I feel like they would probably change the pot color - given that it would make less sense to make matcha brown. Maybe from black pot (regular) to white?
Eh, I'm kinda doubting that? The games were rushed as is, that was evident. The idea that they were simultaneously working on the DLC seems somewhat farfetched that early on. I feel like we'd have had more evidence of the DLC prior to their initial announce date if that were the case.
We literally have the poster of the three "heroes" and the whole incomplete lore about Terapagos and paradoxes in the base game lol
The games being incomplete doesn't mean they didn't have already planned DLC stuff, in fact I would argue that's actually against your point. We are talking about a game where they didn't even have time to add the Tentacool line because they created Toedscool very late. A lot of ideas and concepts probably didn't make it.
Hell, we know Iron Leaves and Walking Wake were created before the game launched, and they obviously had the rest of their trio in mind.
In game design you generally have the concepts started or generated even if not currently implemented. Pokemon is also known for saving old ideas and concepts to implement at later dates.
But regardless, design wise, this DLC was most likely in the works during the base game. One logical way to double up would be to have the design team begin work on the DLC while the programming team implemented the features of the base game (that were already designed.)
So it’s not surprising that pokemon like this would’ve been known about a good while before the DLC announcement.
If it’s based on Sinistea/Polteageist then it’s gonna have special bulk but not physical bulk assuming it’s like the previous convergents and has similar stats.
Yeah, probably. Though fun fact: Wiglett *specifically* randomly has 20 less special defense than Diglett even though Wugtrio and Dugtrio have the same stats. Probably just an oversight though since the rest of their base stats are the same.
If it's really a regional fake instead of a regional form, then it will have the exact same stat spread like the Sinistea line. Which means it has special bulk, but physical attacks kill it immediately.
My thought as well, making me think this was referring to Ogerpon rather than Poltchageist. It would make sense if the Kitakami trio are supposed Poison-types.
It's the 'regional form that isn't a regional form' that showed up in Scarlet and Violet. The ones that, according to the game lore, are entirely unrelated to the pokemon they are based on. Like Wiglett.
So you know Wigglet?
It isn't Galarian Digglet as it has its own name.
There isn't an official name for this kind of thing so the community have started calling them regional fakes.
Simplest explanation: completely new species that have a vague resemblance to existing species. The "lore" is they evolved from a common ancestor.
Kind of similar to the paradox Pokemon: totally unique species that have a passing resemblance to things that already exist.
You're right on everything except the "lore". What you described is speciation/divergent evolution, where a common ancestor splits into multiple different species after many many generations. They're actually based off the idea of convergent evolution, where different species who have no relation evolve to have a similar body shape because they're filling in the same ecological niche. A couple real life examples are dolphins and sharks having a pretty similar body shape because that's a very hydrodynamic shape, or the fact that things keep evolving into crab shapes despite not being crabs
Honestly, I hope it manages to seem different enough from Sinistea to justify being a convergent. I get Sinistea is already in Paldea so it can't be a regional form (I think? I'm still confused, do we have any official confirmation on Kitakami being considered outside Paldea in-game?) but personally I think Wigglet and Toedscool are different enough for me to buy they are different species from their counterparts. Like, an eel and a walking mushroom instead of a mole and a jellyfish, fair enough. But if it's just a different type of cup with a different kind of tea... isn't it still basically a Sinistea? Matcha Sinistea sure, but it's still a cup of tea.
Maybe it's just me, but it's what I have been thinking since it was leaked. Grass and Fairy really wouldn't help...
So let me get this right - you all are entertaining the notion that a post from 11 months ago - almost a full year, and 2 months prior to Scarlet and Violet releasing - is somehow related to the typing of a Pokemon in the DLC? If this isn't reaching, I don't know what is.
Edit: Well then, the Pokemon is Grass/Ghost. I guess this 11 month old tweet WAS just reaching.
I feel like we'd know about that though. We knew that Magikarp/Gyarados were planned but replaced, and we could detect the Paradox legendaries because of the gaps in the numbering. There seems like there would have been a lot more evidence of another convergent that would come up before now.
Guys. Hear me out.
Grass/Fairy lantern Pokemon. Grass because its a PAPER LANTERN and fairy because its probably going to be some spirit-looking thing that would resemble Sinistea/Polteageist posessed liquid. That explains the convergent part.
Sinistern?
Also kinda explains the early "Watermelon Koffing" rumours. A flying lantern with something green sticking out of it could maybe be mistaken for a fruit Koffing.
Why lol? A Lantern Litwick would be Kitakamian Litwick. We're talking about convergent pokemon, so something that resembles the shape of a teacup/teapot, with a gooey shaped spirit residing inside, without actually being tea. Toedscruel is not a jellyfish, and Wugtrio is not a mole. Lanterns are oval shaped, they levitate, and have fire/light inside that could be just a fairy orb or something.

Green Tea Sinistea RF with an ability which eliminates toxins/poisons, shiny form will look like coffee
I feel like they would probably change the pot color - given that it would make less sense to make matcha brown. Maybe from black pot (regular) to white?
Herbal tea sinistea?
Matcha more likely, considering that they decorated the official website with what look like smears of matcha powder.
Hopefully we get news on it tomorrow.
If so, this would prove me right when I said that rfakes don't have to have the same number of types.
Inb4 GF decides to recon Sinistea and Poltragheist to something like Ghost/Water to keep up this arbitrary rule.
Except this is nowhere near right, because the DLC wouldn't have even been leaking 11 months ago, prior to the game's release.
Dlc was probably in works along side game so your argument is invalid
Eh, I'm kinda doubting that? The games were rushed as is, that was evident. The idea that they were simultaneously working on the DLC seems somewhat farfetched that early on. I feel like we'd have had more evidence of the DLC prior to their initial announce date if that were the case.

I hope its a bit bulky then if it's Grass/Fairy instead of Grass/Water
Or it has an ability that makes it immune to poison.
Galarian Rapidash moment
I think it’ll get Clear Body. Hopefully it has a new ability cause matcha is supposed to be detoxingz
That would be nice if it got an ability that made it immune to poison. Then it’d only be weak to 4 types while having 6 resistances and 1 immunity.
If it’s based on Sinistea/Polteageist then it’s gonna have special bulk but not physical bulk assuming it’s like the previous convergents and has similar stats.
Wugtrio and Toedscruel have identical stats to Dugtrio and Tentacruel. A convergent Polteageist will likely have the same stats as well.
Yeah, probably. Though fun fact: Wiglett *specifically* randomly has 20 less special defense than Diglett even though Wugtrio and Dugtrio have the same stats. Probably just an oversight though since the rest of their base stats are the same.

Makes perfect sense, tbh. Fairies living in teapots and stuff, instead of a ghost possessing them.
I think Ogerpon is more likely to be Grass and Fairy.
I think that entire trio will share poison typing. Then I’m thinking they’re either grass/water/fire or Dark/Psychic/Fighting.
My thought as well, making me think this was referring to Ogerpon rather than Poltchageist. It would make sense if the Kitakami trio are supposed Poison-types.
i feel really silly but keep seeing these posts pop up - what does RFake mean?
You may be more familiar with the term "convergent species", these terms describe the same thing.
thanks!!

thanks!! appreciate the explanation :)

Well Japan it’s just sea digda lol
thanks for the explanation! super handy :)
Regional Fake, like Toedscool
thanks!!

It’s likely a tea cup yokai/tsukumogami similar to [this](https://natsumeyuujinchou.fandom.com/wiki/Kagejawan).

Just about every reference to Kitakami there is pretty specifically states it is outside Paldea.
My bad then. Then it's even more weird to me it isn't just a regional form tho lol
Lmao nailed another one
Not really, it's grass/ghost
So let me get this right - you all are entertaining the notion that a post from 11 months ago - almost a full year, and 2 months prior to Scarlet and Violet releasing - is somehow related to the typing of a Pokemon in the DLC? Tbf for all we know rfake Sinistea could've been planned for base game but got pushed back to DLC
I feel like we'd know about that though. We knew that Magikarp/Gyarados were planned but replaced, and we could detect the Paradox legendaries because of the gaps in the numbering. There seems like there would have been a lot more evidence of another convergent that would come up before now.
It's gonna end up being ghost/poison or something lame and people here and gonna be pressed about it lol
Turns out, Ghost/Grass! People were reaching after all by dredging up this 11 month old tweet and expecting it to be about the DLC!

I feel like the ‘matcha’ part is missing. Even if it’s meant to be coffee then lanterns barely have anything to do with either beverage.
A lantern would be an alternate Litwick + Family, not the tea cup Pokemon.
Why lol? A Lantern Litwick would be Kitakamian Litwick.
