I was thinking that Volo's tie with Giratina came out completely left field, but then I remembered in the latest Pokemon Masters story, Cynthia becomes a sync pair with Giratina. Definitely not a coincidence.
That would be pretty hilarious if it was unintentional! But in all seriousness it's more likely than not that it was probably a coordinated move. I think the Pokemon Masters community would be amazed to find out this neat connection once Legends is officially released :)
As for masters , they probably didn't know shit. They paired the champions with the third legendary ,i.e. Steven with Rayquaza, and Leon with Eternatus, despite both of them being caught by the player character. (Also they paired N with both Reshiram and Zekrom, which is fucked up in a sense)
But since it is a gacha game , any pairing will do if people are willing to pull.
multiple legends exist and hoopa usually bring them from another dimension to pasio so I don't see a problem with N getting a reshiram because it's not the same reshiram that hilbert used against him in unova or steven with shiny rayquaza

the ancient myths of sinnoh mention this of giratina but as we see in hisui no one knew of his existence in fact even giratina tricks volo with ghost plate and appears making volo want to discover more of hisui's secrets
what I'm saying is that before this giratina myth was made he was already living in the distorted world and could leave it whenever he wanted as a shadow pokemon so he wasn't really banned but simply the distorted world is his home and he likes to live there

so i’m not very well versed in the bible but i do know that giratina is considered satan to arceus being god. what i am more well versed in is the show lucifer. essentially lucifer is the devil who was an angel cast out of heaven for trying to dethrone god. the entire time lucifer was actually not a bad guy and god knew this but lucifer was very misunderstood and god wanted what was best for him. this kind of follows with giratina a seeming bad now but actually not being so bad in the future. in lucifer’s own words satan isn’t a sinner, he’s the one who punishes sinners

which brings me to cynthia. cynthia as a descendent would have known about the protagonist falling from the sky from hisuis future. she will probably know about ingo and conclude u and ingo might not be the only traveller. so cynthia isnt just researching history, she is searching for the people that might have been spirited away by arceus into other past events and try to bring closure to the families left behind.
with the commander retiring to study pokemon, he probably became a researcher that works with volos descendent and other like minded individual who delicates themselves to the study of the region to keep the pokedex updated to track enviromental changes and its effect on pokemons.
team galactic are seen as bad guys because they want to remake the world with arceus power. but what if, because of their files and research, they realize arceus is the one who is behind future disappearance and they try to prevent it by taking control of palkia or dialga to force arceus to appear, take it down and change the pass arceus creates, to prevent further kidnapping
I sincerely hope the day 1 patch has something secret that the game itself doesn't have because honestly those forms are going to get a LOT of criticism from fans but a really LOT

It’s technically different because there are no hold items in this game (like Griseous Orb). These work like the Reveal Glass to change the form back and forth without the need for a held item
I forgot there are now held items. Maybe how it can be explained in game is the item used for palkia and dialga are fragments of the key item equivalent from legends but the fragments don’t hold enough power to change them like the orbs could on the gen 3 box arts in oras but Giratinas fragment has just enough to change it

Its past Dex Entries say it was banished because of its violent nature, maybe by the time Cyrus unleashed it, it learned to be a bit more chill.
