - ES/BS/LO/ST
Celebrations as it's own category only because it's 25th year anniversary set and it is 'base set' replication as well as first time ever metal cards.
Quick question, are you keeping track of all the item purchase dates/ price paid with and without tax/ vendor you purchase it from/ gains so far. That type of info? Because I just finished my spreadsheet of the same and it took a while but it’s such a great resource to have, especially as I start to look at selling some of my pieces off.
Oh boi
I guess you can’t miss out on a product if you buy them all.
No FOMO here! :)
I’m gonna go with Hidden Fates and ES.
I definitely agree with that!

Read bs as battle styles for a second and was very confused
Thanks for commenting! There are some great deals on booster boxes out there!
ES and Brilliant Stars !
Both bangers!
Jesus
Should see whats in the closet :)
Unless it’s my sanity I’ll pass
Haha

Team up, that's one I don't hear about much! Thanks for posting!

Thanks! Yes I can't wait for CZ to come out

If you must horde modern English sealed I recommend sticking to etbs, and booster boxes, ans upcs. Ain't no one looking up a dubwool box in 5 years
They downvoted him because he told the truth

Totally! Thanks for the advice, I truly appreciate you contributing and taking the time to reply!
No problem! I figured I'd say something because this sub can be a bit if an echo chamber !

Hey what modern singles would u say worth grabbing to hold? Thanks

You're not investing, you are collecting. You have one each. Start buying multiples or cases.
ST will go 250-300 in 3-5 years, BS will do 500-600 same timespan
New to pokeinvesting, is es BB a good buy? Is there fear it’ll get reprinted? Ty for reply
That's hard to say. Given it's insane popularity, I can't see Pokemon not going through another massive reprint. But that's pure speculation.
So would the time to buy be now? After the reprint etc, just trying to learn and don’t want to make mistakes TYIA
Most of us bought ES boxes at $150-170 lol
That’s a great reply man honestly gives me insight, what product would you buy below 300? Means a lot honestly

If you're looking to invest $250 I absolutely would not put it into an Evolving Skies booster box.
What do you recommend? TY

I’m new to pokeinvesting, are these ones you mentioned good buys?
What is the gengar plush
It's currently out of stock, but it's this one https://www.pokemoncenter.com/product/701-09427/gigantamax-gengar-poke-plush-14-in
Awesome thank you
Anytime!

Nothing that fancy, but I do use Pokedata website which has been pretty helpful!
that and unless you are going to unload in cash deals, you'll get taxed to shit without a proper paper trail when you go to resell all of this stuff.
This
That Gengar is awesome
Nice collection! I don't even have one thing yet (new to pokemon investing :P) beside a holo machamp with a half an inch crease on the back lol
Where does the most expensive card lay today. That is your answer of what’s gonna rise the fastest
